Steam Summer Sale 2012 Gift-All

I've seen Heroes VI come up a couple times in this thread. While I haven't actually sunk any time into it, it seems like a good time to buy since they've finally rolled out monthly patches for the last few months and the next one is slated for 7/12.

I doubt Ubisoft is timing their next Heroes patch for a Steam sale.

I think the original 7/12 date was sourced back on SPUF to some offhand comment made by the people who did Cubemen, but I couldn't find the original slip up.

Just give sh*t away.

We can't give you gifts Cragmyre, you own it all already

I need to change my nick from Cragmyre to SteamJr

At this point I've got waaay too many games to play. I'm probably just going to keep giving away awesome indie games to deserving forum-dwellers.

Ok, instead of a weekend deal, we get Pyro video. Steam sale tomorrow!!!

Words cannot describe how excited I am... so I present this:

OFFICIAL: NO STEAM SALE THIS SUMMER

God damn it. I was going to buy my brother some birthday presents. :(

Hah! I saw through your ploy. I still clicked, but I knew what I was going to see.

(I'm pretty sure you've nailed me other times, but that was just too obvious. )

I never ask for any games from anyone, and I never give any away. I'm like the Republican of gamers.

Also, I am going on a family Disney cruise starting on Saturday. Please note the joy when I found you can use the iPhone app to participate in the sale.

I'm actually pretty good on games right now. My pile is so big the games will have to play themselves at this point.

Wish List:
$20:
CODBLOPS (Because that is the lowest that game will ever go)
Max Payne 3 (unlikely, and I can wait)

$15:
Witcher 2
Assasin's Creed Revelations
Anno 2070
Walking Dead
Crysis 2
Wargame: European Escalation
Torchlight 2 (only 25% off, but still unlikely)
The random game I didn't know I wanted until it was marked to this ridiculously low price

$10
GalCiv 2
Warlock - Master of the Arcane
Arkham City (Already own the Origin version)
Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai
That niche title that I would have never considered but I justified the price as 2 Starbucks Mochas

$5
World in Conflict
The crappy "Why the hell not?" title
That game I need a fifth copy of

I like how this is said, but then Budo lists about 15+ games he's willing to buy at specific prices. Ah, the true spirit of Steam sales

Seriously, if you need enabling on this, go for it. I was playing this way back when it was in alpha and for quite a while after it was released. It's one of my favourite games of all time and even the singleplayer is really good. Even jumping into a skirmish match and playing against bots is rewarding. It's a great game and I'd even pay $10 if I didn't already have it on steam. I have both the boxed and steam versions it's that good!

My wishlist:
$15:
Sins: Rebellion

$10:
AssCreed: Revelations
Fable 3
Skyrim (maybe $15)
Shogun 2
Gods and Kings (not bloody likely)
Torchlight 2

$5.00:
Quantum Conundrum
The Walking Dead
Heroes 6
Jade Empire

$2.50:
Fable the Lost chapters
Warlock: Master of the Arcane
Analogue: A Hate Story
Ys games
From Dust
Borderlands

I already own it. Loved it. Hence, the $5 tag.

For those looking forward to starting Day Z, like me, I present this wonderfully enlightening and tense video by our own Grubber788.

Are you guys seriously expecting to find Skyrim for under $20?

As popular as it still is, I'd say $29.99 at best. Still a helluva deal.

Oh, thanks for pimping that!

I apologize for how much I trail off whenever I get distracted. It's also a shame the video got clippy toward the end.

I'm hoping Street Fighter IV AE is $10 or less. Missed the sale on Amazon last weekend.

I'm with you. I'm also hoping SFxTekken gets a big one-day discount. Given the reported sales troubles combined with its newness, it seems pretty likely.

After a lot of soul searching I'm hoping for Shogun 2 + DLC and/or Crusader Kings 2 for under $10. I haven't got hooked on a good strategy war game in long time. I'll be flexing my cheapskate muscles on most everything else by letting them wait for another day, barring ridiculous prices or grotesque enabling in this thread.

QFT.

I waited on Fallout 3...it took a long time to break $20.

The more I read about Crusader Kings 2 in the dedicated thread for that game, the higher my price threshold for it goes. $10 would be an insta-buy. I'd probably top out at $15 right now though, give the absurd size of my pile. EU 3 is another one I'm eyeing closely. I've been scared of Paradox games for far too long.

I only delved into them a few months ago. Lots of stuff to understand and it can overwhelm (I rage uninstalled EU3 twice), but totally worth it if you are willing to put the time into learning. Paradox has bonker deals all the time, so you will surely get a good price this sale season.

You so crazy.

Spoiler:

That makes the distrubing overtone that much more tense. I was literally calling you names, but worrying about your digital life, since you decided to put yourself into such great risk. Walking around in the open, in a roguelike, with lag; you were asking for death!

Yeah, that's why I ultimately quit. I heard someone speaking Russian in town not 15 minutes earlier and that military hospital could have been where he was heading.

Spoiled for lack of thread relevance:

Spoiler:

I should add something to that video explaining what happened afterward.

- Went back to the server an hour later, still at the military camp.
- Traveled north to the airfield and found a bicycle!
- Traveled west to the other airfield (military)
- Climbed the ATC tower, saw a heavily armed survivor running away from the hangers toward the tower (and my bike)
- Shot him, forcing him to go down. He then suffered death by zombies.
- I found a military grade sniper rifle and Makarov with tons of ammo.
- Fled the airfield and traveled for a bit.
- Climbed a deer stand, broke my legs. No morphine to fix it.
- Got back on my bike (with broken legs no less) and went back to the airfield to try to find morphine.
- Gunned down ~50 zombies before finally being overwhelmed and killed.
- C'est la vie. Like I said in the video, there are no happy endings in DayZ.

ok, I am really hoping for BIG discounts on
LOTR:war in the north,
batman arkham bundle,
saints row 3,
kingdoms of amalur,
rage,
darksiders,
alan wake
and witcher 2

something like a 75-80% would get me going for sure

I keep forgetting this game even exists ...

The game is discounted to sub 5 USD almost every other day. Look out for "Is it any good?" meme in Video Game Deals thread, as nobody lists it under the real name anymore.

Re: Skyrim, it's been at the $25-30 mark a few times already.

doh

Wish I could have seen that video. I kept waiting for you to die.

No doubt, keep rolling!

Either Valve has managed to keep this sale under wraps and our games will start updating after the sale starts or this sale is in fact starting July 12.

Or, there's no big Summer Sale this time?
