Guild Wars 2 Catch All

The Dev comments in that thread are fun. Really like that a year in they still have humor in their interactions.

I forgot how crazy-fast one can level in this game. Every time my story quest progress, I 100% the zone it's in before continuing. But then I'm 10 levels above that point in the story as a result or some crazy thing like that :)

You need to spill the secret of that. I'm getting 100% on every zone I'm going through, harvesting everything I come across and feel like I'm barely keeping up with the story level.

weird, i always have been ahead of the curve. Try killing a lot of non hostile (yellow) creatures as you're running around. They often have a huge amount of bonus xp.
Do some crafting as well, you can get a bunch of levels from that, remember to discover as much as possible rather than just queue up a bunch of rubbish. Once you're crafting blues salvage them for luck, or toss some in the mystic forge. 4 of a type can, or could, get you some decent stuff.

Also, do every event you see as events > hearts when it comes to experience.

Confusion makes more sense when you're doing champs, dungeons etc where it gets a little more time to tick, especially as there are fewer classes using confusion, you get less lost DPS due to the damage type stacking rules.

Ah cool thanks all. Ok I'll keep it in the plan for champs.

Anyone in the guild with a SurveyMonkey account?

we need one person to sign us up for https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/t...

You have an unclosed 'quote' block at the end of your second sentence (above GrandmaFunk's quote).

I imagine it will calm down eventually, but for EU reset we currently have a queue on all four maps (I don't know how long, since I've been waiting since just after reset and still not in). There are commanders waiting here that I have never seen in WvW, ever. Normally there is a queue for reset night, but not a long one and not on all maps. I guess that just shows that if you dangle a carrot people will come

Even then, power/shatter based builds are more effective.

Well signing up is free so I can try and take care of it this weekend. We used to use survey monkey a bit when I was in grad school.

Edit... for some reason the quoting function stopped working for this post.

Well for now the newness is probably a big thing that draws people.

but the seasons have a lot of interesting things going. WvW skill reset per season is big, now people like myself wont be as reluctant to spend what few points they have. Rewards (however crappy they will be) will also address the idea of meaning and progression for WvW in a way that just wasnt there before.

Should be interesting, I certainly plan to WvW more over the first season. Are the matchups shorter or still one week?

I think they are still one week. BTW does anyone know if we made silver or bronze?

I was afraid of that.

We're sadly heading into 7 weeks of being ground up under the boots of the silver league.

our best "chance" for a balanced match will be against IoJ and CD... which we did just a few weeks ago and was arguably the worst match we've had in 2013.

maybe our PvE hordes will magically make a difference.

Edit: my traumatic memories of those 3 weeks vs IoJ/SBI/CD/DH have apparently all merged, we never fought IoJ and CD in the same week, IoJ was our SBI dance partner.

FSP is in the EU silver league. Looking forward to some decent matches ... assuming I can get into WvW tomorrow (I couldn't tonight).

NSP is in a strange place. We are about as effective as we can be as a disorganized server with few commanders of . . . skill? We get trounced whenever we meet an more organized server. The problem is I do not see how we improve without importing new blood, and even then, people seem to have a strong independent streak made worse if the commander is just plain too bossy or annoying no matter how good he or she is. Silver is going to be challenging to us because I believe we have not beat one server in that category.

FSP has a number of dedicated guilds of healthy size, and we received a number of guilds recently as transfers before the season started. They put a lot of effort into ensuring the silver league, including running close to double guild events during the week. But it's a very guild-focussed server. There's often no PUG commander at all (doesn't bother me, I've been playing for close to a year) but the downside is WvW becomes hard to break into and we suffer for new blood and numbers.

Today is clearly my lucky day, as this dropped for me in WvW this morning :)IMAGE(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/35663/Ascended%20longbow.jpg)

Ascended drops are interesting. You get a crate corresponding to a kind of gear (Rampager in this case). When you double-click, it lets you choose the weapon you want from a list. I chose longbow, since with Prec, Power and Cond Damage it'll work with both my WvW condi build and my PvE zerker stuff. Sweet!

Then I did the Queensdale Champ Troll, which dropped the exotic mace Shiverstone. My 'luck' has been utterly different since returning to the game following a break. I've had more exotic+ drops in a month than I had in the rest of the year.

Really?!?!? Your luck has even better?
You don't say... Seriously though, think I'll try to play some next week, it's just been crazy on my end.

Word on the main boards is that Devon Carver (lead WvW dev) plans to be on NSP for season 1. Not sure what that will do... most people dont seem to expect NSP to be able to even take SM 5 times for the whole duration of the season.

I think some people were hoping he'd get a taste of the bottom of the Silver league and magically realise that stacked servers are a problem. Wishful thinking, most likely.

I've never seen an Anet dev in world but apparently they like siege play.

I've seen them in PvE... actually did one of the zephyr challenges with one. Never seen them in WvW

I've actually seen a ArenaNet staff member in WvW once to twice. They had their name in gold or something (different from the brown for guild members). Of course, I'm on on off hours, so could've been a fluke.

Alright, Eleima pushed me over the edge. downloading now.

Abandon all hope, ye who enter...

I'm struggling to not play this to the same level of OCD that burned me out last time. But there's always that one more DE/teleport/Reknown/POI/Vista. And then someone had to layer in the Champ run in Queensdale which I promise only to do one round of each night that ten turns into 6 or seven!

Contrary to all appearances, ArenaNet is not giving me a cut of their sales.
Maybe they should...

I like it so far. It has a good look to it. I have no idea what I'm doing. I also think I lost my heroic chest by deleting my first character.

I'm 31 levels in and still not completely sure what I'm doing a lot of the time. It's a really fun ride regardless.

It take a while to "really" know what you are doing. WoW was like that for me too

What's this about a heroic chest though? I have no memory of ever getting one... Is this for a deluxe edition maybe?

I haven't joined the guild. Who do I contact for that?

I think they updated the regular editions to the heroic editions. You get a set of armor and some xp boost items. I don't think it's necessary, but I felt like an idiot losing it. I contacted support to see if they can do anything about it, but if not, it's my bad.

Edit: okay, so the wiki says: "Purchase the Heroic Edition of Guild Wars 2. This item will be sent to the player via the in-game mail system in a mail titled "Special Item Delivery"."
It apparently contains boosters and a set of legacy armor. It's account bound so you can probably get another y creating another "dummy" character and giving his to your first character (by dropping it in your bank). Not very elegant but it's the only thing I can think of.

That stuff is usually handled in the Guild Wars 2 Guild organization thread, but you can just post your character's name or your display name (with the numbers behind it), and an officer will handle it as soon as possible. I'll be online on Steam working most of the morning, so I can handle it in a timely fashion.
Unless you've already gone to bed, of course. In that case, someone stateside will probably do it later today.

You must've also gotten my invite to the Steam group. I find it's easier to dive in if I know someone else is already playing, so a few of us launch GW2 with Steam (by adding a non-Steam game shortcut).

Oh yikes, I've just had a thought. Hope you rolled on Northern Shiverpeaks... :/
