Ravenwood Castle - A GWJ Friendly Travel Destination

And for the record guys, I told Mono he didn't have to mail the little one to us at the Castle. We're excited to have him, but we would have been willing to wait for him to move down with the rest of the family...

LOL is what I just did.

Best of luck MonoCheli and family!

Thanks guys. We are very excited and you are now 99 percent likely to have a goodjer at the castle to serve you beer and chat with anytime you wander in. We will be spending a few weeks finishing work, packing up our life and getting our house ready to sell. Which feels rather daunting right now, but will be good when it is over. I know my wife and I look forward to meeting and chatting with more goodjers from around the area or while they are on vacation.

It's me! My wife, son and I will be moving to Ravenwood!

Expect me to be tuning up the board game collection onsite and to be available to teach/play games with goodjers as often as possible. I will also be up having small S&Ts regularly. I am moving to Ohio and have to get a new gaming group.

I had to tell my current boss I was quitting before it went on the internet.

Edited to remove the photo double post, der...

Grats Mono - that must be a heck of a story for those asking where you're off to

I figured he had to send the kid as collateral.

It's to make sure Mono doesn't start a rebellion.

A ward! Makes perfect sense.

Congrats, Mono and family!

What a fantastic turn of events!

Ravenwood Castle: For Goodjers, By Goodjers.

Congratulations Tenemen, MonoCheli and families!

So cool! Congrats Mono

Monoooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Congratulations Mono!

That is great news! Grats Mono, the misses and I are hope to take a weekend getaway to Ravenwood soon. I'll warn you before we do

Nice it would be great to see you again! But am I the one that needs warning, or should you warn your wife?

Awesome Mono! We don't have genuflect to you when we visit, do we?

Nope, just Teneman if he is around. I'd rather just shake your hand, possibly a pat on the back or hug if you are down with that type of thing.

Huge congrats!!! (I am just in Columbus if you want a drunken ginger that you have to explain everything to in your group)

This is fantastic news!

Congrats Mono! And, of course, my condolences Teneman.

Congratulations all around, especially to any of the tenants of the castle around the time of year when Mono comes back with the apple butter. At least, if he's in a sharing mood.

So I mentioned earlier my plan to create a Gaming Getaway Package.

I'm working on revamping the Library now to turn it into more of a gaming/conference room. I'm going to reach out to Geek Chic and see if there's any opportunity there, but if not I'll be getting a good old fashioned rugged looking conference table.

I'm also bringing in a few selections of mead to supplement the beer and cider already available.

What I'm missing is a giveaway to go with the package. Something customized with the Ravenwood logo or castle image that each member of the gaming group would get as a part of the package. A dice bag, or set of dice, or something along those lines. But it's got to be something that I can get cheaply enough to be cost effective, without actually being cheap or chinsy. Anybody have any suggestions?

If these are available by PenCon, my wife will be super happy

Dice and Dice bags were my first thoughts too. Dice should be fairly cost effective.

In an effort to make your wife happy, I'm planning on having these available by PenCon

That was my thought too. I found some dice bags, but couldn't find a place that made custom dice. At least not in my cursory Google search. My Google-Fu is apparently weak...

All hail Ravenwood and it's new Reeve!

And as for dice, are you thinking something like this? Or were you thinking polyhedral dice?

People on BGG make them a lot. There's a guy who's currently selling Twilight Struggle custom dice, you could contact him to see where he got them made?

I was thinking polyhedral, but that may be my limited pen and paper bias coming through. Do most games these days not use polyhedral any more?

Good lead SixteenBlue, thanks. I'll definitely reach out to him.

Do you guys by any chance have a stage? (Asks the curious playwright.)

Yes. No. Maybe, define "stage".

Yes, we have a full on stage and pavilion - outdoors.

No, we don't have a proper indoor stage.

Maybe, we have done some small shows in the Great Hall in the past and might be putting a stage area in during the Pub renovation project. So it depends on how big a stage you mean.

I'd be interested in talking if you've got something you'd be interested in putting on.

They do and don't. A lot of the new systems just use a metric butt-ton of 6-sided. The problem is custom-printed polyhedrals are more expensive. You might want to talk to someone like Customdice.com

Another idea would be to just buy those (say a black bag with green print, and matching black dice with green pips) and buy a butt-ton of polyhedrals in a matching color and add them to the bags.

You can get awesome dice bags from www.dragonchow.com

In the interests of disclosure, I have spent close to $150 in her store, most on a custom dice bag she made for me.
