Ravenwood Castle - A GWJ Friendly Travel Destination

I did not need to know about that Dr. Who bag, mudbunny. At least, my budget didn't need to know about it.

Hehe. My custom bag ended up, after I bought everything, costing about $80.

I vote for dice towers if you can find them at a reasonable price. Even if they are not free they should be in the gift shop.

Souvenir wooden sword and shield with the badass Ravenwood crest on it?

Late on this, but congrats on the new gig/digs mono! I didn't make the connection until I saw your location update.

Well, good news - bad news on the Murder Mystery event that we'd briefly discussed a few pages (or threads?) back.

Good news - the first one is scheduled. Death in Small Doses, November 2-3rd (week after PenCon).

Bad news - the first one is booked solid. Well actually I have a single room left, but don't expect that to last.

So we're going to put more of these on. I'm pushing for the zombie theme one we mentioned before. I'm hoping to set one for January/February, and then another for March/April.

Two questions. First, are those of you who said you were interested in doing one of these still interested? Second, would you generally be available during those months (obviously without specific dates this is just spitballing).

Judging by the first one, these things fill up faster than I'd expected. If enough Goodjers are interested, I'd be willing to put advance notice here and give Goodjerdom the first crack at the next one, particularly if it is zombie themed...

My wife and I would be interested, but given the distance, logistics might be problematic. So we would be definite maybes.

EDIT: We've gone ahead and scheduled the next two events, so I added some more specificity to the dates above. I have the actual dates, but am not ready to publicly announce yet. If you are seriously interested in coming to one of these, and believe you are able to based on the general date ranges above, PM me and I'll make sure you get first crack before the announcement is made. If enough Goodjers are able to do it we could even have a Goodjer only zombie event, which would be cooler than cool.

Well my life is in boxes ready to load in a truck come Monday. To say the least I am a bit excited!

Best FTFY I have ever read. +1 I would read again.

Nice, thanks for fixing that, I knew I had done it wrong

So I'm announcing the next Murder Mystery event today. I'm not sure exactly what the theme will be yet, we still need to set that up with the author, but it will be January 25th and 26th.

If you are interested in attending, you'll want to get a reservation in soon as I expect this one to fill up as quickly as the last one.

My wife and I are in the castle! Now to sleep as tomorrow we get to move our stuff in to the castle.

Awesome! So you'll be there pretty much all the time then? If so, I look forward to meeting you when my wife and I visit in October.

Grats, Mono! In the midst of my own moving day right now, so I fully sympathize.

Everything is in and I think I may have broken Teneman. Apparently 5+ large boxes of board games was too much

Yeah my wife and I will be here most all of the time. Our primary residence is in the castle. So other than our vacations we will be around. Any goodjers coming should pm me so I can plan accordingly and prepare a proper greeting.

Edit: oh and my e-mail is steve at ravenwoodcastle.com if you would rather reach me that way.

Grats on the cool relocation!
Dont forget to change

Location: Soon to be in a castle!

That's awesome. Wish the wif and I could make the next PenCon but, as I've said, we'll be in Orlando. Maybe something in the spring.

Welcome home!

Does Yellek know she's a wif?

Rumors of my demise are.... fairly accurate to be honest. But all is well, I snuggled up with a pair of bottles last night - 60 Minute by Dogfish Head and Ibuprofen by Advil - and all is right with the world again!

Now for the fun, MonoCheli and I are heading to the local game shop this afternoon, and are going to spend some time putting together the gaming packages.

Chaos in the Old World, guys. Also Twilight Imperium. And Shogun.

Just try and replicate my board game collection so I don't have to drive down with it in October.

Stephen, I leave this in your capable hands.

As capable as I played Shogun at MinPenCon?

Sadly I don't have any of those yet...

But for right now how about we replace those with Dune, Eclipse, and Waterdeep?

Well those are from my personal collection but I plan to pull those out for goodjers and friends.

Not really related but would there be 5 people interested in coming to the castle for a weekend to play TI or some other epicly long and awesome game? I would get myself refreshed on rules etc. so I could teach and play as the 6th player and We would also be within hollering distance of the pub...

The SO and I are in early talks for plans to come out Labor Day weekend. Neither one of us know Twilight Imperium, but I'm sure we'd be willing to try -- the gaming-friendly atmostphere is, quite honestly, a draw for her, too.

Nice! If it flies by the SO I look forward to it. I may have a hard time getting free on Labor Day weekend for long games like TI or Dune because it is one of the busiest weekends of the year. I most likely will be able to get a couple games in later in the evenings after everyone gets settled in and of course you will be able to play without me any time you want too. In the future if we wanted to do longer games we should shoot for a slower weekend where we would have the run of the castle. I would also say if you had a particular room in mind for Labor Day weekend you should keep an eye on the reservations as they are already starting to get reserved and I have a feeling we will be booked solid for that weekend soon enough. And of course remember to PM me with your name and dates so I can apply the goodjer discount.

Mono: what a pro!

Heheh, should probably also add "Cards Against Humanity" to the library. For late night games, of course.

Edit: That actually brings up a question...how far away is the bar from the library? I know I like to drink beer when I game and I'm sure others might like to as well.

About seven and a half feet. Convenience, it's what we're all about!

Cards Against Humanity is best played while drinking, without a doubt.
