I should note: the idea here is kind of to act as a guinea pig for Teneman and Mono; I am not the be-all-end-all of GMing.

Though a GMing Ouroboros sounds fun.

What? No "meet the stars of the Conference Call" package?

If you want to hire someone to be the sinister/weird old wizard who calls them over and gives them a quest, I am available.

I think I am settling in, I gauge this on the fact that I just spent a couple hours playing Wrath of Ashardalon with an awesome guest hasn't been able to play D&D for about 5 years. He saw my wife and I playing Ascension the other day and we got to talking about his old group and then about mine and how we miss it but life has gotten in the way. While we were setting up a couple other guests came in to the pub and were asking some questions they had never played D&D but had played video game RPG and we interested in what we were doing so I asked them if they would like to join in and before long we had a four player game going as we went to help get some adventure's ruck sack that he apparently couldn't hold on to while he ran from a dragon... man I love being a gamer. Games are such a good venue for personal interaction.

Zenke coming to GM at the castle should also be great fun!

I am so damn jealous right now. October can't come soon enough!

DENIED!

Spoiler:

No slap and tickle? Woe!

I think that sign should hang in the pub at Ravenwood Castle .

I have that exact sign (though in a different presentation) in my game room.

Ok well I think I agree it should be here. Hedge is yours on wood? and where did you get it?

After a long weekend's worth of work, our Library Game Room is nearly complete.

We've installed a beautiful 4'x10' gaming table which comfortably sits up to ten people, as well as brand new lighting.

There's still some decorative work to be done, which will hopefully be complete in the few weeks, but it's coming together nicely!

Oh, and King Arthur's room is now properly equipped with Excalibur.

mine is actually tin; and I spontaneously bought it back in college at some craft fair thing. Not much help there, I'm afraid.

There are a couple on eBay, if you're looking, TeneManoCheli.

Hehe, my brother-in-law was grilling me about the castle since I'd mentioned it on Facebook. The question I got asked most from my family was "why is there a castle in Ohio?" My dad couldn't wrap his head around the concept of "someone I know from the internet".

Teneman, will the gallery page get links to full-sized images? Right now the photos are too few and too small to really get a sense of the grandeur.

The photo gallery is indeed somewhat lacking. We're planning on redoing that page completely, I'm just not sure how quickly we'll be able to get to it.

Awesome. Wish I wasn't so far away, I'd love to come and take photos.

Of you, in the shower

So stop scheduling vacations when I give you excuses to drive to Ohio.

Indeed. Plenty of excuses, plenty of dates. October 26th and 27th. February 1st and 2nd. March 1st and 2nd.

Oops, forget that last one. Nothing to see here, move along.

Might want to be careful about putting up a sign that says "No Fakirs".

Oh, this is the first I've heard of the February & March dates.

Our Disney vacation was planned before PenCon, so really it's obvious you deliberately planned it on the weekend I couldn't go.

February is gaming with Zenke from a few pages back.

I don't know what you mean about a March date.

Well, we were really concerned that we were at the limits of our drunken debauchery quota and I was told that you would blow that out of the water so I made sure to pick that weekend.

We've since bought some more debauchery credits (by popular demand!) so maybe next year.

You have no idea of the Pandora's Box you would unleash were he to fly in on his magic cloud, ushering in his Everclear Hellhounds.

I have witnessed horrors during New Year's Eve parties that would make rivers turn to ice, the undead quickly return to their rest, and would make the Pope punch a baby that is holding a newborn puppy.

That sounds like a good party. Include some boobs and I'd be there.

Just a quick update, the Zenke Gaming Weekend has been posted on Facebook and also just went out in this month's mass mailing. We've started selling the spots, of which there are only twelve.

I know some GWJers were interested in doing this, so I wanted to put it out there again. I'm not concerned about filling the spots, I have little doubt that we'll have a full table once February 1st rolls around. I just didn't want a GWJer who wanted a chance to be involved to miss out.

We'll have more LFG weekends, but they won't all include our very own Mr. Zenke.

I want to share that I had a wonderful weekend this week and I love my job. First I got to enjoy Phishposer's S&T in Cincinnati last night, great fun there of course!

Then tonight I was chatting with a lovely couple and he asked me how I became a "Castle Steward". That question has always been an interesting question to answer. When I first told my dad what we were going to do I said "Well I saw a job posting on these forums I read for innkeeper and let him know I was interested." To which he replied "So you go offered a job by some guy on the internet and you are moving to Ohio to run a castle? Do you think that is a wise decision?"

After that answer I have been rather delicate how I describe how I knew Teneman and ended up moving to the castle. This time however I wan't in the mood to bat around the bush and just said we had met through an online forum called Gamers With Jobs where he had posted about needing someone to manage his new castle and I applied. I was ready for the funny looks I have gotten from others but these too said "That is great! We are big gamers too."

I talked about how Teneman and I are both big gamers and how I love board games and about GWJ and how nice a community it has. They let me know they are big Magic and D&D players and also enjoy video games too. I offer that if they are interested we should try a deck building game because it they like Magic they would like a deck builder. I suggested Ascension because it is easy to setup and plays quickly. We played a couple games and had a good evening talking about Magic, D&D, board games and GWJ. He was very interested in our community and both him and his wife enjoyed the game. He said he would be looking of the site when he got home while his wife was saying they should get Ascension to play at home. I told them how to reach GWJ and let them know there is a strong group of goodjers near them in the Cleveland area etc. so hopefully they will show up soon.

Hehe, so I got to turn two nice people on to both GWJ and board games, for work.

I'd like to apply for the position of Castle Jester. Pleeeeaasssse? MonoCheli has the life and I have to go sit at a small cube all day. BLAH! BLAH I SAY!

That wasn't amusing at all. BACK TO YOUR CUBE!

I am glad to be free of my cube (well it was an office but same work flow) This morning I found out that another couple here last night are also gamers. They were rather bummed we were playing without them last night. So the couple from last night and from this morning spent a hour or so chatting over the chess set with me about games and D&D etc. I told them about Pencon, and GWJ and our Zenke weekend and they seemed interested. I hope they can make it to some of them and/or join the community.

I think we need a Book of GWJ that I can put in every room with the Gideon Bibles because I feel like an evangelist. Or maybe a track I can hand out.

Do you long to find others to game with that have busy lives too?
Do you feel a hole in life that could only be filled by fellow like minded gamers?
Are you tiers of playing with immature kids that just don't get it?
There is an answer and it is available to anyone all you need to do is post.
