The Darksiders 2® Catch-All

Agreed, but probably a less maybe. Especially with a year like the one we are having game wise. Not sure I will have time for anything this fall except Just Cause 3 and Mad Max (unless they announce something at E3 to push them down the list).

So, how much would you pay?

You pay... this much.

For up-rezzed versions of both games? $40. For gameplay tweaks and fixes for both games? $60.

For the "is it any good" joke to keep going forever? No price is too high!!!!

I knew I liked you, Rykin. This is my favorite gwj-joke!

There'd have to be quite a few fixes. For starters, removing the random loot.
/haters gonna hate

I just picked this up for the Xbox One in the big Amazon Prime Day sale.

Without having to read 17 pages are there any great, useful, or important tips I should know? Often times in games there is something that once you learn it you think - darn if I only knew that when I started! So what is it for Darksiders 2?

Probably the thing I wished I had known going in is that this game is a lot longer than it looks like it will be. I'm used to open world games that gradually open up a single map over time. This game looks like it follows that template and then shuffles you off to a second map, and then a third one, and then a fourth one. There were multiple times when I expected to be heading into the final portion of the game only to discover that I was just moving on to a new zone. It's created at times a feeling of fatigue, like the game just isn't going to end.

Huh. I've forgotten a fourth map, just the three.

And that is one of the things that has me wondering if I'd be fine with a replay. Knowing just how long the game is, that way I don't get to area three and think "Good Lord, another one?!".

I'm going into my "Deathfininitive Edition" play on the PS4 with the knowledge that it's a good game, not a great game, and that seems to be suiting me just fine.

I've just made it to the second section, and I love the way they have sprinkled the additional DLC into the story, rather than my inbox being full with a shed load of items I can't access until (insert higher level here) has been reached.

I feel possessed weapons could be a rabbit hole, and knowing if you want to play as Arcane or a Strength character will make a difference with some of your armour choices, and which stones you feed to a certain character to build up the relevant stats to back up how you spend your wraith points.

Other than that. I don't "think" any areas get cut off for ever (maybe one, in an optional area, but nothing huge). If you're "playing for the cheevs" thaen maybe look to see if there are any missable achievements listed in your favourite FAQ sites, but 12-15 hours in, I'm still having fun, collecting, killing, and roaming the land. It's tickling my itch for games like Soul Reaver, Zelda, and Metroid (to varying degrees), without being any of those IPs.

My issue as well..by the second map I had lost all interest in doing this over and over.

I didn't even make it that far. Which is sad because I really loved the first game.

God, this game really never does end. Every time I finish an area, I think that's it, and then there's another area. It doesn't help that the last three or four dungeons were just blatantly bolted onto the game. Rather than tying them to an overworld, you jump into teleporters that carry you to little mini-areas that consist of little more than a corridor and the entrance to the dungeon.

Naturally, some of the game's best ideas are in the final few dungeons. But I just want it to be over already. The story is incomprehensible gibberish anyway.

I do remember it going a bit long when I played the version before the Deathfinitive version that was rereleased. Steam says 41 hours and that may involve some time paused. I'm pretty sure I started skipping anything that was optional unless it was directly on my way to something else.

That said, I never finished Darksiders 1 - so I guess I thought DS 2 was better.

I just wish the "Deathfinitive" edition hadn't overwritten the original edition. IMNSHO they ruined the art design.

Oh, it's finally over. Someone please hire Vigil some good writers and an editor for their ideas. They are so close to making a genuinely great game but fall just short in remarkable ways.

What's different? I played the Wii U release, so I'm not sure which version that is.

The Deathinitive edition, while I think it has higher res textures and models, has a muted, boring color palette. The original release was much more colorful. It was more like the original Darksiders. According to Wikipedia, the Deathinitive edition was only released on PS4, XBO and PC.

W00t w00t!!!! The first Darksiders is getting a remastered version for next gen!!!!

And it is called the Warmastered Edition.

Because they just want you to feel embarrassed for even having these games.

So, i finally downloaded Darksiders II on my PS3 (had purchased it a couple of years ago or so) and somehow it keeps freezing about 18 minutes in when I'm about to enter or rather exit out into this arena-like place (a bit after the first boss/big enemy). I've been scouring the web for a fix and there appears to be none and no one else seems to get the freeze on the same spot as me, though there seems to be a lot of issues with freezing across all platforms.

Anyone know a trick for this or did they run into similar issues and fixed them? I'm pretty miffed at this. It's patched to the latest version, so I might delete it and download it again, but this is really making me angry.

Sorry for the rant; just hoping for some help

Oh snap look what got leaked. You'll be playing as Fury, the horsewoman, whose attire has been wisely updated since Joe Mad's original design.

I'm curious about this. Has a bunch of the original ex-Vigil team, but some of those team members are doing BattleChasers now. In addition, I recall the original hope being for Darksiders 3 by the developers to be a four-player co-op game. Looks like we're not heading that direction.

Still, good to know the franchise lives on.

Here is the link for pre-order thru amazon : https://www.amazon.com/Darksiders-3-...

Wasn't that the original hope for 2 as well? I'm down for another one though. Been wanting to play the Warmastered Edition of the first game and I picked up the Deathfinitive Edition of the second one when it was on sale.

You mean this impossibly corseted twisted spine one?

Yeah, the new design looks pretty badass. Although... heels.

Here, let me give you another angle. In fact, this one has two.

Based on this trailer, she's certainly covered, but the armor is impractical. Though to be honest.... who in this franchise is practical?

They're actually the source of her power. Running around in those all day would fill anyone with Fury.

I actually like her "personality".

War was gruff and stoic, Death had a dry sarcasm that suited him well, I think we're going to see a lot of spirit in Fury's character (fingers crossed).

I have Deathfinitive and Warmastered, so I'm going to give both of those a good play through before this releases. I hope it does well, and it isn't cancelled between now and estimated release.

Yeah, I've gotta play those again. I know I didn't finish 2 - I can't remember if I finished 1 or not. I got $4.95 that says I didn't.

I have played through 1 multiple times. Actually been wanting to play it again since the Warmastered edition released. It keeps getting brought up as a possibility for SallyNasty's Game Club, but it hasn't been the winner yet (always a bridesmaid never a bride).

I bounced off of 2 pretty hard. I recently bought the Deathfinitive edition when it was on sale though because I want to give it another shot.
