Random thing you love right now that doesn't deserve its own thread

She’s amazing :D

I mean... Peep Show -> Broadchurch -> Night Manager... She's so talented. And seems really nice too.

Don't forget Hot Fuzz.

I had forgotten Hot Fuzz then I stumbled across her perky, innuendo spouting police constable character on YouTube. Also a delight.

I love my wife, for deciding to order for me an Alienware gaming PC. Low end, but given that my laptop is almost 5 years old, it will be screaming fast.

Alienware Aurora R8

16 GB DDR4 at 2666MHz
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB GDDR5

She's the next Queen Elizabeth on Netflix's The Crown. I can't wait.

Wow, gratz to mudbunny's wife!

Warner Bros Lands Worldwide Rights To Lisa Joy-Directed ‘Reminiscence’; Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson To Star

Reminiscence will be a near-future techno action thriller about a man trying to find his wife, using tech that allows people to relive memories (a'la Strange Days). It's her first time directing a feature (she did an ep. or two of Westworld), and she wrote the screenplay. Her partner Jonah Nolan will be onboard producing, and the article says the movie starts shooting this fall, so it may see a release next year.

If you want the full story, head over to the loathing thread. I know to many it will feel like an odd decision, but I've done a lot of soul-searching and talking. I deeply believe it's the right thing for us.

The following is what I wrote for Facebook.

Some of you know, many do not. Rosie suffers bipolar type 2, which can be far more than the rapid cycling of emotions often depicted in the media. There have been some ups and downs in our relationship, and I daresay the mental illness has made these more extreme than "norm". She's a great, smart, beautiful woman, but these ups and downs have worn on us.

To cut a long story short, one of these "ups" led to Rosie hurting me more than anybody has hurt me before. While some blame can be attributed to the mental illness, we are level-headed enough to understand that it's a mix of many influencing factors. This "up" resulted in a lot of guilt, so much guilt that Rosie tried to kill herself twice. I was there to stop her, twice.

I briefly considered leaving her at the hospital, but it was never really an option. We've been through a lot together, we care deeply for each other, and built a fur-baby family that would destroy us to separate.

Love means a lot, and to me, love means working through things. Trusting, forgiving, and committing even though things can get REALLY hard. Things HAVE gotten really hard, it will take a long time to heal.

This mutually selected ring was meant only as a promise that we will do what's best for each other -- if that meant separating and living our own lives, then that's fine. But it also meant we'd give it a good, honest try. With therapy, tears, and all that comes with trust and love.

But in that moment, when I was giving her the ring it felt proper. We wouldn't put this amount of effort into making something work if we both weren't serious about the end-goal. It's the most convoluted, non-traditional proposal I never could have expected.

But she said yes.

Congrats, man. Congratulations.

Congrats buddy.

I wasn't going to comment, but since you're there... Going forward together isn't always the best solution, and it's not always the best plan. But for some of us, it's one of only a few ways we can continue to live.

I've had some of the hurts you've recently had to endure, and it made me realize that I didn't particularly care whether or not my wife was into monogamy, how much she hurt me, or how much of a fool everyone might think I was. She was the only one and possibly she is only ever going to be the only one. So whatever happens, I'll be with her in heart and spirit, even if I was not with her in body.

That, I'd committed myself to it because I acknowledged it to myself, and to her. I wish you the best of luck, and to always be grounded in your love. It is our north star.

Spoiler: Lego Movie 2 song 'Not Evil'

This song has brought me nothing but joy since I heard it in theatres almost 2 weeks ago (not the song I thought would be stuck in my head from the Lego Movie 2 though).

Congratulations man! I hope y'all work through your troubles.

Also that is a gorgeous ring.

I love that the folks at Critical Role decided to kickstart an actual animated version of one of their adventures. I love as well that in these weird times a group of seemingly genuinely nice people are being supported by their community.

... and supported at a amazing pace:

They blew past their goal and hit about a million in an hour. As of this posting they are cruising past 1.75 million on their first day.

Update: They are past 2.5 million now.

The cool thing about that kickstarter is that it is highly likely they will put all that money to very good use.

Imagine if they could get Rough Draft Studios on this... that would be so awesome!

(yeah, I see they got Titmouse - amazing studio - I just have a soft spot for Rough Draft)

Over 3 million now. I'd also support a Laura Bailey slush fund

The first donation perks to get taken were the 1k and 2.5k ones. Now the 10k is gone and the 20k has only one left. This is nuts! But awesome!

edit* Nope, not them, an edited twitch stream.

Good day (so far...)

1. Visited my new house (under construction) for the first time.
2. School interview - daughter is already well above the level she is required to achieve by the end of next year.
3. Going to see Captain Marvel in 45 minutes.

Finally got my internet/tv/phone (FIOS) back after being down for ~60 hours!

I am gonna internet so hard when I get home! I'm going to put some bad tv on, stream YouTube on my iPad while I play Apex on my pc and randomly call people on the home phone I never use.

New fridge delivered, old one (that they repairman wryly noted was probably older than him) taken away to live on a farm somewhere. We need to let the gasses settle before turning it on but in another 12 hours and we'll be able to refrigerate things at will. Whoo!

Richard Osman’s made up facts on ‘Pointless’ continue to amuse me no end. They did a round on chemical elements. Some one gave the answer ‘Sulphur,’ to which Richard added, “ sulphur, of course, name after the Scottish long jumper David Sulphur.” He went on to maintain that most chemical elements are named after long jumpers except for one that, notably, was named after a triple jumper.

Connecting through Atlanta tonight and at the duty free shop they were sampling Jameson whiskey. Hell yeah

Yesterday, we got new windows and slider for the house. it was a nice warm night.

Congratulations Unicycle! I wish you both all the best in the future.

Whenever I am feeling down, I'll sometimes watch bits of Dragon Ball to feel better. It is a ridiculous power fantasy anime, but sometimes it feels good to live vicariously through these characters when you feel you have no power in your own life. One of my favorite scenes to watch is one of the final bits of the Super anime. It is just so ridiculously hype.

I'm filling in at an office today so I can catch up on the forums and spend some time with all of you!

Yay! I've missed you!
