Steam Summer Sale 2012 Gift-All

I doubt it starts today with the Meet the Pyro update happening later today. My guess is tomorrow.

One of the best things about these sales are how we pay it forward. I'm happy to be a part of this community.

I have copies of Terraria and Dungeon Defenders hanging out in my inventory. Is anyone's threshold on either of these titles $0?

Just to enable, those are two of my favorite games from last year.

Interesting, Dungeon Defenders was my least favorite game of the last 12 months. Played two levels as the mage, played another one as the warrior, yawned and never fired it up again. I like both tower defense games and action RPGs, but DD seemed to do neither very well.
Maybe it's a lot better when playing it co-op, but as a single player experience, there isn't much to see there.

It was most definitely designed for co-op, and, while I played it both on PC and 360, I preferred the 360 version because I could sit on the couch with my kids and we could play it together. We had a glorious time. I did play a lot single-player, but that's after I was already hooked by the co-op aspects of it.

I agree with that. As a single player game Dungeon Defenders is a boring grindfest. As a multiplayer game Dungeon Defenders is a super fun strategy team based tower defense. It was my favorite co-op experience of last year, and the best one I've had in a while.

OFFICIAL: NO STEAM SALE THIS SUMMER

God damn it. I was going to buy my brother some birthday presents.

WTH, is GabeN's vault of gold coins running over or what madness is this?! O.O

Guess I'll just pack this thread up. Nothing to see here.

I can't believe you guys have talked this much without the sale starting. I foresee this thread beating the TF2 thread if this keeps up once the sale starts (if.....)

Yep, just toss it out with the kitty litter.

If it wasn't for this thread, how would Valve know WHAT and HOW MUCH to mark items down?

We were on page 16 of the Steam Summer Sale 2011 by the time the sale started. Let's see if we can do better this time!

Well, we're already halfway there.

That or "two weeks".

Same issue here. Aside from the game being awkward with a keyboard & mouse, I always felt that I could much more easily pop into a game of LoL instead. Maybe I need to play DD co-op, but I had the same initial impression.

The special Hell.

...you know, for breaking the news.

Agreed, didn't really like DD or Orcs must die, two highly rated games that I picked up during the winter sale. A good lesson for the future, though.

Same here, which is odd considering how much I tend to like tower defense games.

I needed a good chuckle (4am start and a headache). Thanks, Lobster.

I think I'm the only person happy with this development!

Eh? Craving for a warm bowl of milk or something? :-p

I will be happy if they have Crusader Kings 2.

Beyound that Civ 5 - Gods and Kings, would be nice.

I understand DD as it turns into a loot-grind, almost as bad as an MMO.

But OMD is just focused, orc-slaying awesomeness. And there's a sequel coming.

All these Dungeon Defender haters...play the co-op!

Yeah, DD was turned into a disappointment by loot and level grinding. OMD was awesome.

However I can see where they could loose appeal. Both are Tower Defense/Action game hybrids. Were most TD offer up on the high end of strategy and planning, both DD and OMD required more involvement in a battle to win.

I confess: having read that it would run on my laptop, I'd be tempted by a good price on Legend of Grimrock.

S'what I'm here for.

That's really what I'm hoping for. I'm a bit of a Steam grazer, I'll pick up anything going for cheap that looks neat or has good reviews. But LoG has been on my mind for a while. Need to scratch my Eye of the Beholder itch.

I never thought about buying this for the PC... Interesting... My kids would love it but my XBox is a little twitchy lately so I haven't been buying any games for it. Anyone know if it plays well on PC? If I get a X360 controller wireless dongle for the PC can I run 4 controllers through it? Or do I need 4 dongles for 4 controllers?

I've got an extra dongle laying around if you want it. Just PM me your address, and I'll be glad to send it on!

If the rumors are true that the sale starts on July 12th, you should be good.

What rumors? The best guess is that it starts tomorrow, based on the past two years.

It's been mentioned in this thread a few times already.

I see HOMM VI at some point in my future, but I don't think I'll go crazy like I did last year.

I've seen Heroes VI come up a couple times in this thread. While I haven't actually sunk any time into it, it seems like a good time to buy since they've finally rolled out monthly patches for the last few months and the next one is slated for 7/12. Also, there's an add-on in the works now too. So that's promising, even if it took them a while to rotate in some fresh devs to support the game (Black Hole was taken off the project shortly after launch which was part of the hold-up on getting patches made)

Starting to think those who say the sale wont happen this week are right. I havent seen any leaks yet on stuff Steam has thrown into games to go with the sale. Usually that breaks a week before the sale, this time I dont see any of that.

Considering a lot of folks think its going to start tommorow I would have thought that steam update would have hit by now.

I'm tempted to agree.

I hope the sale lands before or after PDXLAN (July 13-16), especially if there are achievements with attached prizes. I don't want to have to choose between long hours of MP/co-op games and getting free stuffs.
