Ravenwood Castle - A GWJ Friendly Travel Destination

Am I missing it or did you loose the room descriptions? Like what do you get when you get the King Arthur or the Silversmiths? But I do think it looks rather nice.

Site looks great.

I'm just getting Server Default Page, Teneman.

We'll, uh, we'll be patching those in after launch...

Or would you believe they are DLC?

Damn.

We were in a rush to launch and under a deadline (last night at midnight) due to some issues with the original host, and in our hurry completely missed those pages. Thanks for pointing it out, I hadn't even realized they didn't make the cutover.

The old host issues are also why you were getting Server Default Malor. The DNS changes apparently hadn't propagated out to you yet, and instead of getting the old site as you normally would, you got the error message. She'd already yanked us off her servers.

I think you'll be a better host than she could ever be!

Nit-picking... on the Accommodations page, the Queen Victoria Suite's price is showing cents, whereas all of the others are showing just dollars.

Nuh uh!

Any more nitpicks like that, throw them at me. They bug me too, and they're easy to fix. Thanks merphle!

Website looks great. I like the extra pics. It gives you a better sense of the grounds and castle in general. I really dig the "view" pic from the King Arthur suite balcony. Are the views from the other rooms similiar?

So when we come, do I need to bring my own battle axe or will you be providing them at check-in? And when we get to see Igrayne dance?

One serious question...how is the food for the breakfasts? Is it fancy, gourmet offerings or something a little "tried and true"?

Just a thought but I think it would be nice to have a map of the grounds to go with the room descriptions. Just a thought. Keep up the good work. We look forward to coming by in October.

Hasenpfeffer!

The "Accommodations" tab is misspelled. It needs two Ms.

Fixed, thanks. Anything else guys?

On http://www.ravenwoodcastle.com/attra..., Equestrian Ridge is split into two links (same url for both). It's showing as Equestrian Ridge.

Blue Valley Massage is bolded on that same page.

Also there's no directions or map for where it is.

The HTML title of the page also needs another 'm'.

Not something specifically wrong, but it would be nice to be able to click on the pics to get a bigger image.

+Higher res. It would be even better to get a couple shots of the rooms from different angles and their facilities too.

That's being patched in. The missing Amenities pages for the various rooms are being attached to those images in an interesting way. Should be up before too terribly long.

I love the look of the gypsy wagons, Fable II anyone?

You should set up a whole pile of them, circled around a large fire pit/spit. Hide a high tech function to the rear of them, hidden by trees and bushes, then promote the entire area as a corporate retreat/team building facility for corporations and the likes.

Cross posting from the Goojers with Job Opportunities thread.

Want to live in a castle? Here's your opportunity:

Ok this is a longshot, but I've hired from the GWJer pool before and that wasn't the worst thing ever (Hi, Oily!), so what the heck.

I'm looking for a person or couple to manage Ravenwood Castle. Hospitality experience is preferred, but isn't an absolute must. I'm a big believer that the key to hiring is finding talented people with the right inherent attitudes and personalities. Specific skills can be taught from there.

The original job posting is below. I'm going to be modifying it a bit and re-posting it on some job boards shortly, but thought I'd give you guys first crack at it.

The Specials & Events page's HTML title says "About Us" and the Photo Gallery page's HTML title says "Accomodations."

Nitpicks aside, the new site looks great!

I'm not allowed to edit any more as the designer is working on redoing the Accommodations pages, but I'll add these to the list. Thanks!

New site looks much better Teneman! I saw that you ended up going with satellite internet. Was it that one service that I mentioned in the other thread and ended up being available? I'm just curious how that ends up working out. Be sure to let us know. Back when I was in high school and living in the boonies with my family, we had satellite internet. It worked, but was pretty bad. I'd like to know how much the tech has advanced.

After seeing all the photos, I really want to check it out even more. I didn't realize how big the location is. Really cool! Maybe I'll make it over there in a year or two.

so the people you didn't want fell through?

=(

Indeed Tuffalo, it is Exede we're going with. The installation didn't happen yesterday though. Amazing how often when you tell people "It's a castle", they hear "it's a really large house". It was fun to watch the installer's expression as he drove up though

Yeah Oily, that is off the table at this point. We're looking at other options and backup plans now.

Oh man so tempted. Maybe I can convince my employers to let me work remotely at night and work days for you guys.

My wife and I have talked about this on and off. This is off-the-cuff, but what about families rather than an individual or couple? We home-school two of the three of our children that live with us, so the school district isn't especially critical.

I'm at Ravenwood Castle with some friends. We're having a blast so far, though I will say that we are probably not the current target demographic for this place. Seems to be geared more towards couples and families, not so much 5 guys on motorcycles. Particularly out in the fairlytale village where we are. I got the Sleeping Beauty cottage(which I'm getting all sorts of crap from my buddies for. Very 6 year old girl decor. ) Mostly because I'm cheap, and it was $89 night, but really split between the 5 of us, I probably should have sprung for one of the Medieval Village cottages. Especially with the super Goodger friends discount. Originally planned on getting the Gypsy Waggons, which probably would have still worked, but it's nice having AC, power outlets, and indoor plumbing.
I'll check back when I get home with thoughts and whatnot.

Pics required. Preferably with you wearing your biker gear standing inside the sleeping beauty cottage.

I'm not sure if it's the original or, but I don't like the fonts used in Ravenwood Castle. Ravenwood seems too flowery and smooth, not mediaeval enough. It's certainly romantic looking, if that's the intent, but it feels like it needs to work better with the one used in castle.

And acommodation doesn't need an S on the man navigation. I realise you want to imply there's a spread, but it looks weird.

The entire navigation button on all the pages should be links to the relevant page, not just the text. As it is, the buttons light up when you mouse over them and pretend that clicking them will do something, but really they're just teasing.
