NCAA Basketball 2012-2013 Season Catch-All

Louisville 58, Syracuse 53, at the dome.

Big time statement road win today.

March is here!

Looks like Kansas beat us twice this week. What a no show by ISU in Norman.

Tennessee can dominate Florida, but can't get past a Georgia team on a 5 game win less skid. Never change vols never change.

Sorry man. With UK and Ole Miss losing today the door was wide open for Tenn to be the 3rd and final SEC team in the tournament.

Well it's official... The Big East is Gone, and Long Live the Big East!

Sad, but I'm glad they're taking the name. At least what's left will be basketball-focused.

Cal laid an egg on Wednesday losing big to stanfurd at home. Coincidentally, both Oregon and UCLA also lost yesterday and while that keeps Cal's reg. season pac-12 hopes alive, in RPI terms that was also a bad thing. Cal is done for the reg season and the Pac-12 tourney starts next week in Vegas. While I think Cal's chances of getting into the big dance are still very good, a win or 2 in the tourney would make me feel a lot better.

Yeah I watched that game. Fight was pretty ugly.

Senior Night with no starting seniors, maybe not surprising that Cal didn't come out with fire, but getting blown out and getting into a fight is not the way you want to remember the season. Hope they pick it up in the conference tournament.

Louisville had an easy win over Cincy Mon for a nice 6th in a row. Pitino declared that we had a goal to win 7-in-a-row to close out the regular season, and it's been weird to hear the players mentioning it in press conferences and stuff. Seriously focused on "we can win 7" and going out and doing it.

But the reason I didn't really come talk about the win and the hope of keeping the Cincy rivalry going after we part ways... is that Pitino dropped a bomb in the post-game conference Mon night. Junior Center Gorgui Dieng will participate in Senior Day festivities Sat and declare for the draft this year. Now he hasn't hired an agent or anything and will wait to see if he's a first round pick with an option of returning. And projections have him anywhere from 28th to 44th or so. Late first round, early 2nd round right now. But, if we have the kind of postseason we expect, with a return to the Final Four, and shot at championship, then his stock will probably rise. So, while I don't want Gorgui to go, I want him to go...

Going to be an emotional day tomorrow.

Yes. Louisville 73, Notre Dame 57. Gorgui Dieng 8-11, 20 pts, 11 reb, 3 stl, 5 blk. What a final game.

Co-champions of the Big East.

Still work to do in NYC and beyond. But it feels good right now.

2011 women's bball national champs, the Texas Aggies, are playing for the SEC Championship right now! Gig 'Em, Aggies!

Feel bad for Michigan. Not sure what it takes for a breakaway clear path intentional foul where no play is made on the ball, but that was textbook by Indiana today. And instead of being punished with 2 FTs and the ball, they got away with it because missed the front of a 1-and-1 and blew the game.

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

I'm excited for when the Fresh Five aren't so fresh, but first I need to survive this heartbreaking season.

Wearing my loudest Aggie tie to work today in celebration of these ladies. Whoop!

March is upon us!

Love Championship Week, almost as much as the Madness itself.

Cal's Allan Crabbe named Pac-12 Player of the Year... that makes 3 out of the last 4 POY's from Cal. Of course we have all of nothing to show it, but hey any press is good press.

Got an invite from Jayhawker for GWJ March Madness. Is there a thread up for it yet?

Yuck, the Cyclones are not playing good basketball. I sure hope they can start hitting 3's in the second half.

Sorry nopants. Brutal finish to Illinois-Minnesota just now.

Neither one of those teams deserves to be going to the tournament but somehow they're both basically locks. That was a pathetic "basketball" game.

I love my Clones! I shouldn’t watch games at work, I'm all jacked now.

That was an impressive comeback. Hope they get a 3rd shot at Kansas and win this time.

Right here!

The more the merrier!

Going to be one hell of a game tomorrow night. ISU has pushed KU to the limit twice, and I see this game going to the last second once again. It's been fun to see the rivalry pick back up. When I was at KU, in the Manning days, even then Iowa State was a tough team team on KU.

Holy crap. Utah.

Louisville demolished Villanova tonight. Revenge tour 3 for 3 so far. 3 of our 5 losses have been avenged. And it looks like we get another chance to beat Notre Dame tomorrow night at 9, and keep them 0 for 18 in BE Tournament history of ever reaching the final game.

And then hopefully Georgetown in the final Sat night. Then just one more team to track down and beat... Duke, somewhere in the NCAA tournament.

Wow I wonder if Cal just played itself out of the tournament. Two bad losses to end the season. Through regulation we dominated the stats, but just couldn'tt hit our buckets. With our two best free throw shooters on the line, Cobbs and Crabbe both missed ones that would have put the game away in the closing minute. Unbelievable.

ESPN Bubble Watch still has them as a lock, but Lunardi has moved them to "last four in."

Definitely hurt their seeding last night, but I think they have to be in. A much better resume than some of the crappy SEC teams on the bubble.

Big shocker of the day, Wisconsin involved in an incredibly boring game.

I'm glad it's picked up again as well, we sort of fell of the map after the Eustachy mess. I was @ ISU during Coach Fred's playing days and that's when is seems like the rivalry and Hilton Magic was at it's best. What also fueled the rivalry on our side was KU's ability to recruit Iowa's best HS players (Raef LaFrentz, Nick Collison and Kirk Hinrich).

Anyway here's to another good game, but with a slightly different outcome

And Michigan loses again.

Also Tennessee and Alabama fighting to get off the bubble. 33-all early in the 2nd half.
