Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

We finally had our baby! At 42 weeks, we were a bit worried the induction process might be difficult, but it turned out to be as smooth as we could hope for. Mum and baby, both doing well. Our toddler seems to like him so far too, so that's a bonus. For now, at least! Feeling very lucky now.

Yay!

Congrats to you, mum, and toddler!

NOICE!!!

Halfwaywrong, that's all the way right. Congratulation! Heady, tiring days ahead.

Adorable. Congrats!

Thanks everyone, it's much appreciated. I'd like to say more, but I'm too exhausted .
A good kind of exhausted though, I think. Got 4 weeks off work, so savouring that.

Yay!!! Welcome baby and well done Mrs. Halfwaywrong!

Return of the Obra Dinn is living rent free in my head. (Switch)

A friend's folk album just came out, I'm a few tracks in and it's quite good.

Critical Role is back with a new campaign tonight.

Madly in love and trying to get to sleep so I can make a 6am flight to go spend 2 weeks with her.

I do hope it contains a cover of my favourite bird related song:

Or even

I went to Phish last night in Chula Vista, CA with some friends. It’s been about 20 years since I’ve seen Phish. I’m guessing that this is my eighth time seeing them live. Maybe more. Hard to say.

It was freeking INCREDIBLE!!! Best Phish show I’ve ever experienced. Stone cold sober too. I should clarify that I’m sober but so is Trey Anastasio, guitarist, vocalist, songwriter of Phish. Afterwards, comparing notes with my friends, we all agreed that it was probably the best time ever seeing Phish.

Today, Phish-Reddit is losing their goddam minds about how great it was. So, kind of nice to have validation because it seemed odd that for the first time in 20 years of going to Phish and I thought it was the best one. Also confirmed via Reddit - I though that the second half of set two was inspired by the new Dune film. My friends didn’t really get it, but on Reddit there are several people who thought the same thing. Probably not a coincidence.

They do this cool thing where you go to LivePhish.com and scan your ticket with your phone and you get access to the recording of that same performance. All day I’ve been dipping into it and geeking out over it. It’s really dope.

I bet they make an album out of that one...

I'll have to check it. Take care of your shoes!

I’m starting to wonder if the guy who fell off the upper deck at a previous show (and survived) got to make the set list. He certainly inspired the first song, Fluff Head.

He's sure got some powerful pills, oh yeah! Ok thanks all

I've been watching a lot of their YouTube content over the pandemic, mostly in the background while I work. I'd really like to get back to a show once I feel safe being in crowds again. I don't think I've been to one since the early 2000s.

I accidentally left my phone on mute, which I didn't know I could do. So not only did I receive no visual/auditory notifications, nothing at all even popped up on my screen or taskbar. I didn't have that "I should probably reply to that" feeling, nor did any of my facebook group messenger chats syphon away my attention.

I didn't realise until this evening how great that felt. I signed into my normal socials and was surprised how many notifications had stacked up.

I think I'll use this mute feature most days now

I don't have Facebook, but I deleted my twitter a few years ago. The first few days I itched with the habit of going to look at twitter and not having it, but after that, I not only wasn't missing it, I was less annoyed.

Delete Facebook. It's the only way.

I've been pretty happy at work lately. Not sure precisely why. WFH is nice. Manager is hands off unless I need help. Pay is good. And my work load is four hours tops.

Maybe it's the honeymoon phase of a new job but still it's nice.

Mobile Safari now supports extension and its dark mode extension Noir works great. Makes GWJ look pretty sweet.

Is there an Ad blocking one?

Tons. The free version of 1Blocker is pretty good so far. It even has YouTube ad blocking.

Soft but sturdy toilet paper.

So, a couple of days ago, I got an unsolicited email to my Bandcamp account asking if I'm the Ranger Rick that was active in the demoscene in the 90s. He asks because of this mixtape that someone in Lithuania made in 1995:

The intro to that mixtape is a ScreamTracker mod file I wrote earlier that same year. Apparently this is one of a number of cult classic tapes in the incredibly niche "dungeon synth" scene, and the person that contacted me runs a label focusing on this scene.

He is trying to recreate this tape, searching out the original artists who, unbeknownst to them, contributed to it.

Just... how freakin' random is that? It's 2 days later and I still am just baffled and giddy about the whole thing.
