MechWarrior: Online - Catch all

You haven't gotten the achievement for filling out the beta survey with only one functional leg left.

It's bugged. The questions will show up that "aren't finished" Pick something different than you were a few times and you'll eventually get to 100%. That worked for me, at any rate.

Damn, I wish I could talk about this beta right now...

If you happened to get into it, drop me a line on Steam so we can try getting in a game together.

Having to reupload my data was annoying, but at least now I'm 100% done with the beta app. So, is there going to be joystick support for this? I don't know that I've heard anything about that.

Have they made any announcement as to how these "premium" accounts work? In Tribes:Ascend, as soon as you make a purchase with gold points (which you buy with real cash) you get "VIP" status with a permanent XP buff. This looks like its structured to be a subscription service...?

It'll probably work the way it does for World of Tanks.

Which is how? I haven't played that (yet).

Subscription based, you buy a month of premium and get bonus experience and cash rewards for the matches. When it expires you go back to the free level of match rewards unless you buy another month of premium. The boosts are structured such that you can do without them, but its a major grind if you try.

Ah so it does sound a little like the Tribes: Ascend boosts.

I just hope they don't nickel and dime you with repairing mechs.

Or what if they sell ammo...

You know eventually some F2P is going to do it (if they already haven't).

Now featuring Spray 'n Pay™!

Fine by me, I prefer Laser weapons anyways.

I wouldnt doubt that they are looking how successful Tribes is. I'm sure they will replicate a lot of things. Paying for repairs seems excessive.

That would be World of Tanks, again. You pay for regular ammo out of cash earned through fighting, or with gold purchased with real money. The regular ammo get expensive starting around Tier 5 (out of 10). Then there is special Premium Ammo, which isn't enough better to require that you buy it to be competitive, at least.

That would be World of Tanks, again. You pay for repairs and resupply of expendables (like a fire extinguisher) out of cash earned through fighting, or with gold purchased with real money. Between the ammo, repairs and expendables, it gets expensive, enough so that some of the higher tier tanks can't support themselves without help (real cash or playing a lower tier tank to earn enough money to finance the use of the higher tier tanks).

To be honest, the grind for ingame cash isn't the core problem with World of Tanks, their matchmaking is. So as long as MWO has a better MM system, they could use the same sort of cash/repairs/resupply system and it would work.

I might be in the beta as Certis.

QFT.

Spoiler:

Until I get into the Beta, in which case people who didn't are chumps.

Finally back to a computer with time to complete the beta registration. I hope the information warfare and tactical options are as good as they sound. That was always missing from previous arena-based multiplayer combat modes.

I'm not ashamed to say that the Artemis rig gave me a huge nerd boner. I wonder what the price point for something like that would be.

Video that doesn't show much:

If I had anything at all to base this opinion on, and I don't, I'd say that Razer showed more than they should have in their concept and video. So since my opinion is entirely unfounded and is pure speculation, please ignore this statement.

I might be sending you Steam messages. I really want to see how this game plays when people actually stick together and you know, do teamwork stuff.

Man, how awesome would it be to have a Raven be able through out some ECM to mask coordinated attacks?

This seems awesome. I would love to be a part of a successful FtP model Mechwarrior game.

Are we in some sort of Mechwarrior revival era? This is the third mech game I've heard about coming soon. The three games being this one, Mechwarrior: Living Legends, and the turn based hex battle game.

Mechwarrior Living Legends is probably part of what paved the way for the revival.
The mod is years old, but is one of the only successful mods I've seen. It's a full converstion for Crysis 2.
I would speculate that the interest level that it demonstrated would have at least been mentioned in the pitches for MWO, and MWTactics.
MW Tactics is in Friends and Family. I'm still waiting for a beta invite.

Neither am I... but I do have to say after buying the Steal Battalion setup, I am skeptical about quality.

One thing that controller suggest is really cool: the ability to break the display up over multiple screens.

That would open up a lot of custom controller and monitor setup possibilities.
Someone's going to be building a custom cabinet for this.
