Space Sims/Strategy Games Catch-All

Now for the crazy question: Who is going to buy it (again) on Steam just to have it on Steam?

Just grabbed it. Already had SoaSE and Entrenchment. For $15, this was a no-brainer to get it on Steam.

This is why I'm tempted to get it now. I don't have any of the expansions.

Don't feel bad, he didn't say anything about it until recently. I saw a video on Starwraith's YouTube account for it at some point last month and thought that he was reposting an old vid or something because Arvoch is "that old game he did" in my mind. It wasn't until he plastered it on the front page of the site that I realized it's actually a new game.

Ironically I was only at his site because of your blog as I went looking for new info on Evochron.

Hahah, awesome. I'm totally gonna be playing AA this weekend and will likely begin writing it up next week.

Just checked out a bit of the tutorial for AA. Newtonian physics, an informative cockpit. Looks like fun, and might just scratch that Wing Command and Freespace itch!

Now - if only I could stream one or more elements of the HUD/cockpit displays to an ipad/android tablet.

I'd love to be able to control energy assignment ala Independence War via a touch device. Give me weapons integration, or radar details, etc. Two finger swipe to get to different "panels."

I figure I still have hours and hours of FSOpen to play, custom campaigns that I haven't installed yet and so on.

Damn dude, I'd just settle for another Freespace or Wing Commander game.

Marking the thread.

I will probably buy GalCiv2 again on steam; I never did get the expansions. Though the time it eats every time I play has kept it off my harddrive since a reinstall a while back. One of these days I need to pull out the old space sims and see whether they work with the 360 controller. It's been a long time since I have played anything spacey. Too long.

I know, I know. But it's all in service to my dream for a battletech pod like atmosphere. I want a cockpit dammt!

In other words, you want this, but in space:

Oooh. That's nice! But actually it's a little less about the visualization and more about the controls. I want to be surrounded by functional control systems, coupled with useful system readouts.

But I'd take a multi-monitor info panel too!

Hedge, there are a couple mods for Evochron Mercenary that work on a 2nd monitor that have some things you might like:

Can't say they'll be ported to the new game or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if they end up working with it since he's working within the same engine.

Awesome spacey (and a smacking of fantasy) sale at GOG

Fantasy Wars
King's Bounty: The Legend
Space Rangers
Space Rangers 2: Dominators
Star Wolves
UFO: Afterlight
UFO: Aftermath
UFO: Aftershock

All fer less than $5 each.

So I just spent a couple of hours with the seven tutorials in AA, and while there were some niggles, I thought it was very well done. I'll have my first writeup for the game soon.

ooooh! I'm gona try to explore this game over the break. Along with SotS1.

That does look really cool, I wanna try that my own self. It says you can run it on a 2nd computer, so I'll try it on my netbook which is next to my PC.

Hey y'all, please enjoy my first article covering Arvoch Alliance, which first looks at training:

Enjoy!

So I just played through the first four missions of AA and had a good time. I was planning to write it all up...until I saw that I hadn't set FRAPS to take a screenshot every 5 seconds, so I only got ONE screenshot, and will have to go through them AGAIN to get screenies. Not that big a deal since I have notes, but still, BLERG.

Nexus: The Jupiter Incident is $2.49 on Steam through Monday, on sale from it's regular $9.99 price.

Also Sword of the Stars Complete for $7.99, on sale from $20

And SPAZ half price at $7.49

I bet that menu screenshot was HOT!

Can't. TBSkyrim.

Grab Nexus! Its totally worth that much. And it has a sequel coming out now.

Oh my, Star Ruler is a paltry $4. I actually already own in on Impulse, but I'd pay $4 to have it on Steam. This, along with Sins (and maybe GalCiv2, squee) moving over pretty much lets me avoid Impulse/Gamestop software forever!

Distant Worlds: Legends is out. It's $20. That link says that there's a 20% off sale but Matrix's medieval web site won't tell me if it's $20 before or after the discount.

Note: You need Distant Worlds and Return of the Shakturi (both of which are on sale )

I snagged Legends, and will be doing a looksee at it once I'm done with Avroch Alliance.

In the spirit of the holiday, which space games are y'all thankful for? I'm thankful for these:

Totally worth grabbing, and we HOPE there's a sequel coming out. Last I saw the crowdfunding route wasn't doing that well. :/

Oh, wow. I remember wanting Starflight when it first came out, but never got to play it. I take it the game holds up well?
