Firefall Catch-All

Anyone know what the Arcfold Tower Reactor calldown does, or is supposed to do? Found a locker near Copacabana that dispenses them.

They let you power one of those towers and turn it into a respawn point with a battleframe selector, etc. Most of them aren't enabled, however, and the few that are almost always already have a reactor set up.

Exactly. Look for a round pad right outside the tower, and try dropping it on or near the pad - rather like calling down a thumper. Finicky at best, and most of the towers you can't get it to accept the calldown. Critters like to eat the reactors, so just wander by, drop another, and then you can use the facilities - such as the gliderpads up top.

Gave my extra key out. I'll post here if I get more.

Found an excellent meld thump location, anyone interested in forming a party tonight at 7pm PST? (Of course ore will vary)
EDIT: Alas, I had to work late and could not get on :(. Sorry to anyone I stood up.

Finally got my tier 2 assault frame and man, why do you start out with a terrible reduction in power? I deal less damage than the starting tier 1!

Had a good time showing Koshnika that there was more to the world than the beaches of Copa. That also meant I played way more than I inteded to last night.

EDIT:
So, they're going to be selling founders packages coming this Friday, August 31st, (and presumably only this Friday) The question is, what happens to those not yet in the beta, but signed up? Do they just not get a chance to get in on the deal? Or, can they buy their way in ala Mechwarrior Online? Or is the game going to just go completely open?

I can only imagine it will be one of the later 2 options. Anyways, I suggest people keep their eyes open later this week. The founders packages will give the same amount of in game currency as buying some now plus permanent XP boosts, and some items. I think it would be pretty crappy (and dumb) of them to not allow anyone who wants in to give them their money.

Thanks for the fun last night Mr. T Tackling the tornado was a lot of fun. Hopefully I'll get my T2 Engy in the next day or so and I'll try my hand at crafting.

Are the Founder's packages listed anywhere?

I'll post one final time that I still have 5 invites, 6 if my brother doesn't want one. I'm not sure what's going on but you'd think I had been using these to scrape dog poop off my shoes or something.

Liquid, mind if I add your # of invites to the google doc?

Kosh - The only thing I've seen on the founders packages is listed at the bottom of the window when you go to purchase in game currency. They've got 3 levels coming. A $10 (maybe something else, can't remember) $50, and $100 package.

Fine with me. I'd rather they get used than just collect dust.

Founders pack video (discussion thread) This weekend (or possibly just Friday) only, the packs are 25% off.

Interesting. I'm assuming the red beans is how you purchase stuff?

Yup. Current(ly overpriced) items include an extra battleframe spot, cosmetic stuff, useless pets and fireworks, and a few other things I'm forgetting.

Answers to questions...

Can I get the discount without going to PAX?

Absolutely! The discount applies for everyone during the entire PAX weekend, Friday through Sunday. After that, prices will return to normal.

Can I only get a bike by buying Commander pack?

Nope. The bike in the Commander pack is a custom chopper-style bike instead of the default bike in the game. It's unique, just like you.

Extra masks for my friends, what's that about?

At the Lieutenant and Commander level, you receive a custom mask and then you receive extra Ensign masks for your friends. You'll still look like the bad ass of the group, but we wanted you to have something that you can share with other people.

How do I reserve my name/Army name?

The websites for these will be online soon and will go with the redemption of the founders pack. Your Army name will only be "confirmed" once you have 5 total people in your Army. So get your friends ready to go. More details on the specific pages later this week.

How long will Founders packs be available?

Founders packs are just that, for founders. They will only be available for a limited time. Time is still to be determined, but buy early if you're worried (especially with that 25% discount).

Can I use Red Beans to buy a founders pack?

No. Founders packs are separate from Red Beans and come with huge discounts on Red Beans, thus you must purchase them with credit card or Paypal.

When will I receive stuff?

Virtual items should be available Sept 24th in game. For physical goods, allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.

What do I get for buying at PAX vs online?

An awesome physical card showing that you are a founder and the Merch pet, along with all the great stuff in the packages.

I've already unlocked the Merch via the Crystite Challenge. When do I get that?

Sept 24th along with everyone else. No purchase necessary.

Not sure how I missed this, but I'd love an invite if you have any left.

Sure, just PM me your email.

I can probably get us the Stanley's Strikers army perma-name as I intend to get either the Commander or the Lieutenant pack at PAX for the great permanent squad xp boosts. Also kinda want the straw hat for my recon frame...

They just released founders pricing and info.

I saw it on Massively.

I like that they aren't beating around the bush with temporary xp boost potions. The different levels of founders offer a %5, %10, and %15 permanent xp boost for each tier.

They do seem pretty generous too where the highest tier is $80 I believe and it comes with a hoodie and $120 worth of in game currency.

Not quite a hoodie, I'm afraid, just a beanie.

A beanie is actually more tempting for my shaved headed self. Hoodies I'm particular about as I want full-zips that don't bunch up. Not that I've decided to buy in for sure at all anyway though.

Noob Question: I see two battle frame options at the end of Tier 1. Are they just cosmetically different or are there actual gameplay implications?

That's a good question. I chose the purple version because I liked the purple. I could not see a mechanical difference.

They have differing abilities. For recon, it is the difference between an exploding execution shot or a SIN Scramble effect. All that information is hinted at on per frame on each tier (sans the unrevealed frames yet) in the little italicized story/description when selected.

EDIT: Is there anyway to get the Steam overlay running since the milestone? I've had no luck.

EDIT 2: @Cyrax Looks like the [GWJ] Stanley's Strikers army thread link in the title post is broken...

Open the frames tech tree (hit T), see the frames listed at the very top of the screen? Choose the frame, choose the Tier 2 variant, then look over the techtree options. That will let you see what the frame is capable of. You'll have to manually compare them, there isn't a list showing the differences, would be a nice addition.

Not that I know of. There's a small thread about it on the game forum but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere except some mentioned a lot of programs / all software macros no longer work. I believe Dimmerswitch was saying his still worked.

Honestly, I don't see why they have to block it as more people seeing that I'm playing the game can only be good exposure for them.

Grr. Twice so far I've tried to install the beta and after downloading umpty-ump gigs (which takes quite a while on my connection), it decides the download is corrupt. :X

I haven't even had a chance to install this sucker and apparently I already have a Beta Invite to give away... sounds like there might be quite a few floating around, but PM me if you're interested.

Never mind.

Founders pack purchasing is live. Also, the official faq.

I'll likely just get the middle pack. The LGV is a unique version of something we can buy / craft later and we don't even get the items for a month. Not a big deal for me. XP boosts and red beans are immediate, though.

Dang, you're quick. You got me before the edit. Anyways, yeah, I'm really put off on the PVP side of things since the patch. I can barely even muster the effort to think about joining PVP. Especially since my framerates seem to have dropped a bit.

The bad thing is, I'm great at controlling the assault frame in the open world and all but everyone now moves to fast for that frame to be effective in PVP. Either that or I'm just terrible now.

I tried PVP for the first time a couple days ago and ran into a bunch of developers on the other team. Things did not go well for me

Picked up the Ensign pack and reserved BNICE.

I'm motivated by procrastination.
