Space Sims/Strategy Games Catch-All

It has tutorial messages that pop up as you go.

In terms of written content, this week for our discussion topic, I finish movies and books all the time, so why is finishing games so weird to me?. In this week's gaming check-in, I talk about my abusive relationship with Total War: Warhammer II.

That's it for this upcoming week y'all. Thanks for being awesome, and I hope to see y'all on a stream or something this week!

How are you determining what to play for streams and whatnot? Seems like you keep playing some weird ass games that are generally super niche.

Well I've decided to have a few recurring games a month. The rest is based on who sends me keys, viewer requests and what looks most interesting to me. I figure I have to entertain myself first and foremost.

That's probably the weirder requests.

Hah, well it depends on whether I have the game, whether it's affordable and whether it looks fun.

You can watch any of these streams on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and several other locations.

In terms of written content, I apologize that there likely won't be much because my brain is kinda fried right now. I should come up with a list of topics for myself in the future. Is there anything you'd like to see me write about?

That's it for this upcoming week! Thanks for reading, and I hope you'll check out some of the content at some point.

Always excited to see someone play Rules of Engagement 1 or 2 with any amount of skill. The web browser emulated versions are fun, too.

4:00 PM-6:00 PM Dying Light LAN party stream

Ooooooooh

It's so great in co-op.

BTW, do you find the added interface changes and complexity in ROE2 to make it a better game than the original? Or too much change for not enough return? I just kind of wonder why a developer would pick ROE1 to port, instead of 2 other than familiarity.

I personally like RoE2 more, not entirely sure why since they're essentially very similar games.

Maybe they will port the second, if sales warrant?

I sure hope so, though it sounds like he might only have the rights to the first. I'll have to go back and listen.

They both run fine on DOSbox though.

I played those games to death, back when they came out. I wonder if I could stand the UI now, though...

That's my issue with older games, but that issue didn't crop up until I had kids. Now I ain't got no time for those horrible UIs!

Howdy friends, and welcome to another week of spacey gaming! This week we'll continue our look at Rules of Engagement, as some sort of sickness got to me last week and kept me from making more videos, and this game deserves better.

Moving on from pre-recorded content, here's this week's streaming schedule (please remember, all times are Pacific):

  • Monday - 9:30 AM-12:30 PM, Star Trek: Elite Force II stream.
  • Tuesday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Journey to the Savage Planet stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, Remnants of the Precursors podcast live recording.

You can see all of our planned upcoming streams and events on our calendar, as always!

You can watch any of these streams on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and several other locations.

In terms of written content, I'm rethinking how I do it each week. I've thus far left it to the last minute to write stuff each week, and that leaves me just exhausted and unmotivated, so I need to retool my current plan. I hope for at least one written article a week at minimum, I just need to figure out what that'll look like. I really enjoy the check-in, and might expand upon the idea a bit, but I'm not 100% though. Thanks for your patience in understanding that I'm trying to figure out how to be the best content-generating machine I can be, both written and for video.

Finally, friends, I'm gonna be using Twitter as a news feed from now on, to keep you updated on the latest stuff in space game news. Writing digests was a drag on my brain, and I found this to be both easier and more engaging. If you'd like to keep up, please follow me at https://twitter.com/spacegamejunkie, and thank you.

That's it for this upcoming week, my wonderful friends. Thank so much for everything, and I hope to see you somewhere online!

Started playing Empyrion. Having fun with it so far. Anyone else played it recently?

I was playing it about 6 months ago. I enjoyed it but fell off of it. I'd be interested in seeing what they've added since then.

Welcome to another week of spacey gaming my friends! This week's game of the week is the newly-released 4X, Astra Exodus, which is something of an odd beast I can't quite figure out if I actually yet like or not.

In terms of written content, I'm trying a new format, merging the previous check-in and discussion topic articles into something bigger and hopefully better, with some new stuff besides. Please check it out here and let me know what you think. Thank you!

Finally, a reminder that I'm now using my Twitter account (https://twitter.com/spacegamejunkie) as a news feed along with the usual social media stuff, and it's going really well I think. If you've not checked it out, I invite you to do so, and thank you!

That's it for this upcoming week, my amazing friends. Thanks so much for giving a hoot, and I'll see you around!

Looking forward to the coverage of Astra Exodus! I watched a couple of Dastactic's videos and cannot figure out if I want to get it or not. Parts looked really cool, parts looked really klunky. It will be great to see some more and different takes on it.

