A mini piece of cheesecake made by one of my students at art (we all got a slice.)

I was about to say "that's your most realistic drawing yet!"

This is the ingredients list for the Chocolate Nemesis Cake I make occasionally (I like chocolate) in a 30cm tin:

10 eggs
575g granulated sugar
675g best-quality bittersweet chocolate (70% cocoa solids), broken into small pieces
450g unsalted butter, softened
250ml water
Crème fraîche, for serving

if you ever want to challenge a professed chocaholic, this really sorts the wheat from the chaff

Or at least throw up some images.

It's oddly complicated for me to get a photo from my phone onto GWJ, but this is what it's supposed to look like (mine looked a bit like this but I ignored the creme fraiche and had good quality vanilla ice cream with it instead): IMAGE(https://d1yfn1dfres2va.cloudfront.net/009/74/6c/746ce1c8523c52959027c31b47d8556e_social01.jpg)

I'm now wondering if my local cardiology department takes advance bookings..

As a cardiac patient, let me say that they certainly seem prefer that over taking walk-ins.

Or roll-ins.

I just single handedly (well, me and my now trusty shotgun) beat a full grown friggin’ alien variant in the Alien TTRPG game our group has just started. It felt so good, even though it was all down to lucky dice rolls.

Also, I finally got around to contacting a professional to prune the crab apple tree in my front garden. I’d done it myself in the past but I only had a basic understanding of how to go about it. It looks sooooo good. The day it was done and the day after I kept going out to just stare at it in admiration.

I’m not going to keep posting these but these are the little cakes we were treated to during this week’s art group.

If you are active on social media, you might find these useful:

et al.

Where's the "don't reply to tell me why my criticisms are invalid because I'm 'looking for reasons to dislike it,' whatever that means" sign? (:

Where's the DON'T REPLY TO ME one? I don't need to be specific with a reason.

Then don't post where replies are a core feature of the platform?

What did you want me to not do?

BUT MY THOUGHTS MUST BE HEARD BECAUSE I AM THE MAIN CHARACTER!

Back in the day, we used to create these things called "websites" to post all of our stuff.

Reminds me of my toxic relatives with "You can't convince me Climate Change is man-made and anyway there's nothing we can do to stop it and crops love CO2. So don't bother posting if you're not washed in the blood and ready to witness for Trump."

Last time we went snowboarding in WV we overheard multiple conversations where people decried how short the seasons were getting every year and it was killing the local economy, oh and global warming was a myth. Practically in the same breath.

Yep. It's bizarre. Doublethink in full bloom.

If you order sets directly from the Lego corporation a few times, they start just randomly tossing extra boxes in with the order. None of it has been stuff I would have ordered for myself, but it's all been nicer than I'd expected.

The little "Year of the Dragon" set that they sent with my wife's last order was particularly nice. And those "Brick Headz" things that are Lego's answer to FunCo Pop figurines look really dumb on the packaging, but they actually look pretty good once they're assembled. The package makes them look the same size as Pop figures, but they're a good bit smaller and the weird proportions actually work at that size.

I've started waiting to order until the free gift set is something that I want. I'm not sure that's what they actually want to happen.

Saw a jab at Disney Plus that made me smile: someone called it Disney±.

I just finished the latest Pod Save America episode, where they interview Ben Wikler, the WI Dem. party chair, who goes into detail about this event. Bottom line: it took a serious grass-roots effort to overcome a corrupt GOP system reaching all the way to SCOTUS. It's a very inspiring story.

I'm at Lowes getting water softener salt for my Dad, and I am carpetbombing and blasting apart entire aisle with pungent assticity. It's sublime in the most wonderful way, yet the strength is so extreme it's only a 2 second feeling of terror, then it dissipates.

Sorry. But.. this is a random thing I love right now.

This is kind of a love/hate thing, but my second shot at a cardiac catheterization to put in one or two stents (depending on how it looks when they get in there) is happening Wednesday morning. I’m happy to have another go at this. I know how careful the cardiologists are being, since they pulled out of the first one before complications could arise. Still, I’m super anxious about the procedure, despite intellectually recognizing that it is a minimally risky procedure.

I’ll be fully anesthetized for this one. It’s only the third time in my life I’ve been under general anesthesia, but again, I know how my body will react, so it shouldn’t really be scary. Also it makes the catheter procedure safer, since the anesthesiologist can regulate my blood pressure.

Still, the whole thing is weird. In the back of my mind is a little voice that keeps reminding me that my father died from complications from a similar procedure. So yeah. Doing my best to enhance my calm.

Good luck!
