Didn't you bail last year?

Edit: To be clear, I believe it was on GWJFFLK, not whatever "standard" league you're in.

I bailed on the auction draft. Now dynasty regular draft, I can get behind. Also, I need to replace my work league which sucked.

You're assuming a dynasty league won't have an auction draft? I thought they went hand in hand.

Of the options proposed earlier $22 sounded better than $33 to me, but really I am fine either way.

Not necessarily. One draw about a draft-based dynasty league is trading of draft picks, provided the software running the league permits it. (I have no idea if this is the case with Fleaflicker).

Oh, that's a good point I hadn't considered.

Btw, Grumps, if I'm in the Dynasty league (and frankly money isn't an issue, though I prefer a lower number to start), I'd like to drop my GWJFFL2 and keep my Keeper team (Champion that I am).

Not to make this completely confusing, but if I get relegated to GWJFFL1 then I'd like to stay in all the leagues.

Otherwise I'm fine letting someone else in. I'm also open to keeping all my GWJ teams and cutting my non-GWJ team.

To sum up, I'm completely flexible. I'm more interested in a dynasty league than GWJ2 (or the Keeper league, in that order). I want to stay in the Keeper league, but if I'm in the dynasty league I'm open to whatever you want or need to do. My main interest is in a dynasty league. When I joined the keeper league, I think I came in with a dynasty league mindset.

Promotion/relegation only occurs amongst the "number" leagues. K and D exist on their own, individually.

yeah, i know, and I'm in GWJFFL2. I don't think I did well enough to make it to #1, but I was saying it in case it happened.

Im sold, at any reasonable price level.

Oh, you mean promoted. That's what threw me. I assumed "relegated to GWJFFL1" meant you thought you might get booted from GWJFFLK. Promotion goes up, relegation goes down.

Well I'd say we have enough interest. I guess I'll have to figure out an admission process. I'm also going to limit folks to 3 GWJFFL leagues, though I doubt that will be a problem for anyone.

Yes, sorry, promotion.

What I'm getting at is that if you accept me to the dynasty league and I'm not promoted to GWJFFL1 then I'd be willing to drop my GWJFL2 team in order to focus on the Keeper and Dynasty leagues. I'm trying to be flexible. I'll still do GWJFL2 if I'm in all three. Just trying to give people more slots.

I'm talking about months from now. Right now I'm very interested in the dynasty league. Anything else we can deal with later.

I'd be interested. Also, not sure why anyone would have an issue with winning a prize in something that is competitive... I'd prefer just straight money prize, but physical objects would be fine too. The refund thing seems rather dull.

My thoughts:

I prefer regular drafts
Prizes include a favorite team "gift basket" (custom jersey, hat, t-shirt, etc.)
Price level should be around $20-$30 ($22-$33)

The dynasty league I'm in is done with a regular draft and a 3 round draft for the following years. This is to rotate the amount of rookies and retired players coming into or leaving the NFL. You keep anyone you want and at the point of the draft you still draft the players. Before the season starts you must release 3 players of your choice to balance your team. This way you get a starting line every year. The draft is to pick up any player not just rookies and is the only time to pick up any player prior to the start of the season. Other than that it is pretty much a regular league from that point.

My only concern is adding yet another league.

Some people may have issues with gambling (moral, religious, spousal, or psychological i.e. addiction). I don't care either way, but the end of year refunds is a nice solution in the event someone is uncomfortable with gambling.

Edit: I do like the idea of the loser getting an anti-prize.

Still down for a league in whatever format. Money is not an issue.

Every other player in the league should send the loser an item they no longer want. Broken bottle opener, one of grandma's horrible knitted slippers or a sock whose twin has been stolen by the house, a fork with 3 tines...

I suppose we could just ship around the Jamarcus jersey or some equivalent.

To be fair, did you SEE that team? Only an idiot would have tried to take that team and win with it.........

I'm very interested in a dynasty league (with fees and/or prizes). Amount is immaterial.

Rebooting the thread instead of creating a new one so that we still have the discussion from this spring as a reference. If you haven't read the page and a half of posts previous to this one, please do so, it will be assumed that you did.

--------------------

First things first...

This is not the GWJFFL signup thread. That's still a couple weeks away.

This is not the 2012 general fantasy football thread. That's over here.

This is the thread where you give me your ideas and feedback about the GWJFFL with enough time that I can maybe do something about it.

--------------------

RFP: For those of you who might not be familiar with the GWJFFL, here's the official description and rules. Currently, the GWJFFL is composed of 3 "standard" leagues and a keeper league. I'm willing to manage a fifth league if there is sufficient interest. The question is, what format?

I had lunch with Boogle and *Legion* and we brainstormed some ideas but came to no conclusions. The only options worth mentioning here, though, are:

  • A dynasty league - Like the keeper league except with larger rosters and perhaps less punitive keeper rules.
  • IDP - Points for individual defensive players.
  • A premium/money league - Like the standard leagues, except with a buy-in and payouts.

Additionally, Boogle mentioned that he had been accepted to NarFFL, the official fantasy football league of Reddit, and liked the feature that they accepted donations to be used to provide non-monetary prizes for various acheivements. While I haven't decided that we're going to do this (though *Legion* really wants a trophy), I figured it might be fun/interesting to discuss options if we did.

So in summary:

  • If we were to create a league in a third format, what would it be? (The ideas above are just what we came up with; the table is wide open.)
  • If we were to accept donations and hand out prizes, what would they be?

Remember, this is not the sign-up thread. Look for that one to show up at the end of the month.

Why not go balls to the wall and do a dynasty IDP league?

Or turn our keeper league into a dynasty (sounds like that's be easy ... not) and start an IDP league.

I've always thought FFL1 would be better if it had like a $10-20 buy-in and some nominal prize for the winner at the end, and a fun 'prize' for the worst player. So I guess my vote is if you do choose to do a 5th league (yikes!) make it for pay with trophy/prizes, in whatever format it ends up being. Or take a vote and convert FFL1 to pay.

I think 20 dollar buyin is JUST the right level where I care, but don't care TOOOOO much.

IDP would be an exciting new wrinkle that I would really like to try. Buy-in and Dynasty I'm also for, just that if I had to pick one of the three choices it would be IDP.

Bass trophy.

Spoiler:

I worked at Walmart in high school and at one point we had an entire f*cking wall of those goddamn things. It was terrifying.

If sad coffee grinders are allowed into a GWJ FFL league I'd be more than happy to join. Dynasty, regular, whatever. I've gone from 3-4 FFL leagues to 1. I'll keep up with the thread as we get closer.

I have no idea what I'm doing since I've never done FF before but I'd be interested this year.

Registration will open on Sunday.

Tagging so I don't miss registration.

No interest in money stuff here. Just good ol' FFL3 and another shot at promotion.
