Problems with Flash Update 11.4.x.x

Normally updating Flash for me is quick and painless. I get a notification when I boot up, hit a button called "install". A progress bar smoothly moves from 0-100% and done. But today the button directed me to an Adobe webpage that doesn't exist.

I was a little confused by this so I did some digging on the web. Seems like this version has issues. People with Chrome can't run it properly and it installs unwanted 3rd party software like Google Toolbar. Mac users can't use it at all because the plugin is outright blocked.

What gives?

Doesn't chrome run it's own internal version of flash, unless you've changed the config? As for bundling, adobe have been doing that for a while as an opt-out when you go to get the installer.

For what it's worth, I updated a few days ago and it's okay for me.

Hmm strange. I actually use Firefox. My flash updating experience has literally been having a window pop up when I start the computer. Hitting one button and it's done in less than 10 seconds. Until now, that is.

I had none of these problems on my work XP Pro laptop. The option to not install Google Toolbar was a bit subtle, but it was there. Yeah, one data point is not a trend. Like Tamren, I was expecting a click and go. This new was quite different.

I haven't tried my home Win 7 yet
