Boo! Your new name is officially oilychicken.

Regarding attendance, I heard that Saturday didn't happen. The next best day, according to the doodle, is Sunday. Would it work better for folks if we switched the weekend day from Saturday at 7PM PST to Sunday at 7pm PST?

Sundays would be better if they were a little later. That's 5:00 CST and I am probably going to be outside with the kids. Too much later and it's into TF2 time.

That's actually 9pm CST evil. Sunday night isn't great with Game of Thrones and Mad Men both airing and having to navigate the spoiler mine-field Monday mornings. I would be amenable to combat a bit earlier in the day.

The originally scheduled time was 3PM PST, but nobody except Bishop ever showed up until 7. I'm open for 3PM PST on Sunday, how about that?

3PM PST works in general for me on Sundays, but this week I'm visiting family so I won't be around.

Eh, moved my SFxT talk to the thread for the game.

I should still be on tonight when we're supposed to start, though I have little hope of doing anything in this game. I can't find a character that feels good and movelists everywhere seem to be incomplete

The in-game movelist is comprehensive. If you're having trouble with character choice, I suggest sticking with someone who worked for you in SF4, or the closest analog to them. Run through their trials, that should give you a good starting point.

The only character I'm comfortable with in SF4 is Blanka.

Oops.

Good games last night, particularly at the end when we did 2v2 partner matches. I'm thinking of making that the default format when this game comes up, any objections?

Regarding the weekend session, it looks like the doodle info is way out of date, so let's just pick a day/time via posting. Here are the options for consideration:

Friday @ 7PM PST
Saturday @ 3PM PST
Sunday @ 7PM PST

My vote goes to Sunday @ 7PM, since I can always watch Game of Thrones on HBO GO later.

Yeah, I had fun last night. I wasn't very good, but I did start to get a bit of a feel for things as the night went on. I just need a couple sessions in training mode to fully explore a few different characters.

I'm out of town Saturday and Sunday and with an early flight Saturday morning, I can't commit to late Friday. I may just need to spend my time getting up to speed with Blazblue.

Friday is TF2 night for me and when I don't have that I have other things. I can't say I'll ever make a Friday night unless it is late (8PM CST at the earliest). Sunday is iffy as well but the time isn't too bad. Saturday is possible but will vary week to week especially during soccer/arena football. If this continues Sundays during The Walking Dead are out.

I liked the team format much better. I was more able to concentrate on one character and was helped by others often. Sorry to flake out on the last match. I was looking at a julia move list and didn't realize that I was tagged in.

I'm going to be online tomorrow for some tutorial matches in SF4 and SFxT, probably starting around 4:00 PM PST or so. I'll be going over the following fundamentals:

- Safe and unsafe moves (i.e. frame data and what it means)
- Cross-ups
- Techniques for going on the offensive
- Dealing with rush down and corner pressure

Totally informal, show up if/when you can. If you can't make it during this time, but would like to get in on this, let me know what time does work for you and we can arrange something.

I will be there, sensei.

I may be around for the heck of it.

I may be as late as 4:15PST. If no one else is around, sorry for missing the designated time.

I would probably show except that IPL4 starts this afternoon. That's probably going to take up most of my free time this weekend.

I'm available all afternoon (except for about half an hour to walk my dog), so if an earlier time is better for everyone I can accommodate. My hope is to get people having trouble with either game more comfortable, and thus able to have more fun on our nights.

Thin_J, would an earlier time work for you? I'll still stick around until the 4:00 slot for those who already agreed to that time.

EDIT: Ah, I see IPL4 is all day today. Well, this will be happening if you can spare the time to show up.

Depending on who's playing when I might hop on anyway. There's always a few players I'm just not interested in that end up on stream during these things. We'll see.

Since we haven't decided on a better day yet, let's do the second gathering at 3:00 PM PST tomorrow.

EDIT: I'll be a bit late to this, maybe 3:30 or so.

Also, it came up last night that not everybody here knows about the Good Morning Mister Masters video, to which there is a reference in SFxT. This must be rectified:

See you all soon.

I think group stages at IPL will be mostly wrapped up or at least winners ironed out pretty soonish so I should be able to hop on tonight. I won't be on for hours this time though. The GSL team league finals start at 8 eastern time. I've watched every match of the entire season, most of them live at 4am in the mornings. Not gonna miss the finals

The Challenge Mode in BlazBlue: CSE is pretty awesome. It teaches you the basic moves and then goes into progressively more wild combos. The game seems like a departure from our SF-centric focus so far, so it'll be kinda crazy.

As I only have this on the vita, I will not be around. Maybe if I'm tempted.

This is precisely why I wanted to have an AkSys game on the list. Their games are deeper than Capcom fighters, and thus harder to master, but they also do a much better job of introducing you to the various systems. This specific game may get replaced by the upcoming Persona game (also made by AkSys), but I'm hoping to keep both on the list for variety.

If you decide to try the arcade mode, do not get too frustrated by the final boss. You always face an Unlimited character as the final battle, and it can be controller-flingingly frustrating.

EDIT: Week 4 (did I really start this a month ago?!?) begins, so get ready for insane antics in Blazblue. When I set up the lobby on Wednesday, I'm going to ban Unlimited characters to keep things fair, so plan appropriately if you're practicing.

I'm probably out for BlazBlue. Can't rent it and, to be honest, I don't want a deeper, harder to master fighting game. I actually like SF4 for iOS. Not having to worry so much about perfect execution feels so...free.

I'll be online tonight about 9PM EST, if anyone wants to get a BlazBlue lobby going.

I may come and join you, but I lost 100 BP in SFxT last night, and I must regain my honor! I knew I should have just left it at 1024...

EDIT: I made a slight tweak to the schedule, since it turns out quite a few people have Soul Calibur 5, and we were looking pretty Capcom heavy for the next few weeks. Ultimate MvC 3 has moved up a week, and Soul Calibur 5 is taking the old MvC 3 slot. The final week will be split between the less popular titles, those being SF2 HD Remix, SF3 Online, and maybe some Tekken 6 depending on who shows up (not many people said they have these games).

Anyone who doesn't have Tekken should get it. It's not as great as Tekken Tag Tournament (I'm not a fan of the wall combos) but it plays very well and it's cheap. You can get it on Amazon for less than $15 shipped (13.22 and prime eligible) new and for about $10 used.

I feel sorry for MK week. I doubt many people will pull themselves away from D3 for MK.

Namco-Bandai is holding the Soul Calibur 5 World Championship tonight. Info here, http://8wayrun.com/threads/namco-ban... . Worth a watch since this title is up for fight nights soon.
