Not that I know of. They should pay me! Or something.

I was here first. You need to leave.

I'm pretty sure I heard some nasal American voice whining at our team one match.

I am pretty sure it does too.

We should use vent anyway so we can make fun of all the pubbies.

Well that worked quite well. Let's do it again!

Signing up for this thread, although didn't really read any of it. I'd be down for some GWJer games.

*gasp!*

Me neither. Good to have you on board, Queueball. Midweek works the best for me, so I'll likely be setting up events for Tues, Wed, and Thurs. And remember that everyone has the ability to invite others and post events of their own whenever they want people to tag along. For instance, I made an immediate event late last night and no one joined me.

I apparently decided that I needed yet another multiplayer game that I wasn't terribly good at, so this one's now in my Steam list along with all the others.

Please toss me an invite to the Steam group, link's in the sig!

I heard people on the PC Gamer podcast rave about this game, so between that and Penny Arcade's love for it and the similarities to TF2, I took the plunge. Please invite me to the Steam group (link in the sig). Thanks.

Interesting read on Penny Arcade about what they had to change mechanics wise in the port to PC. Makes me want to buy the PC version more than I thought.

I pm'd you. I've caved. I was going to hold out, but I had so much fun on 360 and the PA dev talk about changes convinced me.

Looks like the game comes with a 1 day guest pass. So if anybody wants mine, give me your details either here or via PM.

I'll be curious to see how this does on the PC. I loved this game on the 360, but it never really took off. It always felt like a better fit for the PC.

It was pretty hot for awhile on 360. We definitely had a solid crew of GWJ people initially. It just had some problems that it took them awhile to fix. Matchmaking as of late November/Early December, it still had matchmaking issues when I and PlainGreyT played.

I ran through the tutorial to set up my key binds (I don't use WASD, so this is always something I do). Seems to run well at 19x12 with everything on high on a middling machine (Q6600, GTX260, 8GB, W7 64).

Going to have to think about my key bind strategy a bit more to get the skills easy to get to in a hurry.

I would be interested to hear what you come up with.

Not sure mine apply to others, since I use WERD instead of WASD. I like the hand position better, and it has more keys available for my pinky on the left side than a WASD user.

First thoughts: You really don't need anything but the toggle on weapons switch, as there are only two guns. So the "gun 1, gun 2" are wasted keys IMO.

"Use" isn't as important as it might be in some other games since it's mainly for turrets and buying juice or annihilators), so I might put it in a lower priority key (for instance a key that requires me to move my finger off the movement keys a bit).

I'll use my standard reload on mouse 5 (farthest away from me on the three thumb buttons on my mouse). Reload isn't really quite as big a deal here as other games, either.

I might use my normal mouse 4 button as a grapple button (skill 3), as it should be easy to reach. Skills 1 and 2 might be on Q and A, as those do not require me to remove my hands from movement keys, and sometimes you want to do those in panic situations while moving, especially around Assassin's. I like Gunner Slam to be quick to take care of Assassin's when I sense them in close.

S might be skill upgrade, as it makes logical letter sense and is still easy to reach.

Got to think about the other stuff. I don't think the skill upgrade key binds matter much once you get to the upgrade GUI, because mousing them is really quick. Don't know what a direct key bind would help there.

Again, all this won't apply if you're using WASD, but maybe the logic will help. For all I know the standard binds are logical if you're a WASD player. I just always kind of have to start from scratch since I never got used to WASD, and have used WERD since Quake 1.

I've started a group-buy for the Steam release of MNC and have two slots left. (My wife and I were the first two. ;-)) If anyone wants in, PM me your Steam name. It works out to $11.25 per copy. Once I get your PM, I will PM you back with my Paypal address. You gift me $11.25 and... presto! MNC in your Steam library. I have forum feedback on Heatware for all you skeptics.

UPDATE: All gone.

Time for Tuesday Night Combat! The group event is set at 9 EST, but start playing whenever you like. And hop into vent, that'd be nice, too.

Hopefully the terrible weather conditions in the Midwest will permit me join.

There a group? Guess I need an invite.

EDIT: Found it and joined.

I have a TF2 scrim at 9, but I'll check this out when i'm done.

Nope, this is some harsh stuff. Will be lucky to even have internet when I wake up tomorrow, I suspect. Have fun, guys!

I am only getting rain where I am, but lost power two hours ago. I assume a wreck.

More sports fun tonight, folks! Wednesday Night Combat is up for 9 EST. I should be there tonight.

Has everybody noticed how there are always two assassins on each team in every game? I wonder why that is. They are annoying, but thankfully 90% of the people playing them are in it only for the K:D ratio and I usually end up owning them time after time. My two favorite ways of killing an assassin is

1. As a tank, I go for health 3 right as quick as possible. Then when the assassin grapples me it almost never is a kill (except for a backstab which I make hard to do). I then do my own grapple and knock them out of the ring, or use charge to kill them

2. As a support, I stick close to my firebug and let the assassin hit me from the front. This usually doesn't result in death. I then use the damage bean on them while jumping around the turret until they are dead. If my turret is level 3, I even get healed while jumping around.

Any other anti-assassin techniques?

As a gunner, slam takes care of them quickly. Also, listen for them, you can hear them when cloaked.

Assassins really work best mowing down the creep, but nobody plays that way. They want to kill Pros all the time, which is not nearly as effective for the class. Once they get the katana, they can mow through the bots like crazy.

I have seen a cheap tactic where during overtime the assassins juice up, run in cloaked and then start beating on the money ball, while running around it really fast. Even with 3 turrets shooting and a firebug and two players, the assassin takes down half of the money balls HP. I know on the 360 version, they toned down the juice effect on the money ball, but it seems way to powerful of a tactic right now. I was playing a game where my team was winning and we even had damaged their money ball to about 3/4 HP before overtime, but then overtime hit and we would lose.

I've just got into the habit of leaving servers with stupid stacking. It's just not fun.

This is true, but every server has two assassins (which is the cap I believe). I played on a server yesterday where we had 3 gunners. We were getting slaughtered because of it so I left. Very frustrating.

Has anyone noticed that the mouse movements very jerky on the PC version? I have a hard time hitting people with the tanks long range weapon because I move the mouse slightly and the cursor jerks. Don't have this problem with any other game.
