Steam Summer Sale 2012 Gift-All

I'm kinda disappointed that steam won't let me buy a 4-pack if you already own the game.

Stuff like that is exactly why I voted for it too.

Man! A few months ago I played for about an hour and then stopped. This story makes me want to pick Far Cry 2 back up.

TOO MANY GAMES!!!!!!111

Damn guys, you'd think I said vi was better than Emacs!

My experience with GFWL has been pretty easy. Then again, I don't buy many games that aren't on Steam, so my experience is limited.

YMMV, I suppose.

I had enough in my wallet for Arkham City or two discounted copies of Sanctum for my family. They got Sanctum.

I do, still, very much appreciate the time you guys took to offer advice, warnings and stories about the Batman games. Maybe if it comes up a third time, I'll finally cave. Your advice - especially the part about it being railsy - made it less frightening of an investment.

Mostly, though, thank you all for your help. It went noticed and appreciated.

They're still great games, and better on PC than console (I played the first one once on 360, then again on PC).

And who was it who had a wife/fiancee who liked puzzle-type games? Does she have Puzzle Agent yet?

I unearthed the answer. It's Dethroned's wife, CTBebop. And she now has a copy of Puzzle Agent.

Edit: Also, quick, sell me on Shoot Many Robots!

There are robots. Many of them. You shoot them.
:D

Where's that GIF of Orson Wells clapping? I think this is the appropriate context for that.

I'm surprisingly reasonable this time around.

Now the money's a bit ... harder to find these days but I've managed to keep my purchasing to an all time low.

Got Ys: the Oath in Feldana. Hopefully it's good

I will say that GTA 3 and Vice City are quality games. San Andreas is also supposed to be very good, but that's the only once since 3 that I haven't played. Add in the first two just for collection sake and I would say buy that shiz. I currently have San Andreas in my cart right now trying to decide on whether to grab it up or not.

Decisions decisions...

1. The ports are incredibly ropey.
2. RDR is apparently miles better then any of the GTAs.
3. That pack on sale for that price all the time; at least two or three times a year.
4. You already own it.
5. Your pile beckons.
(6. RDR is not on PC, for which Rockstar engenders my eternal scorn.)

Thanks for the feedback guys. I may pick it up at some point, but for now I think I'll pass and will just try to get my 360 copy of IV up and running in the future.

Thank you LilCodger for Dungeon Defenders! The masses will be appeased.

PKSebben tried to masquerade as the ENTIRE FORUM when he gifted me Costume Quest, but I saw through his disguise!

Thanks man, my Double Fine collection is now complete. It will only burn in my pile for a few hours.

Chairman Mao, thank you very much for Fractal!

Someone asked earlier, any thoughts on stronghold 3 gold?

I wasn't reading closely but the concensus seemed to be it and 2 were rather buggy. I think.

Thank you, momgamer! I've been wanting to play Toy Soldiers since it came out on XBL, and now I can.

Just beat Lara Croft. If it comes back on sale I recommend it (I might have said this before, I don't recall). If the DLC goes back on sale I plan on purchasing all of it. I can't imagine playing the game without a controller would be any fun though but it could be.

Is this for Garden of Light?

Yup. Guess that little bit of information might have helped I clocked in at 7 hours to beat the game. Lots of fun puzzles and challenges.

On another note, played about 30 minutes of Costume Quest so far and that's a lot of fun too! Unfortunately I'm too tired to play more but it might be my game of choice for a bit. Not sure how long it takes to beat but I feel ok neglecting the other games I've acquired for now.

BTW, gang, we made the front page.

I'm staring at the countdown timer for Rage and am slowly coming to the realization that I'd rather start another playthrough of Far Cry 2 than struggle through the masses of rushing melee creeps that seem to be a staple of iD games.

You know, I don't think I remember ever seeing a sale where this much gift giving has been done. I've said it before, and I will keep saying it, I'm glad to be a part of this community ( and look forward to the next pledge drive for I plan on having a little symbol under my name ).

And speaking of gift giving, I want to give my thanks to PKSebben for giving me Rage ( and not the bad kind ).

oh, I've sent you both. Just wait.

Just got a mighty chuckle, was doing some research for my "Copyright and Intellectual Property Class." EA talks about the Steam Sale. XD Gotta say Origin.... Steam sales might cheapen the IP in your eyes but from the past few days, I'm pretty sure their wishing they could have a piece of this magical pie where people buy 30 copies of a game to gift to their friends. =D

I'd say the Steam sale encourages or even enables the behavioral opposite to piracy--buying games you'll never play. Game developers and publishers can't think that's that bad a thing.

Just one more day to pay day and then I can spread some love.

Steam sales make me purchase niche games I wouldn't ordinarily buy. I also buy games to tool around with their mechanics, to play with the interface, to see what's fun and what isn't. Steam enables that, too.

Thanks DocJoe for Dungeon Defenders! Love me some tower defense. I will certainly be hitting you and other GWJers up for Co-Op madness!! (but not tonight... now it is time for Feast For Crows before I pass out in bed...)

Unreal series flash sale.

Yep, doesn't take much to make 2.49 worth it

I almost gifted a copy of SotMC to a non GWJER. He plays FPS games almost exclusively, and lives about 30 minutes away from my house.

What have I become?

Yeah this I what I meant, but was being overly cynical

Alright gang, good night! Hope I don't miss any good sales, can't wait to see what's on tap for tomorrow. Hopefully my hard drive doesn't explode by the time this thing is over....

Unreal Gold is a nice gateway drug if you're wanting to let your kids play multiplayer coop. UT 3 too.

Thank you very much D-Man777 for Shoot Many Robots!! I will totally go and do that.

Argh I am mad I missed the Dungeon Siege 3 flash sale! Stupid work. Hopefully it comes up again for a daily like we have seen multiple times already.
