Medic Assists are valued very highly on the stats, ubers less so, and healing not at all. I'm not sure how else it could be, though; the game is filled with tons of little unquantifiable intricacies. Otherwise we'd have points for making players flee in terror (ukick, tboon) or awesome team-captaining skills (Brainz, Sam), etc.

So sitting back helping everyone stay alive and healthy is a thankless job, even according to the stats. On the other hand, everyone loves you for making them not-die and for ubering at the right times.

Except FlamingPeasant, of course. He eats Medics for breakfast.

Just the enemy medics. I love my medics. Back from vacation Friday afternoon. Hopefully I'll see you all that night. Been two weeks since I fired a rocket. I'm jonesing.

Hmm. I wasn't really trying to pocket medic Mex tonight, but it seemed like every time I had a kritz or uber ready, there he was. And many mannes were asploded.

Man, I wish Valve would hurry up and fix that bug with invisible mannes in 3rd person view in the replay editor. It's frustrating and makes me not want to make replays.

And that right there is what makes playing Medic so very worth it. Kritz-pocketing WizKid for the first two-thirds of that run garnered 20+ assists, a Mex domination, and the top team score. Thank you sir; it was überwältigend.

I had a nightmare where I was in an endless corridor version of koth_nucleus, and I was running and running, and tboon was chasing behind me with his infinite ammo flamethrower, cackling all the time...

I guess what I'm saying is, can we change the startup map for Stan's to something else for a while?

Hahaha! I have that same dream all the time except I am the one doing the chasing (and cackling) (and burning)!

I'm not sure what I am saying except I agree a startup map change would be nice.

Ended up playing FTL instead. God I love FTL.

IMO, what makes Nucleus a good DM/startup map is that the point is so easy to ignore. The RED and BLU sides of the map aren't walled off. Contrast with Sawmill, where you can only enter the opposite side of the map from a handful of chokepoints, or Lakeside, where the point forms an almost-literal wall.

Outside Nucleus, I think Harvest and Viaduct are the best stock maps for screwing around killing each other.

It's a shame there's no koth_watchtower. That would be pretty neat. Snipers would probably dominate, though.

I wish garbage didn't break things. It is a fun KOTH map. Viaduct isn't bad.

I agree, the garbage style KOTH maps actually feel like a KOTH map (with an actual hill being involved). Given most map designers goal of "good enough", it'll likely not be updated to run well and not crash servers.

Oh great, I hadn't even noticed there's no hill in Harvest to justify the "King of the Hill" name. Now it's going to bother me every time we play it >_<

edit: I love Viaduct, although I remember people didn't like it because the snow FX were too heavy or something. I just disabled them : p
