Found this thread from the M:TG catch-all. Tagging. Not sure I even have any games on the current rotation but I do enjoy VF5 Final Showdown and DOA 5 on the 360. Any traction for those two games here?
I have DoA5. It's very much another DoA game. A lot of tweaks to things, minor changes to characters, but otherwise it's DoA.
Oh, and they took out Leon, which upsets me. Always preferred him over Bayman.
Thanks, ahrezmendi. Sorry to hear the regularity died off recently. I never was a DOA player before #5 but picked it up after reading many positive reviews and seeing a Black Friday sale at the local GameStop. I had played the DOA4 demo way back and was firmly "meh" about that one.
To my relatively noobish fighter eyes, DOA5 shares a pretty similar feel to VF5 in that it there's the simple button layout, it's not as combo-centric as Tekken, perfectly approachable on a button-mashing level but once you get into the timing of holds/counters it requires a lot of practice.
I was aware of DOA's reputation for breast physics but honestly feel it shows about as much skin as the next modern 3D fighter with the exception of VF.
Just to be clear, I have no objection to some good virtual jiggle physics.
I'd say Friday evenings are most clear for me. Thursdays would also work and whatever free time that can be scratched together over weekends.
Nice, nice. I'm also up for Soulcalibur V since I grabbed that on the cheap recently. That one is a lot of fun.
I was considering posting an EVO heads up here myself. I miss fighting games, but Dota is all-consuming. However, I am looking forward to a lot of EVO this weekend.
Speaking of EVO, are there any good places to find replays of matches? There's been some uploaded to youtube, but it's hard to get a read on where each match falls in terms of tourney progress/chronology. I've tried getting to SRK's EVO site, but I haven't gotten the page to load yet. :\
I found some matches here: http://ca.ign.com/articles/2013/07/1..., includes the PA4 grand finals. But haven't found any organized vod list yet.
Top 8 for P4A, KoF, and AE were all spectacular.

Saturday - 3PM
I remember the KoF finals being pretty close. But maybe that was some of the matches leading up to the grand finals. P4A was definitely one-sided.
The UMvC3 finals were great. I missed Justin Wong's first comeback series, tuning into the stream just to hear the casters losing their sh*t and seeing a mob on stage. But he consistently dug himself out of some pretty deep holes.
My schedule is a bit screwed up at the moment and I don't have the consoles hooked up yet at my new place, but I wouldn't mind getting a little fighting action in. It'll probably be a week or two before that's feasible though. And I was never the most reliable attendee.
Huh...there's a lot of pretty decent coverage of EVO from some of the mainstream sites.
This has all the VODs for Justin's journey through top 8: http://kotaku.com/the-best-storyline...
I have a fight stick for PS3. Interested?
FWIW, I'm trying to go PC only. One of those new Fightstick Pro 2s that haven't even shipped yet (which is upsetting considering Ultra unlocks tomorrow).
If they'd put out a PS4 version bundled with a fight stick I'd be there in an instant, but as it is I may just wait for a sale and play some Smash Brothers in the mean time.
You're not the only one to comment on this being released for PS3/360 instead of XBone/PS4. That's not uncommon for Atlus however. Persona 5 is a PS3 game, just like Persona 4 was a PS2 game well into the PS3 life. Also not uncommon for Aksys if you look at the Guilty Gear games.
My copy arrived, and I checked out some more reviews. Sounds very positive, I'm looking forward to trying out the new characters tonight.
Actually Persona 5 is coming out on PS4 so hah! But I do see your point, but for something like this I'd want to invest in a decent fight stick and I'm not willing to do that on what will soon be a dead system.
Huh, I missed that it was coming to both. That's good news.
There's only one stick I'd buy for my PS3, and that's the TE2 which can switch between PS3 and PS4. Or if you like your sticks Persona themed, there's also this one.
I wouldn't consider the PS3 dead, at least not for fighting games. Until a major release lands on PS4 all the play will be on PS3. And I'm not ready to consider Guilty Gear Xrd or Mortal Kombat X major enough, even though they'll certainly do well. It's going to take a new Street Fighter 4 to switch the community over to the PS4.
EDIT: Would you look at that. I didn't know pre-orders had opened up. Consider me sold.
Hmm.. very tempting. But I think I'll keep my fingers crossed on a sale for now, if only for the sake of my budget. Still I appreciate you pointing it out. I know I'll never really get into fighting games in a big way but it's always fun think about.
Keep in mind that a lot of stuff is hitting the PC and 360 sticks work perfectly for them.

Also, PS4 is off to a really slow start and the XBox One is a non-starter there. Persona is incredibly popular in Japan right now, so there's definitely financial incentives to keep P4A on the last generation of hardware. I wouldn't rule out a PS4 version or 3rd game in a year or two.
