I had a co-worker, who I respected and was friends with for years, one Day say that all muslims should be shipped out of the country. Even if they were US citizens. It was impossible not to lose respect for him during the conversation.

At my job now, ive had co-workers tell me gay marriage is bad for the country and makes the US move away from what the forefathers wanted, that Obama is a socialist and that Sharia Law will rule the country in a few years.

I totally understand how you feel.

How will I get good Doner Kebab?

Oh I totally loved that scene... especially Thor. He had a little bit where he looked at it and said to himself,"what is this thing?" And then he proceeded to cram half of it into his mouth.

If someone bases part of their argument on "facts" that a city of 8 million people like New York is inherently unsafe because of race, then the rest of their argument is immediately suspect.

Simply point out to them that their argument is based entirely on ignorance and fear. To speak their language: they are dumb and scared. It's the same psychology that's the root of anti-gay sentiment. People fear what they don't understand.

Don't despair. It's easy to feel like the whole world is like that when presented to you front-and-center as it was. It's not.

I'd find some new friends though.

Nah, Shawarma's got an Israeli version. Totes cool still if all the muslims are kicked out.

You will have to convince me, I tend to find a lot of Israeli versions lacking (falafel especially). Maybe we can get some Kashmiri people snuck under the radar?

Also, Shakshuka for breakfast on sunday, I have a craving.

Thanks Tangle, I have not had it in awhile. Yall can come over.

Don't deport the people that make my favorite foods.

I will vote for anyone who endorses this message. Preferably on a bumper sticker with lots of ethnic food cartoons (which all speak in a brooklyn accent in my head).

*sigh*

People are assholes man. I'm a White South African and it amazes me how 16 years after the end of Apartheid people expect me to share their hateful attitudes because of my skin colour.

At a restaurant I worked at I and another guys had an old man come to use and say, 'It's nice to see you guys don't have any darkie waiters.' We just started at him in shock and he scrambled out. It just so happened that the 'darkies' weren't working that day, but anyway.

I was also reminiscing with another customer about a restaurant/bar I had worked at that was closed. Her opinion was that it closed down 'when the clientele changed' while subtly indicating a Black co-worker, ... who happened to be my fiance.

This is leaving out family with their minds stuck firmly in the past that I don' want to get to.

Just console yourself that old racist/hateful people are going to die out, and try reach the younger people and prevent them from going down that same path if you can. And if you can't just cut them off.
