Steam Summer Sale 2012 Gift-All

Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day, give a man access to Steam summer sale and he'll forget that he's hungry.

Im looking at a $5 Grimrock, spacechem, maybe 50% Game of thrones and a 75% off the Capcom collection for my better half.
Oh and EA bury the war hatchet with Valve and release the whole back catalogue, pie in the sky but one can dream.

I'll do what I usually do, spread the love around.

It's pretty much what I've been doing for the last 2 months anyway lol! xD I really hope there isn't anything I really, really want.

You might want to update that wishlist anyway. If history repeats itself...

Oh, random giftings to my friends! Now I am looking forward to the sale, so far my reaction was "nah, the pile's humongous".

No, no, I can't accept any gifts. Especially when I can't afford to spread the love around myself xD Please don't take my post as an indirect plea for something like that because it really isn't :). Just me trying to look at my situation in a positive way

I wonder if Bohemia/Steam think it's a good idea to put Arma 2 on sale for like 10$. It seems to sell quite well as it is.

"When did I start to think the world had jumped the shark? Oh about when people started listing the games they were not going to buy during the imaginary sale that hadn't been announced."

Here's some things I'm not going to buy in a sale I'm not sure will exist:

1: A pelican scratcher
2: 12 metric tonnes of pineapple chunk cottage cheese
3: An audiobook version of The Wire narrated by Jonathan Dimbleby

The above post is rated (G) for "Good natured ribbing"

Your loss, I'll just sell my highly discounted pelican scratcher to someone else.

Oh, and if Skyrim dips below £10 I'm totes buying it.

I'd like to think there's someone on this site who "knows computers". Is there anything valve can do to stop their web servers melting for the 10 minutes around when they change the deals? It seems like the best they could do is change how they announce the deals, using other media.

I don't know, there is just such a massive spike in traffic for that 10 minutes every day when it changes. It might alleviate it a bit if they had a blog or something where they dropped the deals right at noon, that would be just text and maybe wouldn't crash anything.

That like first hour or so of the sale when things are really messed up, I don't know if they have to just run a ton of scripts or something to change the prices but it takes far too long to make that initial change over of all games.

When you're taking a break from that you should check out the Steam sale, maybe gift a few games

Looking at my wishlist and what I have on my plate to play currently (Sins, Civ V, Crusader Kings II, Bastion, Batman:AA, The Witcher 2), I don't see much that I feel I need this time around. Possibly a 50% off of the Civ V expansion or a 5 dollar Saint's Row The Third would get me to open my wallet. Though, spreading the love a couple times might be in order.

I prefer fun games to not fun. That's all. I played about fifteen minutes of Bulletstorm and that was quite enough.

I had to try three times on Bulletstorm. Twice, I stopped about where you did. The third time, I kept going, because other people were praising it so much.

They were right.

sign me up for the Pelican Scratcher. is there a beta?

Good to know lots of people will be jumping into the DayZ world soon!

Yeah, I think Cow Clicker comes with it.

For $4 I'd totally jump on Darksi ...... nevermind

The Walking Dead would be great to pick up for a few bucks off, other than that I think I'm good this time around.

I just don't know. Last Holiday sale I finally ran out of things that were "must-buy".
I wouldn't mind grabbing Heroes VI and Crusader Kings II, but I also know in my heart that they will just rot on the pile.

If they somehow release and discount Torchlight 2 for the Steam sale thus screwing anyone who pre-ordered, I would definitely pick that up :p

It's the same reason MMOs usually have capacity problems in their first days: it's far, far more expensive to buy servers that can handle 100% of the load 100% of the time than 100% of the load 99% of the time.

I love my signature.

Well, when you already own everything there's no real need to keep buying, even if there's still the urge. That's why Goodjers get so generous around Steam Sale time.

Any speculation on what silly game they'll do to link in with it this time? Would the TF2 thing be related, even if it's just one day's objective?

Personally I'm getting tired of scavenger hunts.

Dota 2! Get hats, etc!

I am not planning to buy anything, but if a good deal on a game comes along on a game that I've been thinking about...I'll prolly buy it for no reason. Maybe Civ V, Warlock...who knows...

Anyway, I really enjoyed Bulletstorm, people should play that!

I think my random summer RPG is going to be Neverwinter Nights 2, although apparently I need to buy a box copy. Is there no good direct download site that has this? (gamersgate, steam, origin, and gog...none of them carry it.)

If only there were an economist around to oversee all this madness..

That's weird. I have Neverwinter Nights 2. From Steam. It's in my games list but doesn't appear to be in the store anymore.

It happens to be installed on my home machine atm, but if I uninstalled it I wonder if I could download it again.

It looks like Sacred 2 has disappeared from the store as well. I know that it has previously been on sale and that other GWJers have purchased it because I was tempted even though I couldn't run it on my old machine. Maybe someone who owns either game can tell you if "removed games" can be redownloaded.

Jasonofindy wrote:

They can. I have a copy of Prey from previous sales and that app was removed a long time ago. I can still download and play it despite it no longer existing on the storefront.
