Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

I get that it's rough out there but I'd love to see anything in the 'random thing you love right now' thread.

Highlight of my weekend has been the sun is shining which makes even briefly hanging out in the yard a better escape.

3/15/2020 - Pubs in Ireland asked to close due to Coronavirus.

3/16/2020 - Irish developed testing kit to confirm Coronavirus in 15 minutes.

As prophecy foretold, BadKen.

Also, apartment offices are closed now!

Santa Fe, New Mexico. This city is lovely and the people are great. My GF and I almost canceled our trip which we had been planning since October, but obviously didn't. We may cut it short because things we were wanting to do/see are getting shutdown, but so far everyone seems to be taking good precautions and they are very thankful for our business. Going to try to hit some nature spots/scenic vistas tomorrow and then we will decide if we continue on into Colorado as planned or if we head home.

Go home. It breaks my heart to say it because I'm in Colorado and it's a lovely state, but give us a pass this time and go home.

Everything is closing. Restaurants, museums, zoos, bars, theaters, etc. have all been shut down as of today. Parks aren't closed yet, but there's no guarantee that won't happen tomorrow. Covid-19 is circulating through every part of the state now.

Just go home and wait until this is over.

I love Santa Fe. We were stationed in Albuquerque my 5th-7th grades and we made a bunch of trips up there.

Albuquerque is a nice town. Cool Native museums and stores, great food, some good nerd gathering spots too. And a thriving salsa verde presence (the greatest of the salsas).

TETSUO!

Probably not super safe, but I went out for a walk, after spending the whole day locked up inside, working from home, and it was awesome.

Nice weather, too, not too windy, just chilly enough to be comfortable.

Shouldn't a walk, by yourself or with others you already cohabitate with, be fine?

I love that my neighbor has decided quarantine plus learning a musical instrument is not how we society.

Yea that is what we have decided to do. Half the stuff we wanted to do here today was closed and we have heard it is worse in Colorado. Still had a wonderful time here in NM. Went up to Taos today since we decided not to go to Colorado and it was somewhere we planned to visit on the way there. I could totally dig waking up every morning and looking out to those views.

Motorbike license

Did you see the below? It was on "Akira Day" (147 days til the Olympics start), done by students at Kyoto U near their campus:

I live in a tenement building in Edinburgh. We've started a WhatsApp group for everyone in the stair, in case people have to isolate or get too sick to get groceries etc. It's a small thing but it feels really good. We were already on good terms with most of our neighbours (we've been here ten years) but it is really nice to find out the names of people you just know from the occasional nod, and to be able to offer support and reassurance.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Washing your hands vigorously for 20 seconds with soap and water is decidedly the best way prevent the spread of Covid-19. I’ve been seeing and hearing a lot of tricks for mentally counting out 20 seconds, but most of them bore the buhjeezes out of me, so I came up with my own. This may appeal to many of you as well.

Use the song The New Style by the Beastie Boys to count out your 20 seconds. Here’s how:

Sing, or rap this beginning section in your head, or out loud in public if you prefer, while you turn on the water, wet your hands, and apply soap.

And on the cool check in
Center stage on the mic
And we puttin' it on wax
It's the new style

Now vigorously scrub your hands while rapping this next section of the song:

Four and three and two and one (what up!)
And when I'm on the mic the suckers run (word!)

I’m down with Ad-Rock and Mike D and you ain't
And I got more juice than Picasso got paint
Got rhymes that are rough and rhymes that are slick
I'm not surprised you're on Mike D (my dick)

B-E-A-S-T-I-E
What up Mike D
Ah yeah, that's me

And that’s 20 seconds. If you’re having so much fun that you want to keep scrubbing and rapping out loud in public then this next section will take you all the way to 30 seconds:

I got franks and pork and beans
Always bust the new routines
I get it, I got it, I know it's good
The rhymes I write, you wish you would

I just subscribed to Yousician so that my family can brush up on their piano skills during this time of isolation.

‘Cats’ fans demand Universal Pictures to ‘release the butthole cut’

TV writer Jack Waz was quick to offer a valuable behind-the-scenes nugget. “A VFX producer friend of a friend was hired in November to finish some of the 400 effects shots in @catsmovie,” he wrote. “His entire job was to remove CGI buttholes that had been inserted a few months before. Which means that, somewhere out there, there exists a butthole cut of Cats.” Waz followed up with a mission statement: “Finding this cut is my white whale #ReleaseTheButtholeCut.”

Been following that on Twitter thanks to film critic Hulk

I wonder how much money the poor VFX producer had to spend in therapy to recover from the PTSD after that.

Probably a crap ton

I hear that person presented everyone with a cat ass trophy at the end of their job.

Momgamer posted an update so I'm going to highlight this one more time in case anyone can help her out:
How you can help Momgamer

I have no idea who at Amazon thought a drama/comedy series about a symphonic orchestra would be successful, and I don't know that it was successful, but holy sh*t am I enjoying Mozart in the Jungle right now! This feels like a show that was made for a niche within a niche.

Also Gael Garcia Bernal is amazing in it.

It's so fun and silly. The cameos of classical musicians who play themselves are fun too. Nico Muhly and Nadia Sirota show up in season 2 I think.

My daughter turned 2 today and said, "I love you, Daddy." It is exhausting and back-breaking (literally threw out my back picking her up yesterday), but also a lot of fun to be spending the days with her.

I will keep an eye out! I just watched the first episode of season 2. I still can't believe I watched the whole first season in like three evenings. I'm certainly not proud of it. Then again I only have Prime video for the month, and there are 4 seasons...

Damn fine coffee.
