With those parentheses, I'd say Lisp. Not enough {} or $ for perl.

Whelp, after a Google image search, a font pack download, and three hours in Photoshop (yes, I'm that terrible), here it is:

AbsurdDoctor, you are a big blue monster. =) I already received one from tuffalo and gave it away to some poor other sucker curious lad. Maybe I should just accept my fate and fire this up with my five-year-old daughter. Have you guys had experience with playing it with someone so young? Or is it just too grindy to test her patience?

Hah! I fooled you all. By adding myself to the Gamers with Ponies group, I have managed to avoid having anyone think I need to own this game.

Edit: [em]Curse you, muttonchop![/em]

Reddit is going crazy for ponycorns too.

I have 'played' the game with my 3 year old and 4 year old sitting on my lap. I work the arrow keys in the mini-events, and the mouse, they take turns clicking on things that launch the mini-games.

They enjoy watching the pony 'do stuff', and they also like grooming them and caring for them (using the stethoscope, choosing which potions to mix, etc.).

YMMV, but it's a fairly fun/benign together game.

I had to start a new game cause I didn't understand the arrow minigame when I was making horse shoes. So I have now played through the point of getting all the unicorn's stats to above 100/100 and to getting a second horse. My daughter and son were my co-pilots. I didn't try to gender role the game for them, but my daughter seemed much more interested. At the same time, he's younger with less attention span. Who knows.

When does the horse level up exactly?

The other fun part of this game was explaining that we needed a mommy horse and a daddy horse to make new baby horses. Thankfully details of this operation were not an area of inquiry.

Sometimes your horse will have a little gold heart icon on the bottom bar. I think they need to be happy and also trained up a bit before this happens. Get two horses like that, plus an empty stable slot, and you can get them to make a horse baby.

Wait, they have to be happy BEFORE breeding? I've been doing it wrong all these years, I usually feel happy AFTER.

......

I'll show myself out.

It seemed like a good follow up to Risen!

You have to be so careful what you say :). Fortunately I've had measles ponies so I'm safe... for now.

Luckily, if you 'redo' the mini game straight away, you don't waste any of your pink aenus ingots. I had the same problem with strawberries when I was mixing magic potions.

Spoiler:

Did I really just type that?

Yup, had a similar experience with my 3 year old today. Who would have thought that a fun joke would actually be a great way to spend time with our kids and teach them about video games at the same time.

Guys, it's just copper. Latin really is dead. I just can't bear to have this game sullied any further!
Also it needs a real money auction house. I have a bucket I need to sell.

From Wiki (so it must be true). url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeneus_(of_Aenus)

In Greek mythology, Aeneus (Greek: Αἰνεύς) was the legendary founder of the ancient Thracian city of Aenus (also called Poltyobria or Poltymbria). He was the father of Cyzicus. He is sometimes confused with the famous legendary hero Aeneas, due solely to the similarity in spelling. Aeneus' parentage has been given as Apollo and Stilbe, daughter of the Thessalian river-god Peneus. This would make Aeneas the brother of Lapithes and Centaurus, the founders of the ancient Lapith and Centaur tribes in Thessaly. However, this Aeneus may have been intended as the eponymous founder of the Aenianes, another Thessalian tribe, and may not be the same as the founder of the Thracian city of Aenus. Given that the ancient city of Cyzicus was said to be founded by Thessalians, this Thessalian Aeneus may have been intended as the father of the mythical person named Cyzicus, founder of the city of the same name.
Spoiler:

Aenus and peneus? Is that why they say going the Greek is.... Never mind.

I wish it had mod support.
Any (recent) .Net/mono developers know how painful it would be to hook into the framework and redirect resource calls to a different set of resource files?

Took me a whole stable of horses to figure it out, but I believe you need to have two horses maxed out (above 100) in addition to winning all the races for their level. Then once you breed the two together, the offspring should be one level higher.

Mrs. Dim, after being read parts of this thread: "Maybe Gamers With Jobs is really made up of 11-year-old girls and you just didn't notice this whole time?"

Hate to burst yer bubble, but Αἰνεύς would be pronounced "eh NEFS" (according to my very Greek wife) which sounds nothing at all like the joke pronunciation of Uranus (which is also a Greek work, as in the Greek word for "sky", which is pronounced "oo rah NOHS" )

Also, if something in Greek starts or ends in "mp" it is pronounced as a "b"

Which means in Greek, it is NOT pronounced Mount Olympus,
rather "oh lee BOS" (Olympos)

So London is hosting the OhLeeBeeks. Not the Olympics.

I also love that you are including the wife in this thread discussion, I can only imagine the preamble that lead to your question

"Honey, I was playing this unicorn breeding game and now I have a question about Aenus."

Finally giving this a shot this morning. It's already made a good impression on me.

Option to run in a full-screen window? Oh yes.

Graphic settings? "Fantastic" level? Now we're talking.

I will no longer be happy with any future PC games unless there's a "Fantastic" graphics setting.

But... how do you get them to make a horse baby? HOW DO I MAKE MY PONIES F*CK?

Edit: Ohh, I see, you click on the heart itself. I'd clicked on that before and it did nothing, because I had no empty stable at the time.

I don't know about you guys but I'm playing this on "Fantastic" graphic quality.

I think something about my daughter waking us with "Daddy can we make ponycorns now?" this morning was probably my wife's first clue that something was ahoof.

Spoiler:

YEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So I think I should let you guys know that I contacted Artery Studios and made them aware of our thread and our Steam group. Not sure if they're watching though, because I'm sure Reddit has caught a lot of their attention. They said they're thrilled about the sales even though many bought it as a gag gift or for achievements, but they hope to actually convert some people into players(Which looking at this thread has happened and you've all surprised me). They said that some guys invited them to do a Steam chat, so on Tuesday afternoon they're going to have an open Steam chat session so that they can answer any questions people have and ask people about possible updates and a sequel they've been planning for years.

EDIT: Also, these guys apparently created a bunch of assets for NFS: Hot Pursuit, Witcher 2, and Driver: San Francisco
