Guild Wars 2 Catch All

I just hit level 30! Yay! Now I can do AC story mode, I have received the mail for it.

Now the fun part, how do you guys normally get a group together for that dungeon? And how can I get there beside running to it? Is there a teleport option for group to a dungeon?

And how long would that dungeon be?

I'd say most dungeons are up to an hour long. Some like Sorrow's Embrace or Arah seem quite long, although SE was kind of cool for the ending. Usually between Lion's Arch, the closest city (Black Citadel in the case of AC) or in the zone the dungeon is located in, you'll find some people looking for group.

AC is one of the longest. I have been in story runs that have taken up to 2 hours. I avoid AC like the plague.

If you're in the same zone as the dungeon, you'll get a prompt that'll teleport you inside when the group leader enters. But otherwise there's no teleporting to the dungeon other than the regular waypoints, so you'll need to at least get into the zone on your own.

This isn't true. I've gotten the popup several times when on the complete other side of the world or even in towns. Also, I've gotten it for a run through a dungeon on a different server.

The one thing I don't know, is if there is a way to be transported back to your orginial TP'ing spot. I've always just TP'd to LA at the end, so I'm not sure what would happen if you walked out the front door. I imagine you'd end up at the start of the dungeon and not where you TP'd from.

I got an email offering the refer-a-friend thing, so I guess that's live now.

The GW2wiki has a bunch of LS information, such as the timetable for the world events: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_...
And the main page has more information than when I last saw it: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-ga...

3EST on a Friday? That seems like a dumb time!

They've got more than one time zone to think about. When you're doing events globally you'll never please everyone.

Linsey Murdock Unveils New High End Ascended Gear

TLDR: Kind of similar to GW1. Monsters are getting a new condition 'agony' that can only be mitigated by infused armor. Infusion is a new type of upgrade socket only found on ascended armor (for now), and have 3 types, defensive, offensive and omni. You get the infusions from the mystic forge.

Ascended armor is between exotic and legendary, and the text is pink. Initially they're only doing rings and back ascended items, and you'll get the rings from the new dungeon, and the back from the mystic forge. Eventually you'll be able to get all items of ascended quality, and legendary items will be equal in stats to ascended.

Thank goodness because the Legendary items have some crazy stuff you have to get.

Well, that means I'll need two sets of new armor. A dungeon set with infusion for just that dungeon, and an upgraded set to transfuse my current armor's stats with for everything else.

There's a great big hoo-ha going on right now about whether infused signifies a gear treadmill or not. Personally I'm not too thrilled about it as it's presented right now.

I don't like it one bit. Even less do i like the agony mechanic where you will need to grind for agony resist gear and infusions in order to run certain things. Yuk

Ppl are panicking over nothing, just like they have every single time a change to mechanics has been announced.

It's potentially not just a change to mechanics, but a change to the game philosophy of not needing to grind.

Back in GW prophecies, going through the campaign, you got to the level 20 cap, you would pretty easily get the stuff required for 20 armor, and you would get the infusion for resisting spectral agony during the course of one of the storyline missions.

The way this looks for GW2, they launched the base game and in a content patch (which I think we'll be seeing a good few of, especially early in it's life) they're adding the first of many new bits of armor/upgrade that are probably required to do some content, so it moves from being decently geared (which is easy to do, think GW1 again) and just doing the content you want to, to going through a checklist to qualify yourself.

The ascended (and by extension legendary) tier is also 8% better in stats than exotic, so they're raising the amount of hill you have to climb to get to get to peak where you are equal with everyone else.

The assumption in that statement being that everyone is already on that peak, which the vast majority is not. Nor is everyone actually climbing that particular hill. The people that are being "penalized" by this are the ones who rushed a chase to exotics..which are mostly the same people that have been complaining about a lack of things for them to do. Now that Anet offers them something else to chase, which is what they've been bitching about for weeks/months, they turn around and complain some more. Anet cannot win with these ppl and honestly I couldn't care less about their opinions at this point.

The only area where a player wearing "only" exotics would be at an actual disadvantage compared to full-ascended players is in WvW.. and an 8% stat difference between two players is laughably irrelevant in that context. Especially since many characters there aren't even lvl 80, let alone fully exotic.

As for the "gated content" concerns, from what I can tell the new dungeon will 100% accessible without any infusions. It has a selectable level of difficulty(which does also grow on it's own over several continuous iterations) and it's only the higher levels that will feature agony(or have enough of it to make infusions a must-have).

Our Studio Design Director Chris Whiteside just posted this:

“I’d like to respond to concerns players have raised about ascended items. Please keep in mind that we’re releasing this as one portion of a massive November update that introduces and improves many aspects of challenge, progression, and rewards. With this and upcoming updates, we view ourselves as introducing large amounts of content with supporting systems and features, akin to an expansion pack, building on Guild Wars 2 through a series of live releases. So it’s important for us to be able to add an expansion pack’s worth of progression and rewards to support that content.

Our goal is not to create a gear treadmill. Our goal is to ensure we have a proper progression for players from exotic up to legendary without a massive jump in reward between the two. We will slowly add the remaining ascended gear items and legendary items in future updates to allow people time to acquire them as we add exciting new content that deserves exciting rewards. We will not be adding a new tier of gear every 3 months that we expect everyone to chase after and then get the next set and so on.

Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content. PvP will remain unaffected to ensure our intended PvP balance going forward. We are also working on other reward and progression systems for the game that tie into current and new content and features. As you know we care very much about your support and opinion and are listening intently to what you say.
Finally we look forward to hearing your thoughts on the upcoming content, and we will ensure we share our thoughts with you on the experiences we share in the Lost Shores."

If someone has a spare invite, I'd like to take a look at GW2. Let me know and I'll PM my email to you.

PM me your email and I'll send you an invite.

You can just use the form to send to any email and just dispense codes, rather than having to go to an email. PM incoming with your code. My two other codes are 1BBJ9F-WQMRF-X1VP-DMD-7FT41RW and 1BBJ9D-NVD2G-HTQN-3FS-R29PWDC, which I'm pretty sure should be used at https://register.guildwars2.com

Thanks, downloading now, appreciate it.

Anyone else need an invite? I have three unused (everyone I would send one to already plays ).

Hopefully the codes aren't limited to the email.

Game designer Leah Rivera shared more information on the new Fractals of the Mist Dungeon.

Two things I hadn't realized:

* Any level character can try it, as it boosts everyone up to 80.

* You can stop after a "run" and come back at later date, with it essentially saving your team's progress (by scaling the dungeon to the highest common level attained by all of the team members).

Dreadful lag in Lion's Arch. I wasn't really intending to do the Lost Shores event (way too much hassle to be online at specific times for it) but I did wander over for a look. Just a mass of avatars gyrating at 1 minute per frame, appearing to have not very much fun at all judging from the comments in local. Hard to do anything really.

What a train-wreck. Is there a good reason they didn't just instance this?
