Space Sims/Strategy Games Catch-All

I'M ON 80 MILLION POUNDS OF COLD MEDICINE AND HAVE NO VOICE SO SORRY I DID MEAN REBEL GALAXY YOU PEDANTIC f*ckS.

I mean...I love you...kisses...

Distant Worlds would be a good one.

Uh, feel better dude.

I'm just waiting for Rebel Galaxy to come out. Until then, everything else is just for killing time.

I'm gonna go play some right now, because I can. And I feed on your hatred.

So, I'm going to shill for Mr. Veloxi: He's up to $100/month on his Patreon! Congrats to him.

Thanks man, it was a very nice surprise!

Jealousy!

I still have Mad Max in the interm.

Just to screw around with the names some more, 'Rogue System' is also going to be a single player game. It's a 'study sim' for notional spacecraft. (http://imagespaceinc.com/rogsys/) . SGJ covered it this spring and as a flightsim geek I'm looking forward to it.

Oh yeah, Rogue System looks to be the Falcon 4/DCS of space sims, with all the switchology you'd want plus dynamic campaigns and so on. Can't WAIT for it.

It is slightly annoying to see you gaining achievements on a game that no one else can access yet.

*giggle*

That will just make him giggle louder.

There is a Steam sale for Stardock stuff this weekend that includes Gav Civil 3 and Offord Trading Company. It actually seems pretty temping at -50% off.

So what's the current rundown? Do we still hate them? Has the two games been updated/patched to be in better states by now?

Stardock is still run by Brad Wardell, it's up to you whether you can support them or not. I can't, but that's my choice. Thankfully there are more good games than I will ever play, so I'm not missing out much.

I'm British, so obviously 'slightly annoying' translates into American as 'I'm gonna track you down and rip out your heart'. And then apologise.

Cryptark? I guess it's technically a rogue-like. But it's IN SPACE

Picking this one up as soon as I get home. Man, there are WAY too many games to play right now.

Looks like Void Destroyer is getting a sequel, never did pick this up but it always looked interesting. Kickstarter, I bought in at the $15 level, which will get me a copy of the first one. Which is the same price as buying the first, so that works out well for me. I do like this approach to using Kickstarter "I'm making this game, I'm personally funding this much, the game will happen. The kickstarter funds go to enhancing the base game, so kickstarted or not the game is happening."

The dev needs to rethink or tweak one of his ship designs. It is pretty blatant copyright infringement on a Babylon 5 star fury with a toon shader skin.

Other than that, wow, if a game ever really delivers on what was shown in that video. Wow!

If the open-world DLC for the first game is any indication -- and apparently it's a big one -- Void Destroyer 2 will be really something awesome. I hope so, because the first game was kind of a nightmare.

Behold! I present Orion Trail! http://oriontrail.schellgames.com/

A cross of star trek and oregon trail. Combining spaceships and nostalgia, I think Veloxi is legally obligated to review it.

One man designed Homeworld clone is out on Steam. Game is called CERES - someone may have already posted but Im too lazy to go back in the posts. It looks like it could be one of those little games that scratch an itch for a certain type of fan. I bought it to support the Dev because I like underdogs and labors of love.

Hey, did anyone here get Ceres? If so, can you install it properly?

I swear to god, every time I try to install this game, Steam creates an empty directory and thinks it's properly installed. JUST this one game. I've never seen the like, and am totally baffled.

I had to switch download zones to Sweden to get it to install. My problem is that it starts, but leaves me at a black screen with a blue mouse cursor.

What the, that is so freaking weird. I'll try that, but sorry to hear you also can't get the game to run.

Anyone else given Beyond Sol a try? I've put about three hours or so in, and it reminds me of playing Drox Operative, except that you play the civilizations, not an independent operative.

Beyond SOL is pretty great. First vid will go up tomorrow.

I don't think I had any issues but I didn't actually run the game yet - just downloaded.

So I was playing some Ceres last night (finally got it installed, was sent a bad key), and I was digging it, weird bugs and all, until I ran into the oddest one yet...my ship got stuck on a station. I had to approach a station to scan it, and the movement command in this game is hit or miss, so I used the follow command. Silly me. The ship got stuck to the station model and couldn't move at all. It was kind of hilarious.

Other than that I was enjoying it. Sigh.
