NFL 2012 Week 5 Thread

Fixed

Yeah I fell less and less bad about the 49ers losing to the Vikings as they keep winning.

I'm still not sure how they're doing it. Peterson isn't having off-the-wall numbers. And as my stupid auto-draft fantasy team can attest, Ponder isn't lighting it up either. But somehow they're just good enough to win.

Still I think the 49ers may have just overlooked them after the big name teams on the schedule, and I would love our chances for a rematch.

I know the Bills aren't great, but holy crap we hammered them today on both sides of the ball. I should have played Kendal Hunter in fantasy instead of Fred Jackson. Yeah our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (Dixon) RBs all ended up with more points individually than Spiller and Jackson combined. Running game domination.

I haven't really watched any of the Vikings games so could a Vikings fan explain to me why they are good? I didn't think anything changed in the offseason outside of Peterson rehabbing. Did they change somebody on the coaching staff?

They are pretty good not great. The Titans are just god awful.

I'd say Ponders play has been one of the driving factors.

I'm pretty sure Atari Bigby's NBC introduction violated the league's substance abuse policy.

And Brees just broke the consecutive games with a TD record.

Regardless of how the rules of the game have changed to favor passing, Unitas' TD record was the one record that I thought would never be broken. Wow.

In all the years the Titans have been in Nashville, I've never seen them this bad. They suck in all areas. I'm ready to blow the team up and start over with a new team, new coaches and a healthy Jake Locker. I will honestly be surprised if they win another game this season.

They need a coach that can turn a bad squad around. Like a Jeff Fisher.

Can we put to rest the whole myth of the "Philly Fan" now?? /sigh Probably not.

haha yeah right. I'm glad Fisher is gone.

Holy crap Crosby shanked that FG at the end of the game.

Yeah, watching red zone channel was weird yesterday. It seemed like every time they cut to a field goal it was missed. Wtf has happened to field goal kicking all of the sudden? Seems like just a few years ago anything from 50 and closer was almost automatic.

And people mocked when the Texans drafted my homie Randy Bullock, winner of the Groza award.

'course, he's been put all year with a groin injury...

Speaking of the Texans, MNF! Go Texans!

I double-post for the Texans beating two QBs we've lost to in the past in one game of MNF!

Well they were just showing last week that FG % made was at an all-time high through 4 weeks, like 92% or 94%, something ridiculous. So they were due to miss a few to come back down to reality.

I'm predicting a 37% chance of Tebow Time for this game -- if Dirty Sanchez keeps up his current level of suck, and the Jets get far enough behind. God help us all if he goes on to lead the Jets to a comeback victory.

Sanchez is at 49% completion on the season.

Yeah Tebow is at 47% for his career, but somehow he was winning at that %, and Sanchez is not even coming close.

Today is "Who will the Titans take as the number one draft pick next year" day in Nashville.

Going to have to fight Cleveland for that one. They are 0-5 and have the inside track. Plus Jax and KC are with you at 1-4 and show little sign of getting better.

Me too, because now the Titans D tackles like this:

Rule 1 of being a Jaguar fan: if you can't be good, at least be better than Tennessee.

The only teams I'm worried about beating us out for the first draft pick are the Jags and the Browns.

The Packers make me sad

really wish they were going into a bye week to shake their heads out. Instead next Sunday night away to Houston. gulp.

You're so modest. Don't worry, your defense and the 36 points they're giving up a game has it in the bag.

I don't think you should count out the Raiders though.

I'm a little giddy. I don't think I've seen anyone take a Houston team that seriously in ages.

I am very excite!

Yes, it's very obnoxious. I want the Houston .500s back.

Though right now, I'd settle for the Jacksonville .500s.

You have no idea how refreshing it is to read something like this as a fan of a team that stunk for its first nine years. And from a fan of what has lately been an elite team, as well. Thank you.

Edit: Tannhausered by hoppa!

Again, Legion, please let me buy you a drink after the game when you come to Houston. It may help to dull the pain you'll no doubt be feeling.

Two things.. Houston really up to now is the only team that appears "complete" IMO. Maybe SF as well but I'm still not 100% convinced.. Clearly the team to beat in the NFC but I'm still not sure they don't roll into the playoffs and get Eli "Pie Face" Manning-ed at home again. Houston was already close last year with a QB that was packing UPS trucks..

And.. the Texans is a horrible name.. and the logo has to go as well.. whats the likelyhood that somehow someway they revert back to the Oilers and that Logo.. sure its not PC but we still deal with the Redskins every year dont we?

I don't know what the Texans are but at the very least they seem to be consistent. Which is a compliment in the NFL parity era. Showing up and playing 4 quarters goes a long way in winning games. Just ask the Packers who are doing their best Jekyll and Hyde impersonation.

I might be ignorant but none of the players really stand out to me as truly elite (caveat this NFL is plug and play RB's IMO so I question Foster). They haven't beat anyone in recent memory where I was like "wow they beat .... and really laid the smack down"

Packers might be that first game where they really lay down a marker in a prime time game. Still have Baltimore, Chicago and maybe the real test at NE for a monday night game. I say that because Baltimore and Chicago can also be extremely inconsistent IMO.

Maybe they are just a victim of their division. Its hard to get amped up about how good they are when you get to slap around the rest of the AFC south ;D
