In Firefox, the embed gives the following error:
Firefox Can’t Open This PageTo protect your security, cse.google.com will not allow Firefox to display the page if another site has embedded it. To see this page, you need to open it in a new window.
Below that is a button allowing me to open the search in a new window, where the search results are presented to me like they would be if they were embedded.
I poked, and this is known.
It appears that Google did something and no longer supports how GWJ uses the embedded Google Search.
A different method is being looked for, but it will take some dev time.
*****Never mind***** forum search already requested
Google does a terrible job of scraping this site for search IMO. I constantly struggle to find old NFL threads by searching for player names that I know for a fact I've typed in posts, and Google simply cannot find it.
I would love if we could have a real, localized, full text search, with an ability to scope searches (eg. only posts on the Sports boards). Which I know is a much bigger ask.

I'll do it for $5,000,000
I’ll do it for $4,000,000.
I'll do it for...
Can I request that for the next site update the forums perform better on mobile? Threads with lots of images perform really poorly when returning the user to last read message.
I'll mention it.
Spam protection idea: How about maybe making it so Coffee Grinders can't edit posts, or maybe give a 1-hour grace period for edits? Something to prevent someone from making a seemingly innocuous post, then editing it a week or two later to add a spam link.
Also might be worth reconsidering a previous anti-spam measure that I think was removed in ages past: disallow Coffee Grinders from posting links, using BBCode, or something like that.
Or maybe this isn't as much of a problem as I think it is. Whatever.
I believe this used to exist, but that got accidentally removed in an update at some point in time.
The admin team is aware of it and are looking at ways to prevent it in the future.
In the mean time, simply report the posts and a mod will see it and watch the post(s) and user in question.

Yeah, I've been reporting them after the post gets edited. Thanks.
