YOU.ARE.WRONG!

Your punishment shall be five lashes of a ponycorn tail!

I'm afraid Shalalm Baskur wins that award. I'd say this thread wins the WaFTotY (Warm and Fuzzy Thread of the Year) award, though.

As the drunken bastard responsible for that, I have to say I agree with everything you said, Tuffalo.

I've been wondering where all the Shalalm Baskur stuff comes from and what it means. I've seen it all over the threads, didn't know there was a whole thread for it.

Ha! You missed out.

Ok ok ... so I forgot about the drunken ramblings and the ponycorns. I will put my vote in for the warm and fuzzy thread of the year

As for it being a thing, who knows. It just sounded good

If it's not, it needs to be a thing now.

After reviewing what I've missed, you're absolutely right. The best that trichy can hope for with this thread is WaFTotY.

Sounds like someone's trying to ditch some "warm and fuzzy" memories of their own.

Paypal donation has been sent! I'm so happy to have the opportunity to be a part of this awesome event!!

Sent an email* to get myself added to the map - can't wait to see the big reveal.

*Sorry if you get two emails - I have no idea if the first one went through or not.

The unveiling was a huge success! I'll post video later (assuming it came out okay), but the boys are unbelievably excited. Sunday, I'm spending a few hours with Liam while he builds his computer.

Liam has already begun reading the GameMaker book.

Aden was tremendously excited about his new Kindle. He hasn't set it down yet.

Awesome!

Damn dust. *sniff*

Whee! So cool.

Most awesome!

So I got there, and we left all the equipment in my car. We had dinner, while Liam and Aden told me about the new schools they're attending. After dinner, they showed me some stuff in their room while Jen and my sister unloaded the equipment and piled it on the kitchen table. A few weeks ago, Liam asked me how much it would be to build a gaming PC, and so today I told him that I'd priced the parts that he would need. As the price went up, his face fell, and he shrugged, saying, "Oh, well."

I then told him that I'd asked some people on Gamers With Jobs if they had some spare components. He followed me into the kitchen, as did Aden. They turned the corner and found the pile of generosity. Liam was absolutely stunned, and didn't say anything for a bit. Aden went slightly berserk, jumping around the living room squealing. The Kindle was a massive hit. When I left, Aden was curled up on an easy chair working his way through the first chapter of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

After the initial excitement died down, I logged Liam into his Steam account on my computer, and let him see the massive list of games that Goodjers donated. Finally, I brought up Ravenwood Castle's website, and told them they were going there on vacation. I think that finally broke through the shock, and a massive smile popped onto his face and didn't leave for the rest of the evening. When we called it a night, he was sitting at the kitchen table reading the GameMaker book that DanB donated, chewing on a pencil, and occasionally reaching out and touching some of the boxes. I don't think he's fully convinced this is all real.

It's worth noting that my mom was there to see this too. My mom is an amazing woman who just celebrated her 1 year survivor anniversary from a diagnosis of stage 3 breast cancer. I looked over at one point, and my mom and dad were sitting next to each other on the couch. She was smiling, and her cheeks were wet. I went over to see if she was okay, and she patted my hands and told me, "You tell everyone who helped with this thank you. That's not nearly enough, but it's all I can think to say right now. This is one of the best things anyone's ever done for your sister."

Thank you, everyone. And Aden said to pass this image on:

So awesome!

We need pictures of the machine up and running and the boys gaming!

Yep, definitely pretty dusty in here...

I'm not ashamed to admit this made me cry.

Make that 2 of us! I'm sorry I missed it!

Hey, will Liam have internet access once the machine is set up? Because you know, there will be future steam sales with high gifting potential.

Yay! This has been a great year for this community. So cool.

Yes he will! My sister just moved into a new house (she got a position running the special education programs for Rutherford County), and my parents are providing cable and internet as a housewarming gift.

Your parents are awesome, trichy.

So cool. I'm just glad I could be a small part of it by gifting a game on his Steam account.

With this thread, Clocky's thread, and the massive gifting in the Steam sale thread, 2012 is the year of the community at GWJ. I am prouder than ever to call this my home on the internet.

Like I said, made my day. Thanks for the report, trichy.

This is amazing. I love this community so damn much.

Read through stuff a little more carefully now that I'm not on a mobile. Yeah, it's a bit dusty in my room.
