Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

The coworker is out this morning for a doctor’s appointment. A blessed four hours without the fear of inane conversation about in-laws or cats.

The Met? I took my wife there on your recommendation last year. Soooo good. Had some fantastic bourbon along with it as well.

Yuppers! Not only had a fantastic bourbon cocktail and a steak, but some pant-wettingly good king crab legs, and the pork loin that the wife got was quite possibly the nicest pork I've ever had.

Also, try the carrot cake. Seriously.

Just saw a skip lorry with the number plate W444STE.

Skip lorry = dumpster truck. I love the Brits, but you've got some goofy words for things.

After a long, stressful application process, my girlfriend got her #1 choice of residency programs for her PHD in Psychology. Which means we'll be staying in Ottawa, which I'm very excited about as I don't have to find a new job in another city for a year. Though a part of me was excited at the possibility of going to Winnipeg and meeting all the fine GWJers out there, I'm glad to stay in my job, not have to move and have a happy GF in a great program. Really though, I'm just happy she got matched as about 25% of applicants don't. A brutal phase of my life is over!

Nothing says large, rusty metal container full of rubble and debris like the word skip.

Actually, having looked up dumpster, it may be a different thing. This is a skip lorry. You hire the metal container and the firm takes it away full of waste:

Yeah, that’s a dumpster, they're the same thing, they're just bigger and designed slightly differently in the US.

Congratulations and best of luck in the next phase

I was on my first podcast with a couple of friends and it was a ton of fun! Its called the Big Large Huge Broadcast.
It's so weird to hear myself but I was on to bring a PC perspective to the group who are predominantly console gamers.

Congrats! That is definitely the sort of thing that deserves its own thread though.

My team came in second place at the company Hackathon, so we each won an Einstein bobblehead and an Apple TV, which I've been wanting for awhile. Plus, the top two teams compete against the top two from the other offices, so we could win the whole thing and even more fabulous prizes.

I listened to students talk to Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield today. WHILE HE WAS IN SPACE. My job rocks. #ReportersRule #HadfieldRules

So what's the exchange rate between Canadian and American astronauts?

I thought in Canada they were called cosmonauts.

Pffft. They're called Canuck-A-Nauts. You need brushing up on the differences between communist countries.

Fantastic film and very funny heightened by the fact that it's based on a true story. Gets quite emotional towards the end (sob.)

New storage ottoman for the dual purpose of holding board games & resting my feet. So comfy/efficient!
