Some stand-alone screen shots have been released. A little better than what I was expecting!

Looks good, can't wait.

Ya, I'm actually missing this game. The first month or so we had with it was the most memorable gaming I've had in years.

I'll be real interested in how the final gameplay is. I, like many others, got a huge rush in the beginning, because survival was so hard. Then either I figured out that is wasn't, really; or the dangers were nerfed and it was a bit less fun.

I'm not sure that I'm going to like the stand-alone, but I've had such a great time so far I'm looking forward to finding out.

My only concern with this game is the time commitment. I could sit down and play the mod for hours and not even realize the time had passed. I've been trying to get away from games like that because of other time commitments in my life but I think I'll just try to control myself on this one.

Spoiler:

yeah right.

I've been having a great time on the CKW Panthera server. The admins are pretty active so if hacks rear their ugly head, it's taken care of pretty quickly (most of the time).

Was on one day with 32ish on the server... Everyone was dying pretty regularly. So frustrating, and yet so fun.

So it looks like everyone is doing well since I took my sabatical. Hoped on DayZ last night and found a low pop server. Although I never died to hacking I enjoyed the time and with the new element of having to navigate Ships that had been randomly placed all over the map?

Pretty funny story from last night. After getting frustrated with not being able to find the first piece of loot after about 2 hours on War Z I decided to hop on DayZ. It had been at least 2 months since the last time I played and I had forgotten most of the controls. I also managed to get on a server that was at night. Once I finally figured out how to get my flashlight working I started working my way away from the coast when I saw a red chemlight pop up about 800m in front of me. I headed towards it, crawled under a wall, and there stood someone with a Lee Enfield. He wasn't looking at me, but I didn't have a weapon, so I couldn't do anything with him. I tried to remember how to enter into the side chat since I forgot to plug in my mic, but I couldn't remember how to. He turned around and saw me while I was trying to find the way to enter the chat. He stood there looking at me without shooting me, so I rolled back and forth, hoping that would show him I was friendly. After about 30 seconds of doing that, he shot me in the head and killed me. LOL

lol welcome back to DayZ

Definitely looks interesting

I read that they changed the way clothes protect you since there are snowy areas in it as well

Is anyone going to be on in like 3 hours or so? (5 pm est)

Wanting to play but I really am sick of soloing.....no fun

I am on currently for a few hours for anyone who is interested.

Called it a night, I was able to work my way up to stary sabor for the first time tonight. Inside a large barn, I found a man that had lost the battle to zombies. After 30+ zombie kills I can say that I am the owner of an AS50 and lots of AKM ammo. Best time I have had so far, just wish I could have shared it with a buddy or something.

Getting on tonight. If anyone else plans to, let me know.

The Survivor Gamez 'happened' on Sunday. Everyone spent hours getting set up in a semi circle around some tents. They started the games once but, five minutes in, everyone red chained. They decided to try a restart and everyone was ported by admins to one spot. One player had been disposing of a grenade when the teleport happened and it went off in the crowd. Everyone had to regather. They lined up facing the tents and started the games again. Everyone yellow and red chained. People were invisible, teleporting or running on the spot. They shut the server down and went home.

Hahaha that's funny. I watched Sacriel's highlights of the stream on YouTube and it looked pretty cool, but he only had the first attempt at it. I guess it never happened lol would've been very entertaining I'm sure.

Server leaked out before hand and was DDOSed during the event.

The problem with steaming these events is that the server evetually does get out. Like the first one that Lirik won. Honestly the best way to do it might be to message all invloved and not do it live and just have them record it all. But in the end there is no way to completly keep it quite I guess.

What time do you usually play Mountaineer?

I'm usually on by 8:30 EST. I try to be on earlier, but it doesn't always work out.

I think my steam idea is the same as my forum name "SniPeZ-" go ahead and add me so we can arrange a meeting online. When I am on I am in ventrillo while im playing.

There's a whooooolllle lot of those lol

My ID is MountaineerWR27 if you want to add me; should be a little easier to find lol

I haven't been getting on Vent when I play but I think I'm going to start, that way I don't have to spam this thread every time I plan on playing lol

I sent you an invite

If anyone plays Lingor Island, I have been playing on a pretty fun private server that I found about a week ago. It spawns you in a random location on the map (none of that spawning-on-the-coast-everytime crap) and your starting inventory changes based on where you spawn (I think). In the week I have been playing, I have spawned in three competely different regions of the map and with completely different gear. The first time I spawned, I started with a CZ 550, NVG, food, water, and a few utility items (watch, compass, and map I think). I ended up dying in a sniper battle in Calamar about an hour later, but I had a lot of fun. The second time, I spawned with the usual stuff, but with 2 bandages and painkillers instead of 1. That character lasted until last night, when I got shot by a guy in a group I ran across trying to get food from an animal so I could get my blood up. Now I'm lying somewhere in the middle of the map with a crossbow, map, gps, and some other stuff I can't remember. I plan on ditching that crossbow asap but it should be interesting until then.

I'm going to start playing on the CKW servers with Redhwk in the next day or two. From what he and others have said they are a good group maybe you could jump on and play too.

Don't believe I've heard of those

Is this official release play testing, or another island release?

That map was just released today with DayZ commander. Played for a few hours today. It pretty good! Very creepy map not too mention if you go up the mountains you actually get really cold and such. Heatpacks are actually useful now! In any case its pretty fun map so far and not that gltichy too!

Thanks for the link. Do I have to be a member of the site in order to access the server?

Ok I'll have to give it a shot sometime then. I'll post the Lingor Island sever I play on when I get a chance to look it up in case anyone wants to join.
