Putting the War in Guild Wars 2 - Saturday Night PVP/WVW Fights

Already?? I was on last night and the action in EB was fast and furious, but seemed to be staying roughly even. Are we the blow-out-ers or the blown out?

We're doing the blowing, 53k vs 15k and 14k.

Red still has some fight in them so it isn't over, but they're in trouble.

Yeah, I think they should go back to 24 hr resets, or something shorter than a week.

Unless you want the focus to be sPvP, Thursday might just about be the worst possible night because of the Friday reset, WvW will be dead unless the match is close to even all the way through.

I think Friday or Saturday (if the queues are too long Friday) would work better in that case.

Good point. It will be hard to muster an effective team when que times run in the hours.

Yeah, I think that's actually what happened this Friday... I got on and Melphie said 'Queue for EB now!' By the time I finally got in there was only one other goodjer in there.

Hi all,

I'm willing to move the night to Fridays but have a few counterpoints:

1. I was trying to set this night up both for hardcore PVPers and those who are interested but new to WVW. It seems our hardcore crew are already going to be rolling on Fridays, so I'd like to do a different night.

2. If the zone is relatively quiet, that might be the perfect time for us to actually get people through the queues and practice taking keeps, grabbing supply, etc.

3. Honestly, I'm being a little selfish. Friday night for me is either date night or family night. I can't get on until at the earliest 9:30 PM PST, so I can't really participate except with the late night crew.

That being said, would Wednesday nights be better if by Thursday everyone has already given up and are waiting for the reset?

I think the issue is that by Thursday there are either no keeps left to take, or they're too solidly entrenched to take.

you guys realize that after dominating so much this round that odds are high that this next round you'll be on the receiving end?

Is there a good weekday besides Friday where there's still ground left to fight over, or is it the case that by the end of the weekend everyone's dug in? Also, I'm used to Warhammer Online where a good group (15-20 people) could take down a lightly defended keep. How many do you need in GW 2?

We figured the same thing after last time, yet it didn't happen. The match ups will come right at some stage, so it may balance this weekend.

What about specifying more than one night?

This is probably the best plan. Friday/Saturday and Tuesday? To keep them spread out a bit.

That sounds good to me, and maybe even Sundays? Initial push, hold control/contest control, and clean-up?

Well we can have impromptu wvw events any time there's enough people interested. I think the idea here is to pick one or two nights a week so that people can plan around that. I put Friday/Saturday together because I don't think we've settled on one or the other yet. Fridays would mean that we'd have to wait for the new match-ups to start, and I imagine the queue would be longer, so my vote is for Saturday.

Are there any EU timezone people sitting in the shadows who would like to go for some organised WvW?

I'm available most weeknights post 19:30 GMT+2 for 2-3 hours, and currently Saturday days and Sunday nights.

Otherwise, if I'm on I'm most likely up for some WvW, so give me a shout.

If we can get a consensus, I'm willing to push our first night to this Saturday. That would give me more time to get to 30 and unlock my elite.

that works for me

Bummer the schedule doesn't allow for Thursday nights to make sense.

Yup.

Have fun storming the castle, guys! I'll try to pop in on Saturdays when i can.

As ranalin pointed out the servers should start being matched up better, so Thursdays may still work out.

And even if there's not much going on it's fun and profitable to get 3 or 4 together to go grind WvW mobs.

Based on recommendations, I've pushed the first PVP night back to this Saturday. Devil - I'll probably still be playing late Pacific Time, which I think will be late morning/early afternoon your time. Feel free to hit me up if you're on.

I do often jump on as soon as I've brushed my teeth on a Sunday morning (I may have a problem) so you'll probably see me then.

I might be able to make it Saturday night. If I pop on it will be after 10pm EST.

I'd like to give it a run but have to wait to put my son to bed @ 8pm est.

How did it go last night for everyone? I was running with Tekkmun and a few other Goodjers last night in NS borderlands and we practically pushed the other teams out (I think blue had like one supply camp left). Unfortunately after the kid was in bed I crashed out too so I didn't get a chance to join the late night crew.

One observation: getting into a match is still brutal during the weekends. It took me nearly 40 minutes to get in, and I was hearing that other Goodjers were having the exact same problem. More and more I'm thinking we should move to Mondays so that we can get a good core group going instead of being strung out among multiple warbands.

From my experience Home World Borderlands and Eternal Battlegrounds always have the highest queue times (that's how it worked on Maguuma). A few of us did Borlis Pass Borderlands last night. At 10pm EST it took me roughly 5 minutes to get in to that match. I was in an at least half hour queue for Eternal Battlegrounds when I logged at 4:15am EST.

I tried to get into the NS borderlands for about 45 min., then gave up.

The Battle in Borlis Pass was tons of fun! and for the first time, I left WvW with more silver than I had going in =)

also, I've come to realize that I much prefer invading other borderlands, the southern half of the map has a much better flow. or at the very least, less cliffs.
