Steam Summer Sale 2012 Gift-All

Games are generally delisted from the store when they run out of keys (Prey) or the publisher pulls it for some reason. I'm not aware of a game once bought being removed from an account besides if there was fraud involved.

Like others have commented, I have such a giant backlog of really great games to play that I doubt I'll pick up much this year. I said that last year, though. I am keeping my top 10 wish list populated with full price titles, on the assumption that they'll do some giveaways again this year.

Prey was due to lack of keys? I thought it was due to music licenses expiring. However, given Zenimax has reissued Quake 4 and Doom 3, I would expect them to re-issue Prey once they get Prey 2 straightened out.

I am not planning to buy anything, but if a good deal on a game comes along on a game that I've been thinking about...I'll prolly buy it for no reason. Maybe Civ V, Warlock...who knows...

Anyway, I really enjoyed Bulletstorm, people should play that!

I think my random summer RPG is going to be Neverwinter Nights 2, although apparently I need to buy a box copy. Is there no good direct download site that has this? (gamersgate, steam, origin, and gog...none of them carry it.)

Strange, I bought the complete NWN collection on Gamersgate just a few weeks ago in a sale and cannot find it in store anymore. Probably got pulled for some strange reason. Same case with D&D complete collections (Baldurs Gates et al., great collection)

The only thing I'm hoping for is Skyrim under 20 bucks.

Huh. I'm guessing there's a licensing squabble going on. NWN2 is definitely off Steam but the trailers still exist.

GOG still has NWN1, Baldur's Gate, etc.

It is indeed a mystery. I remember NWN2 being on steam for something likw $15 for the whole collection, but now...

I must go online and after about 5 minutes of clicking and typing arrange to have someone deliver the game to my door by Friday. What a hassle.

I'd advise against buying Grabthar's Hammer; right now, there are some really attractive leasing options you should look into.

I see HOMM VI at some point in my future, but I don't think I'll go crazy like I did last year.

I've seen Heroes VI come up a couple times in this thread. While I haven't actually sunk any time into it, it seems like a good time to buy since they've finally rolled out monthly patches for the last few months and the next one is slated for 7/12. Also, there's an add-on in the works now too. So that's promising, even if it took them a while to rotate in some fresh devs to support the game (Black Hole was taken off the project shortly after launch which was part of the hold-up on getting patches made)

I don't have much time to play games these days, but Steam sale games are a possibility, as my fiance won't notice the new boxes and yell at me about buying stuff.

I'll probably pick up Arkham City and Gemini Rue. Aside from those two, I don't think I have any interest in anything on Steam.

-Gemini Rule and that's me. I just bought Arma 2 a few weeks ago, and DotP 2013, so my PC purchases for the year are fulfilled until AC3. I might also jump on the latest Magicka DLC if it comes up, but mostly I'm just watching for Arkham City.

Pardon me if I'm filthily skimming this thread, but perchance did this conversation produce dragons engaged in sexual intercourse with automobiles, in a fashion such as the one prevalent yesteryear?

sign me up for the Pelican Scratcher. is there a beta?

Is that a pelican scratcher in your pocket or are you just excited about the steam sale?

It's a bit early, but give it a few days.

I picked it up for $12.49 a couple of months ago and had a great time with it. I'm surprised more Goodjers haven't played this past the demo.

I remember it feeling a bit stale.

It's too soon for it, but nevertheless I'm hoping for a SoaSE Rebellion sale.

Maq, if you cave on item 2, I'll help you eat that cottage cheese. Mmmmm pineapple!

I'm surprised at how little I want. Maybe it's because my laptop is nearing its death by obsolesence but it's mostly indie and older stuff with very little in the way of heavy graphics and so on.

What we need is a script to scrape the Steam libraries of everyone in this thread who says they're not interested in anything or don't plan to buy anything. We can then re-scrape it at the end of the sale to see who ended up caving to what.

Pfft, if I cave I will post. Probably toss in some whine and/or my well-developed sense of self-deprecating humor. For cheap!

On second thought I think I will wait until Pelican Scratcher 2. I have read that the scratching mechanic in the original is iffy at best and I am hoping they add the ability to fondle.

Well, I know I'll buy some random stuff just because it's cheap and I want that warm, fuzzy, consumerist glow for a few minutes, but there's not a lot I'm really actively looking for. I'll undoubtedly take a few shots at random indie things that look vaguely interesting, but I'm just not PC gaming much lately as the 360 is clearly such a superior gaming platform these days.

*flees thread immediately*

I'm with tboon. I know I'm going to cave, so I don't even *pretend* that I'll spend all my time in the sunshine ignoring the sale.

I would be very interested in seeing this too.

The reason I say I'm going to buy little to nothing is not a matter of money or the pile or what not, it's entirely a matter of my already owning everything due to past summer sales. I'm sure there will be fantastic deals on tons of games, but it matters not if I already own them all. PC game releases can't keep up with these sales, there's just not enough new stuff out every year to buy 5-10 titles at each sale, particularly since Steam does this twice a year.

If Rebellion went on sale, I'd probably get that too, even though I haven't played Trinity for more than 30 minutes. I just can't resist the siren call of the idea of SoaSE.

I'm in the group of people that have too large a pile, and all I've been playing for the last few months is Blood Bowl and Football Manager. I'm sure I'll cave on an item or two myself, plus the wife wants some Popcap-type stuff and I need to gift a couple of things.

And here I thought I had finally exponged that memory from my head.... Thanks....

Shall we lay odds on how long it will take for someone to post one...

Oh and I too will take a dose of the "lets fool ourselves potion" and say I really dont see me spending a lot this year because there isnt anything on my wishlist I have to have.

i wonder if steam will accept direct deposit.... hum

If it's anything like previous steam sales, people will be falling over themselves to gloat about what they spent on, good games and shameful.

I'm holding out for a cheap (<$20) copy of Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition (because I'm annoyed by getting nickel & dimed by individually buying DLC); that's probably the only thing that would get me to cave.

I could be seduced by a ridiculously cheap Legend of Grimrock. Other than that, I'm full up on games, thank you very much!

Quite probably unrelated, but it looks like the long-awaited "Meet the Pyro" is being released on Wednesday

Probably not unrelated at all. Likely some big TF2 (or 2.5?) thing will open the sale, it looks like.

I believe we're halfway there already.

Just took a look at the Steam announcements feed from 2011 and 2010. Both years the sale started the last week of June, so there's a much higher chance (based on previous observations) that the sale starts this week.
