Guild Wars 2 Catch All

I got 100% on the Red Borderlands map tonight and got Blueprints for Ballista and Trebuchet as a reward. Are these like recipes in that if I double click on them, I'll know how to make them from now on? Or are they just good for one use of making said item?

One shot deal. Double click and you will place the frame for a siege weapon, others will need to help you to actually build it with their supply.

Yeah, I wish there was a permanent skill for knowing how to build siege, but I understand that all games need money sinks.

I try to hit up our borderland's jumping puzzle after my dailies.. that's been fueling all my siege blueprints. plus the ones you get from zone completion.

I'll admit I use them sparingly though.

I'll have to join you sometime. I've got no clue where the jumping puzzle is.

I completed Arah with 4 other GWJers today, so now only 3% of map completion found in WvW is keeping my main from being completely "done". After I get that out of the way, I think I'm spending more time with my necro and engie.

So I've been looking for a gear calculator for a while now.. and I finally just found a great one!

Ooooh, that is so neat!!! I'm saving this for when my character's older! (ie more leveled up and actually competent!)

Siege is designed to be OP and in limited supply in all siege style games. The jumpy puzzles alone make me cringe a bit.

On Fort Aspenwood, there were like 12 siege engines in a number of the battles for the keeps. It was pretty much impossible for a single player without siege to have any effect. The supply camps alone were guarded with 4-6 pieces of siege.

That's way too much siege. You can't get anything done without counter siege, mesmer portals, or zergs. I prefer less siege that does more damage and strategically placed instead of the siege zerg.

I saw Guild Wars 2 has a Mac beta client. Anyone with experience with it? How well does it work?

It works well with me. Most, but not all, problems are with the game, not the Mac.

No problem in NSP. Infact we are golden for small group play. The number of siege is not that crazy, and tends to go up when taking towers or above type targets.

I also understand the number of siege is capped for a team.

I used the Mac client over the holidays and I didn't notice any difference from the regular client.

Thanks for the quick responses. I watched a video or two of gameplay and saw a lot of similarities to World of Warcraft (which I largely expected).

What are some of the key differences? (for context I use to raid heavily in WoW but don't have that kind of time anymore)

Early on, I had crashes with it in WvW or zones with many folks (Lions Arch, for example). I have not had any problems with it in the last few months. Whatever it was, I think they fixed it.

Combat is a lot more fast-paced and twitchy. If I was to give just one piece of advice to a WOW player moving to GW2, it would be: learn to dodge! (Double-tap on any of the movement keys.) "Don't stand in the fire" takes on a whole new meaning when it isn't just for boss fights any more

Also, forget about the Holy Trinity. Any class can take on any role, pretty much, with the right choice of spec and gear.

Thanks. I might try it out. What server do the GWJ folks play on?

The guild is based on Northern Shiverpeaks.

Leah Rivera discusses new guild missions

Sounds really fun. I've enjoyed the times we've done stuff as a guild, like that day we farmed Southsun Cove.

I didn't even know there was a limit on bank tabs and bag slots.

Me likes the bounty.

The first few locations in the guild mission video looked awesome and.. new?

Hopefully they'll be set up like the Zaishen Challenge quests from GW1, and be a large pool of bounties that rotate, so they don't get stale.
What I'd really like to see is some sort of update on where they are with adding Guild Halls.

Hmm, reading between the lines it looks like the Guild Challenge missions might allow people to partake in the One time events they missed before. I'm only guessing at this because of the inclusion of the karka in that video.

I would be extremely surprised.... Or if it were I wouldnt expect the one-time rewards to come into it.

Looks like bank tabs and bag slots are going on sale.

I might pick up a few. I haven't upgraded at all, and it's really starting to get crowded in there...

I've started playing the game. I'll try and reach out to someone about joining the guild. (Rahmen X in game)

Awesome, welcome to the game!! Be sure to check this thread out on the guild ingame (we're on the Northern Shiverpeaks server, also!!). Be sure to give an officer your name (in the format username.XXXX, where X are numbers) so you can be easier to pinpoint. And don't hesitate to say in the guild chat, we don't bite! Most of the time.

Already taken care of.

I saw this on reddit

Southsun Cove Guild Missions

They’re spread throughout the game. We did add a bunch to Southsun Cove, though. Lot’s of underused space.

I knooooow, I was slow as molasses this morning!

Anyhow, I made my first foray in WvW today! I even 100%'d the Northern Shiverpeaks area, and got a bunch of blueprints for my trouble. I stumbled across one extremely helpful soul (gosh, I love GW2 for that), but I think it'd be more fun with you guys rather than on my lonesome...
And in other news... Only 26 levels to go.

I don't get it, what's wrong with the personal story?? (genuinely confused)
