Steam Summer Sale 2012 Gift-All

Yeah it went back on steam a few months ago thanks to Crytek. EA was specifically left out of the mention. They turned it into a version containing all downloadable content and called it the " Maximum Edition."

This is a version that includes all the DLC, so there's no option to go outside of steam and buy stuff. That was where the fight centered.

I think once they released all the DLC they brought it back on Steam as Crysis 2 Complete or something. The whole point was they wanted to connect with sell DLC direct to, their customers, without Steam getting in the way or some nonsense.

Why hello there Witcher 2 for $16. Yoink!

$40 total so far.

So far my cart is bulging with Skyrim, Auditorium, Fable the Lost Chapters, and Audiosurf. Price is a total of:$41.76 Now I have 9 dollars left till I reach my stopping limit. Also I gotta empty my drive that holds steam since I only have 9 gigs left.

Oh well at least that's more than the 831 mb left on the operating systems hard drive. Now I just gotta find out how to move stuff to my Terrabyte drive I got for Christmas.

I'm really thinking hard on Skyrim, it is the one game I want to get out of this sale but I'm not sure 50% is going to be the lowest during this sale and I'm a cheap collage student, I take the lowest price. Should I just go ahead and get it at 30 or wait out the next few days to see if it goes lower?

I also suspect if I pass now there should be one more chance to get it at this deal price before the event ends.

I keep looking at my Wishlist to see if any of my games I want are super cheap and only six of them are fix and under five and there are 23 games on my wishlist. For a sale I seem to be in the wrong section for the flash sales and great discounts. Then again it is only day 3.

I doubt it will go lower, and it is a gamble that it will hit this price again.

Also, if you plan on playing it soon (like in the next few months before it goes on sale again) I think it is MORE than worth the money.

As a wise & sexy Goodjer predicted, and I quote,

Are you guys seriously expecting to find Skyrim for under $20?

As popular as it still is, I'd say $29.99 at best. Still a helluva deal.

I picked it up a few days after it was released and after an hour kicked myself for not buying it on day one. If anyone is holding out for a cheaper deal on Skyrim, you might save 5 bucks by Christmas, but instead just skip a crappy Subway sandwich and buy this today.

Everything I've bought on the steam summer sale so far has been funded completely by the Diablo 3 auction house. I still have $10 to go. We'll see what comes up next.

Edit: If you haven't played Borderlands, $5 is a really good deal. If I didn't already have it on 360, I'd be all over it.

Dude, get it anyway. It's way, way better on a decent PC.

YOu know, it's tempting, but there are so many things on my steam list that I haven't played yet, and I really don't think I want to sit through the grind again.

Other than Alan Wake and Dead Island I haven't spent over 5 bucks on any one item this sale. Hopefully I can escape this sale with spending less than 75 bucks total for a change.

I think currently I am around 50 total spent.

Ah Steam you naughty temptress! Made some purchases to add to the list of never played games:

Dead Island
Witcher 2
Frozen Synapse
Terraria
Sanctum
Shogun 2

I find that I'm almost becoming more of a game collector than a gamer. I have so many games that I haven't even played let alone completed but there's something wierdly satsifying to know that if I ever wanted (and had time) to play them they're right there waiting for me!

Oh by the way, I have an extra copy of Frozen Synapse and no one on my friends list has it on their wish list. Any takers? Also, my friends list is sadly tiny, could use some of you guys on it!

Update: Frozen synapse claimed by Balthezor!

I have managed to stay clean so far, except for a gift present of Anno 2070 to orphu (a belated bday present even!).

Lots of temptation. Dead Island for $10? Witcher 2 for $16? You don't say.

Hell, Cave Story is $6. The free one was awesome. I should get that just to support the developer!

Are the Prima guides decent with Steam? I assume you can open and search it from within the game. And the Prima guides do cover EVERYTHING, right?

You don't want a guide you have to pay for, you want the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages.

What's the etiquette on not accepting gifts? I love that people are so generous, but I'm pretty time poor and I'd rather see games that I'm not sure I'll be interested in go to someone who will definitely enjoy them.

I believe you can accept them as gift copies as well to regift.

I would prefer if people I gift to, if they don't want it that they re-gift it to a friend.

Anyone know if you have a couple of games in your steam cart, does that lock in the sale price?

Generally, I think it's best to just decline it.

Thanks goes out to Cragmyre and hbi2k for Orcs Must Die! It was the only game that may have swayed me today for the price, and I wound up with two copies before I even made it home. hbi, I returned yours as I didn't even realize I had two when I saw the first.

L4D2 has been tempting me for the last few sales, but I'll wait til it's on a daily before deciding whether to bite this time. Tropico and Borderlands are in the same boat, but I can't see me biting this time around.

Thanks to docjoe for Frozen Synapse! I will enjoy this greatly!

Ok; I bit on the Witcher 2 at that price. So my damage so far is.

Ys Origin
From Dust
Trine 2
Crusader Kings Islam
Grimlock
Witcher 2

So; just under $40. I'm still under what I have budgeted for the sale but as with other sales I'll likely cave and go over. ><

I'm seeing Fray in the flash deals section, but I'm not sure that's right. It's only 25% off and clicking through to the store page it's not labeled as a flash deal. Anyone else seeing this?

You can always decline, and then message the person thanking them, and suggesting a gift target.

Try this template:

Dear Fellow Goodjer,

While it tickles me in places I didn't know I had that you thought enough of me to gift me a copy of (insert game name), I unfortunately must decline.

Due to time constraints, I couldn't possibly get to that title until Saint Swithens Day 2014.

If you still find yourself in need of a gift recipient for (insert game name), then please feel free to forward the gift to Mateogwj, who I understand likes that sort of thing.

Shalam Baskur,
The Chairman

Let me know how that works out!

Since Cragmyre beat me to the punch and peedmyself is the only one on my friends list who had it on his wish list, I now have an extra copy of Orcs Must Die free to the first non-coffee-grinder to claim it!

did the same. Wanted the game for 20$, they give it to me for 16$.. Yoink indeed my friend!

Edit : Now, I just want Age of Empire 3 to be 10$.. (If I wish hard, they will offer for less, right?)

Thanks for your input guys. Good to see you get to give a response when you decline.

I see it as 50% off.

I've got that in my cart now, but if you want to send it my way , I'd be very appreciative!

Edit: double post

First: Thank you misplacedbravado for Frozen Synapse Red, you magnificent juglans regia, you!

Second: Buy both Witcher games, for the love of all that is holy. I don't buy into hype either, but I enjoyed both games immensely. They're the best kind, the games you keep thinking about even while you're not playing. I already have the GOG version of TW2, and I'm such a dweeb that I will end up buying the Steam version just to ensure that more developers make games of this quality.

You're doing it right.
