Pony Up for Ponies - Achieved!

Pages

My fellow Gamers with Jobs,

I come before you today with terrible news. News to shatter the hearts of millions. News to pull tears from a crocodile. News so horrible, it should be whispered in the profane hallways of ruined temples to ancient gods long dead. Yet I will speak this news here, in a public forum, in hopes that we, the Gamers with Jobs, may unite. And together we may fix this problem so our children, and our children's children, and all generations to come will not have to suffer the atrocity that we are suffering today.

Julian "Rabbit" Murdoch has never written about sparkle ponies.

Weep, my friends. But when you have shed your tears and dried your eyes, come back to this forum with hope in your heart. For the Gamers with Jobs donation drive is upon us! And now, for just $500, we can rectify the sins of our fathers. We can finally have the article on sparkle ponies that we crave.

I wish, my friends, that I had enough money to pay for this endeavor myself. I am sorry that I do not. But together, $500 will be as nothing! We shall overcome this great price and we shall have ponies!

I stand before you to ask if there are any who would join with me and pool our money for this task. I will not take credit for this donation, for the credit will belong to all who believe in my dream of a Rabbit written article on The Secret of Magic Crystals. We are doing this for the future.*

If there are enough people who wish to pool money for this achievement, then I shall set up a PayPal link. All proceeds will go to Gamers with Jobs as they should. But by combining our forces, we may have our sparkle ponies article.

Now who's with me?

--Update 3--
Articles one AND two are in the bag! Article one is the Sparkle Ponies Article, but #2 is open for suggestion.
Go to https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEI2dDA1NzFlUk4xQlNINWdHUW9oS2c6MQ and vote today!

*Also, I suspect, for our amusement.

Hey! No fair! (grin)

When we plebes can have access to the funds in order for use to get to go to conferences, then you can talk about fair. Until then, get ready for sparkle-ponies!!

The start of your post made me think the company was going under despite the sales. Like they spent a million dollars making Sparkle Ponies and couldn't recoup. I felt a pain in my chest for a moment.

I ask you, is the tragedy I outlined not just as horrible? I say a world without a sparkle ponies article is just as horrible as a world without certain game developers!

Ok. Maybe not. But it is still a problem to be rectified.

I think we should force him to write about Darksiders and put that stupid joke to bed, once and for all.

Can we stipulate that he has to finish it? Because, my friends, that is no small feat.

My commitment is that I will take any assignment under this seriously. Anyone willing to commission the piece (which, I should be clear, is my donation to the site -- i'm not going to get the money, I'm trying to get you all to give the rest of the site money) should know my stuff well enough to know that I really just don't write stuff I don't take seriously.

So in other words, you want me to write about Sparkleponies, I'm calling the developer, doing interviews, putting in a solid 15 hours, getting my kids to play it, etc. etc. I will hate you all forever, but I will give it as much effort and attention as I've given a magazine coverstory.

May god have mercy on your souls.

I am in for $10.

Double posting for the sparkles!!!

You should make a thread for that pitch There's two slots!

EDIT: My pitch would be for The World Ends With You Solo Remix or Kingdom Hearts but I don't know how painful that would be to Rabbit (as compared to Elysium).

Also, I'll gladly chip $20 for this.

This alone is worth the cost of the article.

No, Rabbit, you're not getting off that easily.

I'd read it.

15 hours will only get you about a quarter through it.

I'm in for $25.

Stretch goal: get Julian on a flight to Budapest to interview the devs in person. In magyar.

I was wondering if there's a cost to getting the guy who read the Lando article (Graham Rowat) to read this soon-to-be article.

I want Rabbit to play and finish Dark Souls.

SotMC is pretty good though.

Gotta be cruel to be kind, I guess.

The only question is, what is the right measure for this.

I don't know... I'd quite like to see him do an article on "Death vs Correlation: an insider's tale on the downfall of print publication".

Now I wanna do a singalong with you at PAX East.

I hope the $500 is raised, it is a thing I'd like to read.

Donate, and it shall, my friend.

I would be willing to throw in $10 to help the article get created.

I still read that initially as "Causality". Well done.

What would make it extra worthwhile for me would be if Rabbit wrote the article very seriously, but prior to posting it, gave the community an intense, profanity-laden backhanding in an after-credits segment on an episode of GWJCC for putting him through such torture.

That *is* clever.
