Firefall Catch-All

I'll try to be around tomorrow night.

Traveling for the holidays, followed by crunch mode at work, has left me next to no time for gaming the past several weeks.

I miss Firefall and would love to join up with folks and kill things soon. :)

Same here. I've been really busy lately. All I've done is set up crafting jobs. And discover that the changed recipes mean I don't have enough of the rare parts to make my Melding Field Whatever It's Called Now.

I'll be up for some Firefall tonight.

Gameplay Changes

New "Mouth" category for New You allowing for gas masks and other items that are not full-face.
Warpaint patterns are now available even without a custom warpaint.
You will now be alerted to what award you've unlocked when completing an achievement.
Chosen should fire more often with higher accuracy.
Hellclaw health increased to 1450 up from 1250.
Thumping near the melding should be slightly easier than before.
More resource veins should appear in the available world as opposed to behind the melding curtain or under unthumpable rocks.
Adjusted the costs on the Encapsulated Super-Melded Cell (less expensive) and the Empty Melding Anomaly Neutralizer (more expensive)
Changed Crystalline and Polymer resource categories to "Ionic" and "Covalent" respectively.
Blackwater and Orbital Comm Tower give out 2x the resources for both winning and losing.
Blackwater Harvester will now properly give out basalt.
Re-enabled basalt blending in manufacturing station.
Players will no longer be kicked for being AFK if they are queued for PvP in open world.
Secondary weapons once again have limited ammo.

Bug Fixes

Fixed an issue where Orbital Comm Tower matches would not be saved or would be saved incorrectly (Loss instead of a Win or vice versa)
Fixed issues where a team would get over backfilled (6v5 on TDM).
Player skill rating scaling will no longer start from scratch when requeuing after a failed match launch.
Fixed a memory leak on matchmaking servers.
Players should no longer go invisible after respawning
Terrain should no longer appear invisible after respawning.
Multiple performance optimizations.
Weird things that Lutz did that I can't comprehend because he uses code in his comments, but I'm sure are awesome changes.
Fixes for the garage erroring out due to "missing items".
Fixed bug that showed self heals displaying twice in 3rd person.
Fixed some client-side crashes.
Fixed an issue with squad challenges that would prevent the match from starting.
Fixed an issue where Baneclaw health scaling could give the Baneclaw way more health than was intended.
Fixed issues on Orbital Comm Tower that would not identify the correct winner.
Fixed the lower forcefields on the Orbital Comm Tower attacker spawn so that you can not leave the spawn until the match begins.
Fixed infinite glider exploit. Sorry.

A couple of things.

Man I love this surveyor add-on that keeps track of your resource scans. Who wants to group up for some sweet thumping?

Secondly, can you add me as an admin to the group so I can post announcements. Thanks.

This week is horrible for my free time, but if I manage to shake free one evening I'd love to squad up. Enjoyed our recent run with deftly, and had an extremely inebriated run with Granite the other night.

Added you as an admin, and made a couple other changes for the Steam group. If you're in the group and don't have permissions you want, please let me know.

There are a few large totally cool vehicles in Thump Dump – can we see some of those soon or are they just eye candy?

-Those vehicles are kind of teasers that we have big vehicles, but our art style has changed quite a lot and our larger vehicles will not look like that. We do have plans for medium and heavy-sized vehicles. Some of them have made it past the concept stage and into the modeling stage sooner than expected, so you may see them sooner than you may think. Definitely keep your eye out for heavier vehicles as well as flying vehicles.

OOoo, flying vehicles, sounds like fun.

So what day would be the ideal get-together day to play as a group? Would the answer be more suited to appear in the Firefall spreadsheet than right here in the forum?
Personally, I'm most able to play tuesdays or thursdays.

Managed to steal a little time last evening and squadded up with Psych for a bit. Current thoughts:

* The levels of indirection for the Melding Destabilizer? Not a fan. Way too fiddly for my taste, and makes me glad I already have one ready to go.
* Chosen activity was moderate. It no longer feels like Yakety Sax is playing when you're recapturing towers, only to have Chosen retake them as soon as the timer runs down.
* Not sure if thumper spawns are keyed to the number of friendlies nearby, but I dropped an advanced near Copa, with a half-dozen or so pubbies helping out, and we still got torn up (think thumper got sent up at 91% full or so, but with a half-dozen active Rageclaws knocking around). Might be a little grief-prone if it's too heavily weighted towards proximity, but gave me fond memories of the "Rageclaw Parade" patch.

