Any chance of getting a "preview" button when sending a PM?

Not a perfect solution but you can pm yourself to test things out.

So this is a bug/ odd behavior thing. My account says I have 1 new PM, but when I click on the PM button it says 'you are not authorized to view this page'. Any idea what it might be that causes this?

EDIT: oh, never mind. Just changed my search terms a bit and found the answer. I need 20 posts to be able to access it. That's what I get for mostly being a lurker

Pro tip - instead of hitting edit, you should have just double posted. You will get to 20 quicker that way. Also you should reply to this. Unless you enjoy the mystery PM taunting you.

If you quote my above post you'll see I had a bunch of blank lines created by hard return.

I have a habit of writing something and then posting a video or image following the text. Generally I finish a sentence and put two hard returns in. Then I post the video or image using one of the buttons.

If I go back and put a hard return/blank line in, the image/video I've inserted will no longer bump up against the prior paragraph. I did that on the prior image.

If I don't put that extra line in I get this:

Which is okay, but makes things look a little ugly and harder to read to me. And it didn't used to do this. It used to put the tags in where my cursor was.

This is no longer happening.

I don't know if you fixed it or Chrome updated or whatever, but I'm super glad it's fixed.

But double posting is so inefficient! I don't want to be the one responsible for the internet running out of posts. Because we all know posts are like IP addresses, finite and in short supply. At least until we get the IPv6 style upgrade.

Nope, editing is the proper and responsible use of resources here

For extra special fun (and commentary on how I typically lurk without logging in) it turns out that the PM was, wait for it...

The donation drive mail sent to everyone...

...in 2015.

Yup. I'd logged in and posted since, but never noticed that before. Go me

I've seen this issue happen occasionally over the years, but it seems to be happening a little more often recently, and this may be a Drupal issue for all I know, i.e. not something the GWJ crew can fix. Anyway, the issue is the star in the upper right not being red when there are new posts in a thread that I've favorited.

Is there a way to stop getting activity notices for a thread I posted in once, a long time ago that I haven't favorited? Such as, say, the Steam Community thread.

On the front page article threads can the footer be added with the site breadcrumbs? Like at the bottom of this page/thread there are the links to jump back to Home >> Forums >> Tech and Help, but these don't exist at the bottom of the article threads.

Just a minor annoyance that when done with the article thread you have to scroll back up to the top of the page to get to the forum links, instead of using the bottom links where you are already at the bottom of the thread.

This is the single most requested feature that they'll never implement.

Bummer. Well, I guess now I have another one in that bucket...

Any chance the mobile-size interface could expose the site search somehow? There's currently not a way to get to it.

I can usually glitch it to work by long pressing on "more" but then not opening the link. It will then drop down and give me access to search.

At least on Android/Chrome.

I bookmarked it: https://www.gamerswithjobs.com/searc...

I find that easier than the press and hold trick.

20 posts to view a Mysterious Private Message? That's completely ignorant.

Even better: 20 posts to view a donation solicitation. That's tacky.

Hmmm, it could very well be a donation solicitation. But the annoying emails that I have a new message are even worse when I can't view said message.

I'm impressed you get emails! I've done everything I can and still can't manage to get notifications for a new message.

I usually get them fine, but this one went right to Gmail's spam folder for violating sending guidelines.

I get the email notifications no problem.

GJW acquired "PM taunt". Success.

Bug: When I got to "My Inbox" it says 'You are not authorized to access this page.' -- umm, wat? I just logged in and I can't read my PMs?

The 20 post thing is an anti-spammer measure, and frankly I think the site's anti-spam measures have been too effective. I for one miss some of the spam. I could learn about new games and exciting new products for sale, all in one place.

Me too

Bug report: Spam filter is still letting *Legion* through. Can we pretty please tighten up security around here?

They can't afford to lose my $2 monthly Patreon money.

EDIT: Speaking of which, I thought I'd give my Patreon support a little bump, but then...

REEEEE

Each year that the Jags don't win the Super Bowl, you should add another dollar to your monthly donation.

And the only solution is more cowbell spam!
