Guild Wars 1 Hall of Monuments Catch-All

The guide I posted here on the prior page is really just intended for folks that want a few quick points before GW2 launches.

If you are in it for the long haul, and plan to work on your HoM after GW2 launches, the guide I copied/pasted on page one here would be a better path to follow. It will take more like 200-400 hours to complete your 30 HoM points however.

Edit: revised the post to make more sense now that we are on page three.

That's a spectacular post, DevilStick. Thanks! (though my own progress has been a quirky mashup of what you've been directing me to do, and just plodding along through the Prophecies storyline -- almost Ascended now!)

Thanks!

My wife and kids are visiting my sister-in-law tonight. Tonight would be an excellent night for me to help you finish Ascension and take you through steps 5 and 10 - I will look for you online after dinner.

I figured I'd throw this out here. If anyone needs a couple of Minipets for their Hall, I have some undedicated duplicates up for grabs. I have the following:

Pigs (gold) x 2
Kirin (purple)
Burning Titan (purple)
Ooze (purple)
Abominaton (white)
Siege Devourer (white)
Heket Warrior (white)
Shard Wolf (white)
Jade Armor (white)

I'd like to help as many people to an additional point as possible, so newer players without any minis, or people just under a threshold (20/30/40/50) get priority. Drop me a PM or catch me in game (Zul Aronos)

I'd like to reiterate this offer, one Gold pig and the Kirin went to Merple this weekend to help him to another point, so the rest are still available.

Is Gold the Unique tag? I have a rare, but I still need a unique. If so, I'd love to grab that from you.

Gold should be rare, green should be unique (despite not actually being unique). If you've got all 4 games and the time to gather the ingredients (or the money to buy them) the black moa chick is a unique minipet.

Yep, Gold is the rare. You (or anyone) is still welcome to anything on the list though.

I'd actually lost track of what's what, didn't realise I had a Unique pet. Forgot that the Bone Dragon was one. It's cool, it makes noise.

And a very generous gift it was, too! Thank you again! Those gave me my fifth point -- and my first HoM Title!

Also, DevilStick spent way too much of his precious time last night (a) coaching me through the Ascendency test, (b) running me to a few more outposts, (c) directing me to do the Ranger quest, so that he could then (d) lead me through the Underworld so I could capture the level 20 Spider there. Thank you again, sir!

I'm about 4 minipets short of 18 HOM points. However, I want to make sure there's a wide selection for the newer players. Would you be willing to trade for the ooze, heket warrior and jade armor? I have an extra stone summit rider, word of madness and juggernat.

Sure, I'll make the trade, but I'll just take those 2 in return for the 3 you want. Already have a Juggernaut, so you can find it another home. I'm 10 short of the next Devotion point, but 2 more is a step closer.

When do you want to meet up? I'm free for about the next 4 hours, just having dinner and playing Hero Academy.

Hopefully an easy question to answer, I have 4 HoM points currently, and don't see myself wanting to spend too much playing GW just for points. Here's what I have right now.
Fellowship 1/8 (MOX Statue)
Honor 3/18 (Account Linked)

So according to the guide I should buy 4 Cloths of the Brotherhood, and use them on 4 L20 heros, but will need to complete "Destruction's Depths" quest first. (Doubtful if I can do this, the monsters are lvl 28).

So my only options is to purchase another Monumental Tapestry and get a pet? Which leads to my next question where do I buy these items and how to you calculate gold? Cos I have about 5-6 plat, is that 5-6k gold?

I just got all my tapestries through playing the game, didn't take too long iirc. I actually had no idea it was something people felt the need to buy.

If you unlock the Devotion monument I'll give you the Rare Mini Pig, that's 2 points if you don't have any pets, 1 if you do.

5-6 plat is 5-6k gold, yes.

Another thing to do is get someone to take you to the appropriate areas to grab the rare pets. If you already have unlocked the areas to travel to, it would only take about two hours to grab all 3 (though you'd have to level the Phoenix pet up to 20 before adding it to the HoM).

To buy the Cloths of the Brotherhood, you would have to buy them from other players.

Man, some of those War in Kryta quests are rough! I'm on the 2nd to last one (and THIIIS close to my oppressor weapon) and am stuck. Toying with different hero loadouts and I think I'll be able to do it, but it will be close.

I had a horrible time with the Battle for Lion's Arch (the last one)

Spoiler:

I ended up just barely making it with a minion master, a rit using a lot of spirits, two monks (one heal, one prot), an ele (set up for aoe and wards), and myself as a warrior (100 blades/tank). It went smoothly for most of the defense, but once the jade constructs started coming we died and just barely fought them back from killing the queen.

This was before I got all the skills to run the 7 hero support build, which might make it easier.

Well you're capped at 6 heroes for that particular one, but yes, it's considerably easier once you assemble the dream team.

Unless you play through EOTN, you will need someone to run you through Destruction's Depths. (Someone who has already done it.) I can do that run with you later on in the week if you can't find someone else before then.

You are correct that "5-6 plat = 5-6k gold"

Occasionally I've seen someone selling tapestry pieces for 5-10K. But you can also just play a little more EOTN to get your second. Kamadan is the main trade hub. Next best option is probably the Eye of the North.

Eye of the north and Lion's Arch are still somewhat active. I wouldnt go there as a seller, but as a buyer you'll probably find what you need in either.

Looks like A-Net is throwing a nice treat to those of use still grinding HoM points. They started an event, not sure how long it will last, where you can do a series of quests (across all 4 major campaigns). The result is a gift that grants you a tormented weapon (good for a few HoM points).

The quests is essentially a farewell tour of some of the key locations and nice vistas. Nice touch.

Ooh, cool! Firing it up now.

Where does one find this quest?

I found the Tyria one in Lion's Arch, I'd assume the others will be Kamadan, Kaineng and maybe the Eye.

Correct.

After a few painful tries, I finished the last mission of Prophecies last night with Stengah's help (read: he & his uberHeroes basically powered me through it). Thanks Stengah!

Now I'm back on track to go through the EOTN quests for HoM points.

Heh, been banging my head on that mission for a few days now. Those Sparks are assholes.

Sparks are fine... by themselves. The thing I found about that mission is getting good pulls, that takes some patience and luck.

Well you really need to use the flags. Flag your team back and do the pulling yourself. Back in the day when only prophecies was out completing that mission with only henchmen was a huge challenge (only henchmen in your party, and the flags werent implemented yet).

As a monk I find Rodgort's Invocation(sp?) and the burning very tough to deal with. I'm running 2 Eles with frozen armour, but they're a bit dumb to use it, need to optimise their bars.

I just got my third tapestry (by finishing the Norn chain), and now I'm up to a whopping 10 HoM points. Aww yeahhh.

Merphle isn't kidding about the uber heroes. Since I made the effort to get all the skills required for the 7-balanced hero build (slightly modified to better suit a melee player) things have been incredibly easy. I was able to get both the Prophecies and Factions campaigns done in hard mode in a few nights each (making heavy use of the wiki). I'm running a 100-Blades/adrenal sword build that lets me do at least 30, and usually over 50 damage a hit.

Thanks to the Wayfarer's Reverie reward, I hit 30 HoM points last night.