We also went exploring and found something new - an abandoned house, partially inside the melding. Hero Squad, form up for album cover shot!

I also like the idea of a standing Firefall night - right now it's hard for me to commit ahead of time, but Thursdays would be slightly better for me.

A standing FF night would probably be the thing it takes for me to get into this. Random night after work, my mouse is magnetically drawn to TF2. Thursdays sound great.

I wouldn't be able to make it every thursday, but it is as good as any day for me!

Deciding on an actual shceduled night would kick me in the pants enough to jump in for a bit. Otherwise I've been forcing myself away until a lot more develops in game.

Thursday would work for me. Actually just about any night would work for me.

Thursday night it is then.

Sounds good to me, who's gonna update the first post with this info?

It was good to play again. The manufacturing for that melding field thing is insane. Am I looking at it wrong, or does it take tons of quartzite across a bunch of processes to build?

Also, I think vent was stuck in transmit mode for me.

Dimmerswitch has lured me into the warm, deadly embrace of FireFall. I'd be up for a FF night, but like most of us, I can't wholly commit to a given night. I'm good for most evenings after 8pm CST.

Fun run last night - good to meet up with Granite, WizKid and Tomaytohead for a bit of advanced thumping. Special thanks to WizKid for saving the thumper I was certain was lost, with a fortuitous return from afk.

I an ping cyrax to add it if we want, but this ties in to a question I'd asked a while back - what's the consensus on whether we need a new catch-all thread yet, and also do folks think that the Games or MMO forums would be the best home for it when that time comes?

Welcome to Hero Squad, son - I think you'll fit it just fine.

Games and Platforms. I would have never seen this game if this thread were in the MMO forums. Plus it's MMORPG forums, and this ain't no stinkin' RPG, son!

MMOTPS Forum time!

Speak for yourself - I'm role-playing a bald man who's pathologically afraid of losing his jawbones.

What am I, some kind of ham-fisted peasant? First-person all the way!

Spoiler:

Actually, third-person is surprisingly playable in this game, and I definitely prefer that mode when running an assault frame.

[Edit to add: Open Beta this weekend. Work duties probably mean I'll not be around much, but if I scare up some time I'll probably be on and boy-scouting for some of the new players. Feel free to give a shout if you see me - happy to group up.]

I never could get this to run ages ago, so I'm downloading it again to give it another try. When I logged into my account I noticed I have 5 invites. Does anyone need one?

Propagandalf wrote:

*Raises hand.

Ooh! Ooh! Me! Pick me!

I'd love an invite if you still have an extra.

I'd love an invite too, if anyone has one left. I thought with the open beta weekend everybody who signed up would get in, but guess I was wrong. I'm really tempted to drop some money on a founder's key, but want to at least play a little before doing so.

Beta keys sent to those who asked for one.

I would guess most folks who have been playing and are in the spreadsheet have invites to give. Please feel free to PM us if you want one or two

I also have more invites if people need.

Looks like the founder exclusive thumper skin unlocked this weekend.

EDIT:
Played a little bit this evening, man the Chosen encounters were cranked way up. Defeated four incursions in probably 30-45mins. Although I think the difficulty may have been scaled down, many of the encounters were done in 4 person groups where I was the only T2 frame (Dragonfly lucky for them ;)).
Also finally made it to the point this evening that if Red 5 does decide on T3 frames, I can get any one of the 3 proposed Biotech frames.
EDIT2: To Everyone: Please make sure you update the GWJ Firefall spreadsheet (Also in the main post) with things like, character name, best day/time to play (Thursdays, I guess?), preferred class, and number of remaining invites.
For those interested in getting in on the action (It really is a lot of fun, even if, it has a terrible tutorial phase at the moment) either shoot one of the names in the spreadsheet a PM request or post your name on the spreadsheet and we will contact you about a key.

So, yeah... What's this I hear about opening a new Firefall thread?

So evidently R5 purposefully overpriced some items in the cash shop (200 bean helmet, anyone?) and they sold way more than expected of said item. So, who here bought one, so I can beat you senseless? Or maybe drop your from a thumper squad just before sending it up....

Still, they've also said they are introducing similar items at varying prices to figure out what works best. I hope not too many people keep tossing money at them uncontrollably.

I would like an invite if that's ok?

Where do you go to see if you have invites to give?
