Folks can play any time, and there's almost always a game on the public server, but for Goodjer-on-Goodjer action we also have weekly games on the private server.

Official Private Server Nights
Monday 8PM EST
Friday 8PM EST

(The private server is just for Goodjers and is password-protected. Join the steam groups, post in the forums, don't be a jerk, and we'll be happy to have you on board)

Server IP: 74.91.120.31:27015

Current server info is always posted in the TF2 Group.

If we need anymore info for the first post, let me know. Links to any custom maps would be good.

Tuesday night is TF2 West Coast game night, I think starting at 8pm Pacific Time (GMT -8). It may be redundant to have a WCG night thread and TF2 thread, but I'll let you decide that.

I'll definitely be around, although I'm generally not available until about 9:30pm EST on Mondays. Hopefully the servers will be hopping by the time I get home! Scaphism, you might want to schedule the WCG TF2 game in Steam. I don't see it there, and your post is the first I've heard of it. Since I'm on Mountain time, I'd probably be hitting that night more than another.

I'm in the East coast and I didn't arrange the WCG night, but I do know about it.

Maybe a silly question: Can anyone schedule a Steam [Game] Event?

Awesome sauce'em.

Oh, official. Will have to put on my fancy pants before logging on!

Just a heads up, but the Annex is no more. I announced this in the Catch-All thread. I am keeping Stan's Lounge open for business though.

That you have a server for us at all is massively appreciated. Thanks very much!

Hello shiny new official thread, what with your spiffy new title and acoutrements!

So long as I'm not out of town on business (my laptop can't handle TF2) I will likely be playing on Mondays and Fridays, and other nights besides. TF2 is my main game at the moment, and I'm happy to provide a nice meaty target for you to practice on.

SPY IS SAPPIN MY HOEDOWN

Sort of tangential: but was it just me, or where many of the spies last night trying out some of the tricks we saw in the video yesterday? Seemed like quite a few people trying to backstab the engineer and then quickly sap the sentry, or get in position to serial backstab groups of enemies? Also, more use of the revolver than I typically see with spies.

Lucky or Unlucky, GWJ has several spies that are on par with the video previously mentioned. Thirtheenth, Tykl, and Pharacon are consistently players I watch and learn from.

I will try to be in on most Mondays. I can't take the language on the pub servers anymore and I'm wearing out the Mute Player option. Besides, you guys actually understand the concept of TEAM attacks, defense, and communication in game. The mic is not for Female Doggoing and swearing!

You wouldn't believe how many times I have had a moron on my team in the pubs go rogue, drop the intel somewhere, not tell the rest of the team where, and try to play hero by getting it back again ALONE.

One good thing about the pubs though, as a Pyro I just love enemy spies who use teleports! Thank you, so much!

After revisiting Counter-Strike I've realized how much more civilized TF2 players generally are. CS pub players are the bottom of the barrel, most of the time anyway.

I'd like to play spy more often but we do seem to have a glut of spies and a dearth of medics. Much like snipers, their efficiency drops sharply when you have more than two. You have to have people establishing and holding a line in order for the spies and snipers to be really effective.

Last night I jumped in and was the 6th or 7th guy on my team - there were no medics, so it was an easy choice for me. As the server filled up we got a few more, until we finally ended up on Granary. I jumped to Engineer, having heard (and seen) that a good engineer can make or break that map. We had a few really good battles and a few steamrolls, but ended up with just one medic again and ended up turtling quite a bit, unable to push out, so I switched back to medic. Until Fen joined and freed me up for some carnage.

JEESH! Look what happens over turkey weekend! I fly off back to Southern California and when I get back to the promise land my favorite thread is closed

Ohh well tooks like is a COD vs TF2 knife fight! So I will be on the server tonight sometime between 9pm-10 pm CST till whenever. So everyone be there or be square, my sentry has been oiled and upgraded with a Kill-you-quick GPS system and my flame resistant rubber pyro suit is a little more form fitting thanks to thanksgiving turkey.

Hope to see you guys online tonight, because every night is TF2 night! (unless its Crysis night :D)

I did just fine. We wrestled, I threw in the guillotine which is quite effective as I'm over 6ft.

Yeah, they and you distant form the spy core of GWJ.
I try to occasionally spy but rarely meet with the success you lot do.

With the writer's strike, making that 8PM EST time on Monday will be easier

But I'll tell ya what, after last night, it's a good thing for me that the stats haven't switched over to Stan's yet...

Added and updated both here and the Steam page.

I've added it to the list here. We'll see if your precious thread survives

Also, I have no custom maps on Stan's Lounge at the moment. I think we played out Castle and Turbine. If anybody spots some good ones, send me a link and I'll check them out.

against Goodjers pyro is the easiest class to disguise as. Not only are there a large number of them they also tend to be less suspect not pushing forward due to them hunting for spies.

I tend to play a lot of pyro lately. If you see a pyro with my name on it and he doesn't flame you, it is undoubtedly a spy. I flame everyone. Spies must burn! (Unless, of course, they are on my team. Then by all means, stab away.)

I should be up for some playing tonight as long as I don't get sucked into Mass Effect.

My main way of spotting spies is if we're running towards each other and the the other person runs around me, not through/near me, they're a spy! I'd say this works over half the time.

I hear that, but afterwards, I almost felt guilty for abandoning my medic duties while trying (pointlessly) to pad my bonesaw stats. Funny thing was, after I quit messing around and got down to business, I managed to get three quick bonesaw kills quite legitimately while defending point C on gravel pit.

TF2 wrote:

The lesson is grasshopper, we pursue that which retreats from us. The reverse of this is also true. If you pursue the bonesaw kill, it flees from you. If you are desireless, they will pursue you. Now, snatch this pebble from my hand.

Note that just because Tuesdays aren't 'official' until 8 PST, some of us may be on closer to 8 EST...

Second note: I find it funny that every time I finally break down and hop on a pub server, within 20 minutes there are always a couple of other Goodjers onboard. I should start playing in an empty Annex and see if that still works.

It's nice to finally get some organized games together. This way we may be able to pool enough of the few TF2 players into a decent game. Hopefully there's still enough people interested in the game to get at least a half-full server a few times a week...

EDIT: Hehe, sometimes I forget that I'm not going to be ridiculed for proper spelling and punctuation here.

Capitalize!

MACH2 was pretty good or at least I have had fun with it.

No matter how hard we try; WCGN doesn't seem to want to die. There's just enough of us to keep it alive ... apparently.

But not quite enough of us to get together regularly. I think we need to rent a type-A personality who will tell us what and when to play.

Nice to see some re-organization!
I'll have to switch my TF2 night from Tuesdays to Mondays, but I think that will work.
Yay!
