This seems awesome. I would love to be a part of a successful FtP model Mechwarrior game.

Are we in some sort of Mechwarrior revival era? This is the third mech game I've heard about coming soon. The three games being this one, Mechwarrior: Living Legends, and the turn based hex battle game.

Don't forget Hawken.

Have you run any of the MW games on your flight setup LM?

Nope, I don't have any anymore. I'm definitely looking forward to MWO though. Has there been any mention of supporting TrackIR?

[Edit] Excellent! TrackIR support is confirmed in the PCGamer preview.

This is a fanmade mod. There is A LOT to live up to.

I might be in the beta as Certis.

I might be sending you Steam messages. I really want to see how this game plays when people actually stick together and you know, do teamwork stuff.

While you're possibly sending him messages, there's an outside shot that hitting me up may be worthwhile. Couldn't say for sure though.

I may be trying to make something bad happen to you three with the power of my mind.

When I had to mow the lawn as a kid, I used to try to blow up passing cars with psychic energy to pass the time.

Only worked once.

The PA Report has a couple pictures of the ludicrously insane custom controller for Hawken and a gorgeous video:

This is not enough room in my life for all of these mech games and their controllers.

God I hate you both. I've been playing MW4 just to curb the withdrawals.

Preach it, brother. The one beta I'd love to get in, sigh.

Same here... I haven't felt like this for a beta in a long, long, long time.

We should consider: shall we faction together or Merc together? Either way, I know me, and Legion knows me, and no matter what I say, this ends in me running a group. I will probably be forsaking all other games to do it, too. (Though I'll be sure to go out in a blaze of glory in Day Z.)

God, Battletech, I have missed the ever loving dickens out of you.

Truth.

I don't really care what faction, so I'm easy.

I'll vote for House Steiner.

I have no meaningful opinion. And adding my rage to the mental assault for those of you who may potentially have a hookup.

Is there any documentation on what the factions / merc corps will get a player?
is it just their guild system?

Everyone can play in a faction or start their own Merc corps.

Mercs can fight for factions and take over territory on the faction's behalf -- at the expense of "loyalty" to the faction you're attacking. So, over time, you may only be able to take contracts from certain groups.

I do, however, have a feeling that the Clans will be showing up in this game. Which is ultimately where I'd want to go, so I'm thinking Merc corps.

As far as strategy, I'm not seeing anything yet on the faction side, which makes me sad. =( But maybe they'll see the light after launch and start letting higher-ranked players actually be able to launch an assault on their own. There's over 2,000 planets on the damn BT map, I seriously doubt there's any worry that a faction is going to get wiped out, and if they do, it'll come at a heavy cost.

It would be weird to have clanners hiring mercs, though. Seems like you'd have the players on the inner sphere side of the Clan Wars.

Dunno, I'm too sneaky and subtle for the vatborns, anyway.

I seem to recall (from many, many years ago) that some merc groups were actually clanners scouting out the situation well ahead of the clan showing up. Could be wrong.

That was Wolf's Dragoons.

But MWO doesn't specify particular merc companies yet, does it?

Another wave of 500 invites went, and the yellow beta status: Pending graphic continues to mock my pain, my suffering.

Made me turn to Duncan Fisher for solace. Deliberately avoiding all the standard loadouts I loved in the past, and trying new loadouts and mechs, it should tide me over for another week or so.

My Merc Unit name suggestion: Gamers With Contracts.

Please Upvote.

Someone PM me if they're thinking about grouping maybe.

Gee. I'd love to group. 'Cept I can't play the game, cause my beta request was DENIED.

But count me in for mechly shenanigans.

Really denied or still just pending? Did they give a reason?

Denied in the sense that I'm not included in the current round of invites. But I suppose it's good, because I have a lot of projects I need to wrap on before I get absorbed by a game.

Like purchasing and building the ultimate mech simulation gaming pod?

You've mistaken me for Julian.

(I should totally spec that out...)
