Guild Wars 2 Catch All

I just want to make sure the stuff I have checked in is registered, the main thing is my minipets.

I do want to get some more time in with the game, I'm managing to get a couple of hours a week in, some more points should come through play.

Yeah, I'm thinking of spending my accumulated money on a couple of armour sets - get some more points that way. I'm also going to finally beat Eye of the North and (maybe) Nightfall.

I have 13 points right now. There are a couple more I could get without too much effort. I refuse to grind deeds.

More than anything, I'm enjoying playing Guild Wars again. It's been a long time.

I'm going through EOTN myself - almost finished with Norn and moving to Asura. We should try to organize a GWJ party for finishing all the missions.

I'm game. Look for Jeron Bloodfist.

Are you guys in the guild? I'm running as Malla Evendell, mostly.

I am not, and could use an invite.

I'm not an officer, or I would give you one. I think Devilstick is the go to person for invites. He gave me my invite.

I can invite, will get it done a little later Stengah. Anyone else wants an invite must just post in the thread.

*edit*

Done, Stengah you're in. Nihilo, since you seem to be most active I promoted you to officer so you can invite, it's also nice to see officers on the recent activity list.

So begins my reign of terror! Who wants to go to Sorrow's Furnace?

Agreed. Good to have an extra person to hand out invites. I've recently cleaned up the officer list, to cut down on the risk from the accounts of long-inactive officers getting hacked. Hopefully I didn't undo your promotion of nihilo.

Since officers don't have to be online at the same time to send invites, just post here or in the other thread with a character name if you need an invite.

Now that the Hall of Monuments calculator is online, I suspect more folks will be online a bit more often. I know I'm evaluating what I need to get my 30 points.

Personally I don't mind. It seems like a nice way to get more content into the game, while both tackling the problems that development costs money, and that they're not charging a sub. Also I would expect it to be peripheral extra dungeons not essential to any campaign, like they now sell the bonus mission pack that used to be free to some.

Like you say, people jump on the "OMG evil microtransactions" bandwagon too easily.

edit: They updated the article to clarify microtransaction dungeons are a possibility, not a confirmed fact, so my rant about game sites exaggerating information no longer applies.

I personally don't see what the big deal is. GW2 is a F2P game for all intents and purposes and the microtransaction model has worked fabulously for Turbine. Emulating that model is fantastic for them and fantastic for their players as well.

How is GW2 a F2P game? Not having to pay a subscription fee is not the same thing as not having to pay anything to play.*

*That said, I have absolutely zero problem with microtransactions, especially if done properly.

It's F2P except for that part where you pay $50 for the game. In other words, it's not F2P.

edit: That came off a bit snarky. I love the GW model, because its a simple one. You pay for the game, you play. Done. Easy to budget.

I looked over the rewards listed on the Wiki. I was worried there would be some item I wanted to have very badly. But I can do without the titles and the pets and all that stuff. Its cool but the only item that interests me is the fiery dragon sword.

And even then, while that sword was really neat I'm sure the artists have created something even better by now.

I think that, like most Guild Wars bonuses, there's nothing 'must have' there. It's all 'cool to have' stuff.

And getting a few rewards shouldn't be onerous. Just collecting heroes, a few pets and minis while finishing the campaigns will get you a chunk of points. And I am intending to try finish the campaigns before GW2 drops.

Put all my minis in my Hall, I'm up to 8 points now. As soon as I get the Hero tapestry that should get me a few more.

Played a bit with my Monk for the first time in months. I've totally forgotten everything, and after playing Mesmer a Monk is really boring. It's all just about watching health bars.

I would love an invite into the guild. this means, of course, that i have to disband my own guild.

Done.

I wish EDGE would subdivide their rss feed. Great coverage, but I can't drink from the hose.

Is it possible to get an invite to the guild?

I started playing again a month or so again and picked up Nightfall during the steam sale. I am currently trying to finish EotN (to unlock the tapestries and heroes), then Factions (my main character started in Factions, although I have older characters I started in Prophecies before it was called Prophecies), then I will tackle Nightfall (for more heroes, and some Necro skills i want)

character: Tadamori Yoshi

Do I need to drop my current guild first, or can I do that as part of the invite? I am in a guild that I must have joined the last time I played GW, and there have been no officers and only 1 other member active the whole time I have been back.

I was fortunate enough to be invited into the GW1 alpha (2003) and to the ArenaNet office for Community Day 2004. Back then, the team was about 30-40 people. This video says there are 250 employees now. That's a hell of a lot of growth for a company with essentially one game.

One thing that has remained constant - ANet has had the best artists in the industry for the past 6+ years.

I can send an invite your way, you do need to drop the current guild first though.

This year. In 2009 they were aiming for the end of 2010, but it's clearly slipped to this year. The media thing heated up last year. Playable demo this past fall. Things are moving forward.

It's not out because they've been sitting on a buttload of cash and have had the time to seemingly implement a bazillion new features.

Thanks!

I have dropped my guild like a [TODO: insert cool phrase about something that is dropped all the time]

Next 5 year noob question: Do I have to be online for you to be able to invite me? If so, I am going to try to be on ~10am-12pm MST Sat and Sun
