Cincinnati S&T - Saturday 15th September

Pages

My basement is finally done enough to warrant a little celebration. Here are some details:
Date: Saturday, September 15th, 4pm-??
Location: My house in Cincinnati (Oakley neighborhood)
To do:: Board games, food, drinks

I'm thinking the plan will be for folks to show up around 4pm or so. We'll eat snacks and discuss options for dinner (pizza or carry out).
I'll provide some snacks and beer. I should still have two of my homebrews on tap (woo!). I'll have some mexican coke, too. Please feel free to bring something to share if those don't meet your needs I know there are some non-drinkers out there.
I'm thinking we should focus more on short-form boardgames and more casual stuff. As much as I enjoy Arkham Horror, I'm going to burn out on it if we play it here and then again at Pencon.
I have Carcassonne, Munchkin, Pandemic plus expansion, and Fluxx. If someone can't bring Cards Against Humanity I will find a way to beg, borrow or steal a copy. I'm thinking I'll pick up Gloom as it looked interesting on TableTop.
Let me know if you're planning on attending. Significant others are more than welcome. I'll PM my address to folks who RSVP.

Are board game virgins welcome?

I'm definitely in. I'm not sure if both Lady Colleen and I will be able to make it, but I'm confident one of us will represent. That will be the day we are actually rolling into Cincy. The dog and the cat may both be a bit freaked out.

I can bring Cards Against Humanity, Wiz-War (only good if we have 4 or less, or enough to split into groups), Give Me the Brain, and Gloom. We left those out of the packing boxes.

Most definitely!

I am in as well, super excited!

Erik and I both have Cards Against Humanity. I've also got High Noon Saloon and Core Worlds from GenCon and they're both great shorter games.

Ah damn. I am going to be on vacation out of the state that weekend. Maybe another time.

Count me in then!

Dang. Prob your last chance before the baby!

Awesome!

It'll depend on work as always for me, but I'll certainly try to show

I should be able to swing down that way.

I would totally be in if you didn't pick the weekend that all of my relatives are coming in from out of town to celebrate my son's first birthday, next time. Either that or we could do one at my place in the future. I need to meet more of the mid-west goodjers seeing as I am a new Ohioan and don't have a group to play with anymore.

I will be there.

Hmm, would the next weekend work better for folks? I'm not adverse to pushing it out a week if that means we MonoCheli and Erik could make it, and Rocky is better rested.

Whaaaaaaaaaat? I didn't know this many people from Cincinnati were on here! Mt. Washington myself. Sadly, with all the wedding stuff going on for the next two months, I'm out. :X Every weekend up to the event is basically housework, maintenance, etc..

I'm good with whatever works best. I'll still be on Pacific time, so this starts at 1 PM my time. I'll be good for awhile.

By your place does that mean the Castle?

The following weekend would work for me, we don't have anything crazy planned for that weekend that requires my attention so I bet I can dip out and leave work to the lady.

Yep

I would totally be down for gaming sometime at the Castle.

Also the 15th would be fine with me too. There's a better chance that Colleen would be able to join as well, since our pets wouldn't be freaked out from moving. Whatever works best for the most folks.

I'm flexible. If pushing it a week means more Goodjers then so be it!

Hmm, I've heard the 8th might mean a visit from our more northern Ohioan brethren. I'll let them speak for themselves however.

Oh sorry. I wasn't trying to guilt you into anything. If the 15th works better, the 15th works better.

But yeah, Doak, Toph and I can come down if it's the 8th. Maybe NSMike too, I didn't ask him yet.

Oh, it totes doesn't matter to me. I'd just like to accommodate the most people, giving slight preference to Rocky since he's new to the area and travel plus moving is double suckage.
Edit: I had one other goodjer mention to me last night he might be able to make it on a weekend other than the 8th.

Honestly I'm good with either the 8th or 15th. Just from a tiredness standpoint I'll be more well rested by the 15th, but I'm happy with the 8th too.

The 15th works better for me. I can definitely make it then.

I'll be gone on the 8th (vacation, yay!), but I might convince the wife to come down with me on the 15th. Either way, have fun!

I was surprised, too. Norwood here.

The 15th may work a bit better for me, but I am probably flexible for either. The 15th would allow me to bring the Mrs.

Well I don't live in Cincinnati but I now live close enough (Hocking Hills area) that I could make the drive for a bit of fun and friends. I also have left my family and friends back in New York so have been feeling a bit alone. Not to mention I am now only working with women on a day to day basis and need man time with other dudes.

I'm down with the 15th, either way. Sounds like this could be the biggest Cinci meetup yet!

We're gonna do the 15th, since it means we can get Erik, MonoCheli, and Fredrik_S, and perhaps do a better job of welcoming Rocky and Colleen to the area. I saw Karmajay might be able to make it on that date too. I'll update the OP to reflect the change. Mark your calendars please
We'll miss the NE Ohio crew but we'll see all of them at Pencon

For those worried, my goal is for us to focus on more casual stuff. We're a friendly lot and are more than willing to teach new games as we go. I strongly suspect we'll play one or two short-form games and then fall victim to the black hole of Cards Against Humanity.

I'll post again on the Monday before to get a final head count.
Right now for the 15th I have:
Rocky and Colleen
MonoCheli
OG_Slinger
EriktheRed (Is yo baby mama coming?)
Fredrik_S
muraii + mrs
Pyroman + (plus michelle?)

I haven't heard confirmation for the 15th from Trueheart or AnimeJ but I'll ping them on Twitter. We know Thin_J's schedule is always pretty much up in the air.
If you know any other GWJers in the area, or see a location that looks close on someone who hasn't checked in here yet, please feel free to shoot them or me a PM.

That's cool, Phish. I saw it leaning that way. Besides, we'll see most of you in October =)

And if we're not seeing you in October, perhaps you have some hard questions you need to ask yourself like, "I can come to this but I can't drive to Hocking Hills for an awesome weekend?"

My schedule's not up in the air, it's just crappy all the time

My "weekend" being Thursday and Friday certainly doesn't do me any favors though.

We'd love to make it to Pencon, but that is going to be the weekend we take possession of our new home. So it's both good and bad. I'm sure this won't be the last time we get the chance to meet the NE Ohio GWJers
