Fighting Game Catch-All

I feel sorry for MK week. I doubt many people will pull themselves away from D3 for MK.

If nobody shows due to D3, I'll just push the game back a week. I really want to try the Tag mode in that game.

Namco-Bandai is holding the Soul Calibur 5 World Championship tonight. Info here, http://8wayrun.com/threads/namco-ban... . Worth a watch since this title is up for fight nights soon.

I think this was the event that Namco invited a whole bunch of top European players to participate in. Should be some good matches.

EDIT:
Get to choosing, Bishop!

I'll be online tonight about 9PM EST, if anyone wants to get a BlazBlue lobby going.

Is BlazeBlue CS compatible? I own it but never really played it. I'd be happy to jump in.

Whaaat, I had no idea the release date was so soon (or had been announced for that matter). What's the PC action RPG community term for 'hype'?

Thanks Bishop. I really wish that more of the fighting game streams would get archived. There is a lot of great content produced that is difficult to get ahold of after the fact.

Sadly no, extend is actually CS 3 (before it was CS then CS II), and it's not backwards compatible.

Argh that sucks. Guess I will sit this one out.

Anybody else showing up tonight?

I'm hoping to jump on some time between 8 and 9 eastern. I'm open to playing something other than BB for those not interested in it.

I will be on.

I should be on.

FYI, Dustloop is your one-stop shopping center for anything and everything AkSys. They are also much faster at updating their wiki, so you can already find combos for all the characters in Blazblue CS:EX.

I fell asleep sometime around 9. Woke up this morning when I'd normally get up for work, because that's so what I wanted to do on my day off.

Maybe Saturday I guess.

Good games last night. Hopefully more people can make it on Saturday.

It was brought up last night that playing a game for more than just 1 week, to really get into it and get better at it, is desirable. I agree, and will probably switch around to a longer rotation for each game once we get through a round. I want to gauge turnout for each game first, so make sure to show up for the game of your choice. So far the games with the highest turnout have been Super SF4 and SF x Tekken, and I'm expecting high turnout for Marvel 3, so those are likely to see longer rotations soon.

Anyone up for some Soul Calibur V tonight? I'll be on about 8:30 EST. Want to give it a go after watching the championships the other night.

Heck, I'll play any fighter if someone wants to though. Got the day off tomorrow...game time!

I'd have played, bishop but SC5 hasn't arrived yet. Just ordered a used copy on amazon for $32.

Drat, I didn't see this until it was too late. Next time.

More Blazblue Saturday! I'll be on at 3:00 PM PST for sure, and possibly at 7:00 PM as well.

Yo dawg, I heard you wanted another crazy tournament to watch. France has got you covered this weekend.

EDIT: My copy of SC5 arrived, so I'm game to play whenever I'm on. Otherwise I'll be working to unlock Pyrhha Omega. I read she's almost identical to Sophitia, who really should have been in the game, so it's a requirement that I unlock her ASAP.

Just discovered this thread and it sounds fun. I've been on a fighting game kick of late despite not being very good at them so we'll see how I do at not being a free win. Dunno if I'll make BB this afternoon though.

Sorry guys. I've got some playoff hockey to watch tonight.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 this week. Prepare to be taken for a ride.

EDIT: If you're planning to play Soul Calibur 5 when it comes around next week, take the time to beat the story mode. It's only 20 battles, and you'll unlock most of the remaining characters to play with, plus a ton of stages.

New Tekken Tag Tournament 2 trailer, with footage taken from some other new videos:

FYI, this game will be added to the roster the day it releases. TTT was the game that got me into fighting games, I've been waiting so long for TTT 2.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 starting in 1.5 hours. Be there!

It looks like I'll be a little late, but provided the game doesn't go to overtime, I will be there.

So yeah, we're headed to overtime. I'll be there as soon as the game's over.

Good games last night. I mean, my games weren't all that great, but I was starting to feel things a little more by the end. Getting used to the mechanics unique to VS games. I didn't always pull them at the right time, but I was happy that I was starting to use DHCs. I never quite remembered cancelling into XFactor and then pulling another Hyper, but came close.

I just wish I was going to be around this weekend for some more matches.

The characters that I learned in Training turned out to be my most ineffective in battle. By the end of the night I found a team that more suits my play style. See you all Saturday!

So much of every fighting game is just doing this. I find it's particularly true in the Vs games though, since the faster pace of the game means less tolerance for mistakes due to the character not working the way you'd like them to work.

Good games. I really thought I had a way to handle the zoning characters with Zero, but I screwed up and got hit by too many foot dives. I should have switched to Wesker earlier and abused Samurai Edge. Next time Gadget, next time!

Waited 30mins but didn't see anyone else online. Can we use some google doc to indicate if we will be in attendance?

Oh sorry, I forgot to post here that I won't be around today.

I'll take this opportunity to remind everybody that the Saturday time is 3:00 PM PST. It is NOT 7:00 PM, that was a one-off. If 7:00 works better for you, then please say so and we can determine if a time change is needed.

EDIT: Bishop told me nobody showed up at 7 either, that's too bad. I figured MvC 3 would have a larger showing, given how many people say they own it. What happened?

Moving on, this week is Soul Calibur 5, and the final week of jumping around to various games. After this, I'll pick a few based on attendance, and we'll play those for 1 month each. This way we can really dig in and improve our skills.

Regarding an attendance sheet, I'll try to set something up so people aren't sitting around hoping others will show. I can also set up a Steam event, so folks on their PCs will get a reminder.

Sorry to get in so little time last week, guys, and for the week dedicated to my main game! Just had a busy week and weekend, and been taking a brief break from fighting games. But I'm still in there.
