Not in the beta, but I really need to know what if anything this game will have besides clan-match battles. If it's got group (and ideally some solo) PvE content, I'm all in. Co-op would be awesome, and much more my style. But so far I haven't seen anything that tells me what this game will have besides PvP content. And given the successful F2P equivalents (LoL and its ilk), I imagine that PvP is all it'll have.

Best comparison from what they're showing is World of Tanks. But with Battlemechs. So XvX arena style team-based combat.

They're also suppose to be adding a metagame campaign with the IS houses and player controlled merc corps. So the various houses might have some bonus associated with them if you're a member or allied merc.

With no long-term strategic resources or territory to fight over, or persistent anything, I'm kind of 'meh' on the whole thing. I miss my MUXes.

One of these two threads should be closed to keep all the stuff in the same place.

Please!

The good part is it being F2P, there's no reason I won't try it. But if there was some co-op and some single player content, I'd probably have given them $60 already. That's how excited I am for the possibility of a good mech game.

Unfortunately, mwomercs.com is down today. But do they have any plans for adding single player or coop content in the future? Maybe it's just easier to code for PvP since you don't have to worry about things like AI or story.

I would love some kind of last stand mode where you team up with a small group of friends against endless waves of enemy mechs, tanks and infantry.

Happy Founders Day - today the game goes live for early adopters and begins the access to Founder benefits. Love me some mech action - I am SpyNavy so friend me up if you are playing.

Is the NDA dropped then?

Commence with the info and discussion...

No, the NDA still has not been dropped. So no streaming, no video, no screenshots, no discussion, no talking about it, yadda yadda blah blah blah.

They'll take your money, but they won't take any of your talkin' out of school.

If I were hypothetically playing then I would hypothetically say its a load of fun.

They've said that they'll lift the NDA for Open Beta.

I have another beta key, if anyone is interested. PM me, first come, first served.

I'm not super versed in the MechWarrior universe, but I'm really hoping for another Chromehounds-like game, with more complexity.

*crosses fingers*

Not sure what is really different about the Founder's Mechs...aside from the XP/Cash bonuses you get.

To my knowledge, that's the only real difference. That said, in WoT having a gold tank that you've bought out of the cash shoop is a huge boon in later tiers, as the amount of income/xp they generate is more than a normal tank that you buy with the currency that you earn. I'd assume they're going for a similar thing here.

I really hope this game has less of a grind than WoT. I've been trying to level past my A20 for over a month and I hate it.

Oh and if anyone has an orphaned beta key in need of a loving home I'd be glad to take it in.

ditto on that last point. really curious about how much i'll enjoy this. and whether it's worth jumping on the founder's packs

My extra key is gone. The Founders mechs are fantastic and the cash, xp bennies are very useful. The other nice thing is that they take no slots from your mech bay. The only grind so to speak is for xp which lets you have a minor perk in a certain mech. Makes logical sense, the more you drive it the better you are in that chassis. I'd recommend a founder mech just for the ability to make extra cash from a match giving you more ducats to buy new mechs or parts. Not sure how they plan on implementing repair, but I can see that being a massive cash drain. Otherwise cash builds up rapidly.

Oh... Hypothetically speaking.

I don't remember if you played it, but what I really, really liked about Chromehounds is that you could pretty much build your own mech. Not just "customize" it.

Anything close to that here?

... and... Is everyone grabbing the Atlas as their founder-mech? (assuming the mid-range package, not the ridiculous $120 one)

Almost. Battletech has weight classes, and within those classes you will get several different chassis. And each Chassis will have different variants that have more armor / speed / default equipment / weapons / heat sinks / etc. You can't change anything about the base chassis or variant, think of it like a paper doll. What you "clothe" it with can be entirely different. So its about 50% of what Chromehounds had.

Jenner here. I like being an annoying scout.

I'd say it's closer to 75% The main difference is you're limited on hard point types depending on teh variant you're using. You strip down till your tonnage down to almost 0 and build from the ground up

Catapult for me.

Anyone going to be on Vent tonight? I sure could use some pointers.

I did get an Atlas, though I'm wishing I could've gotten a Hunchback instead. I like the ballistic hardpoints better.

Does this have HOTAS/Track IR support?

I wonder if TrackIR will be replaced by Oculus Rift in a couple of years? I kind of hope so.

Same here.

Joystick support yes, Track IR I don't believe so.