Welcome to another busy week of spacey and varied gaming y'all! This week's game of the week is one I am VERY excited about. Finally leaving early access after many, many years, this week we'll look at the very ambitious Void Destroyer 2!

In terms of written content, this week's discussion looks at second chances for games as well as choice paralysis.

That's it for this upcoming week, my beautiful friends. Hope to see y'all at a thing!

Ooh choice paralysis, I need to read that

There is a petition on Change.org to see if there is enough interest for a HD remake of Sword is the Stars

Apparently the developers have said they’ll get a Kickstarter off the ground to do it if they get 30k signatures (So not even a ‘we’ll do it” - more of a ‘we’ll think about it). So far it has 500 but figured it might be worth advertising. I really liked SotS but avoided SotS2 once it was clear just how completely broken it was.

I doubt this will come to anything, but figured if anyone here was interested, this would be the place to put it. Assuming it hasn’t already and I just completely missed it.

The original Sword of the Stars is a pretty amazing game. It has brilliantly designed factions that all play very differently, a randomized tech tree (with a very weird UI), and a 3D star map, which I loved. Hard to believe it's nearly twelve years old!

However, that guy Mecron is a rather unpleasant fellow. Not like Gamergater unpleasant, but he did not come off well in the online environment of a forum. Kind of like me on my worst days, except all the time. Maybe that's why he rubbed me the wrong way.

I'm not sure what they might add that would improve Sword of the Stars. Sword of the Stars II was a disaster.

Welcome back to another week of varied spacey gaming, my friends! For this week's game of the week, we'll continue our look at the super fun and utterly fantastic Void Destroyer 2!

Moving on from pre-recorded content, here's this week's streaming schedule (please remember, all times are Pacific):

  • Monday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Starships Unlimited stream.
  • Tuesday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, Astra Exodus developer interview podcast live recording.
  • Wednesday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Battle for Middle Earth stream.
  • Thursday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Far Cry 2 stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, Dying Light LAN Party stream.
  • Friday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Mass Effect 2 stream.

For this week's op-ed, I talk about the realization as to how I'm spending my off-stream gaming time, and how sometimes one even needs reminders to do the things they love and enjoy.

That's it for this upcoming week, my wonderful friends. Hope to see y'all at something!

Welcome back to another week of spacey gaming goodness, my friends! This week's game of the week is the massive 2D space exploration game, Stellaxy!

You can see all of our planned upcoming streams and events on our calendar, as always!

You can watch any of these streams on Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and several other locations.

For this week's op-ed, I talk about finding a game that immediately hits all the right notes just by reading its blurb on steam. I bought it sight unseen and was not disapponted.

Finally, my friends, I could use your help, to both grow my stream viewership and my endurance. Starting this week, for every five new people who like/follow/subscribe during a stream, I'll add thirty minutes onto the stream. You can find more details here.

That's it for this upcoming week, my amazing friends! Hope to see y'all somewhere online!

Welcome back to another week of spacey gaming greatness my friends! This week, we were gonna do a full game of the week covering the reail shooter shmup thing, Omnibion War, but it's so bad I could only get through a couple entries, so I'll have some other videos for you later in the week as well.

Moving on from pre-recorded content, here's this week's streaming schedule (please remember, all times are Pacific):

  • Monday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Starships Unlimited stream. Plus a plan B if the game ends prematurely. 1:00 PM-2:00PM, Bloody Rally Show Stream and Giveaway, since we had so much fun last time!

  • Friday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Mass Effect 3 stream. We finished 2, and I wasn't sure if we'd keep going, but I GOTTA SEE WHAT HAPPENS IN 3. 1:00PM - ?, come join us in chat as we hang out and talk about our week in Jamming with Jumpgate.

You can watch any of these streams on Twitch, and you can see all of our planned upcoming streams and events on our calendar, as always!

For this week's op-ed, my brain is mush, so it's kind of all over the place this week.

I'm continuing the challenge I began last week, which you can read about here. For every five new subscribers I add thirty minutes to my stream. Tell your friends.

Finally, I've decided to move solely over to Twitch for streaming (with archives uploaded to YouTube the next day), so if you've not followed me there, I invite you to do so, and thank you.

That's it for this upcoming week, my beloved friends! I hope to see y'all around online somewhere.
