[trailer] Lone Ranger

After seeing so many stories on entertainment sites about this I was kind of expecting more. To me it seems like rather a typical cowboy action flick. However Jonny Depp is usually quite good so maybe it will surprise me.

Am I the only one fed up of seeing Depp and Bonham-Carter in every film together? Last film I saw them in was Dark Shadows and that was rubbish...

You are not. I had thought they and Burton all needed to quit each other cold turkey, but hearing about this movie and finally seeing the trailer where Depp appears to be yet another mannered, theatrical, pasty (real victory there, since his character is 19th century Native American) weirdo, I think they all need to quit each other and work with people who have the clout and will to tell them "No, stop that bullsh*t."

Anyway, trailer. Unsurprisingly, lots of RAWR for The Lone Ranger, looks distressingly typical.

Looks like a big bucket full of meh.

And this second trailer has me out. It just looks bad.

Johhny Depp halting speech distracting. Make hard to watch. Don't think see.

Maybe in his next film he'll wear blackface.

Think I'll stick with Shanghai Noon for my buddy action comedy western.

Something wrong with that trailer.

So Depp's playing a person of color, and still manages to turn him into a pasty weirdo. That's dedication.

If it's any consolation, Depp has a bit of Cherokee ancestry...that being said, this movie looks kind of rough.

If it's any additional consolation, that's exactly how Tonto sounds in the old school radio shows and TV series.

Gore Verbinski presents: Cowboys of the Caribbean.

When I watched the trailer, I was impressed at how faithfully he had captured the sound of Tonto.

Anyone who doesn't like this is all eyes and no sight. It's Johnny Depp, you beetle-headed, flap-ear'd knaves! (Thanks again, fleabagmatt, for the Shakepearean Insult Mug!)

edited to get my insult *just right*

That's true. But not reassuring.

Looks like something I can turn my brain off for. Perfect! I use this stupid thing all day, I don't need it ruining my movie time.
