Space Sims/Strategy Games Catch-All

Got Sins of a Solar Empire over the Steam sale, and I'm quite enjoying it. It's too bad I can't really enjoy the epic space battles up close and personal too often. Usually I'm zoomed way out, worrying about building stuff, scouting planets, and sifting through my research pages. The game certainly keeps ya busy. XD

For any iPhone or iPad owners, Ascendancy is on sale for $.99 to celebrate their 1 year anniversary.

Hey folks!

@SpyNavy mentioned to me on Twitter that I ought to come over and talk with you, so wanted to introduce myself. I'm Dan and I'm the director of Seamless Entertainment in Austin. We're the guys making SOL: Exodus. We're really excited about the game and very close to release so if you all have any questions or want to talk shop about space games, fire away.

Dan

You make game with explodey spacey bits? Then welcome. :)

Thank you! It's good to be here!

Welcome Dan. Veloxi is the resident space game afficionado, but most of us have a deep love for the genre as you can tell. Veloxi has a great site that centers around space games, sims, etc... Great group of mature (well not Garion) and knowledgeable gamers and professionals throughout. Glad you could stop by.

Veloxi's site is here: http://www.spacegamejunkie.com/

He's mentioned your game a number of times, if I recall correctly. I didn't realize (or remember) it was getting released in the near future. That's great!

And Spy ... thanks for the compliment, ya old codger!

As always, I am here for you.

What, it's not like any of our nicknames are based on video game space jockey pilots...

:cough:

Wondering if someone can give me a quick recap on Galactic Civilizations 2? See the complete edition on Steam for $19.99. I like that it's turn-based. Worth picking up at twenty or wait for another big discount?

Considering I paid full price for the vanilla game and both expansions throughout the years I can't sit here and tell you $20 is a bad deal for all of that. It was just 50% off during the Steam sale (I believe).

There's definitely a ton of good TBS gaming there for $20, but I see no reason not to wait unless you're super itching to play it right now.

Yeah, wait for a sale on that one.

Thanks for the info, good to know. I'll wait seeing as I have a crap-ton of Xbox games to play still

This game is really cool. Was working on something similar to this on the side, obviously in a drastically more basic form.

It's a callback to the days of Privateer and Freelancer in a social/F2P package.

Looks like a fun time waster.

Hey guys, I'm writing up a Q&A for the developers behind Starpoint Gemini II. Anything y'all would like to ask?

Still on a 2d plane?

Oohh, good call!

Nah, it's been on sale at GamersGate for $15 and other places.

That's really cool it finally made it to Steam, but it's been on sale elsewhere too, as Garion kindly pointed out.

Hey guys, I just found this out, but apparently the excellent military space sim, Starshatter: The Gathering Storm, has gone open source. Read all about it on my blog:

Capital ship. A Strangeblades Capital Ship that fires frozen cloned copies of myself. The ultimate in crew disruption technology!

What do you guys think of Starshatter?

I really enjoyed it!

TB broke it with that video. Or so I assume.

It worked after a few tries. Bought!

Paid the man his $10 for Starfarer last summer. The game still seemed like it needed some work and focus. It was in this unhappy medium (for me at least) between a space shooter and tactical RTS. Will need to grab the latest update to see how it's come along these last several months.

Hey guys, DarkStar One is only $4 on GoG today, if y'all were so inclined:

I bought it for its soundtrack.

How is Evochron Mercenary? Worth picking up? Require a joystick, or mouse and pokeboard okay?

I enjoyed my time with it, and you can totally fly it with a mouse and keyboard.

Filthy enabler, thank you. On the list it goes.
